      You make someone question their own sanity via the ad hominem verbal attack of calling someone else crazy.
      Very disrespectful, unless your only goal is to de-escalate or something. And that was absolutely a very basic and chill encounter. Danger level was like zero.
      If someone thought a violent encounter may develope and they were like: "Don't worry about it. That dude is just crazy"...then whatever. So it goes.
      Maybe that was the intent of the person who jumped in the middle of the interaction. NYC often has poor mental health services and the close proximity of human beings is always a factor.
      I think it may have been their intent, yet I admit that is a hopefull guess. Either way: They were not an asshole or anything it seems: they were just wrong.

    The steely guy calmly refusing to curtail his own rights on the demands of others was being an absolute legend. Never give an inch to any stealth commie trying to shut freedom down in public spaces, so long as you aren't harrassing people any conversation between consenting adults is a vital freedom to be practised publically as often as is sensible.

      I can tell you right now that being old does not mean being intelligent, polite, or thoughtful - in fact it usually means the opposite. While there are tons of great old people, there are shitty people in every generation
      My most recent job was Geek Squad where my average client was 60+ and I was regularly shouted at, disrespected, insulted, rushed, etc - and the younger my clients were the less likely these occurrences were. This was a trend literally every one of my coworkers experienced and was clear as day
      The word 'entitled' is used to describe young people, but I saw that behavior in old people more than any young person. Old people would demand help NOW and would throw tantrums when I would explain our reservation system, whereas young people seemed to understand the concept of waiting in line and had no issue with it whatsoever
      Even our senior citizen coworkers agreed that younger customers/clients are much easier to work with and were overall more polite and well mannered
