- Climbed Capitol via the standard route from west Sowmass creek, Soloed "Satans Ridge" staying direct all the way through the gendarme section to Snowmass, left Snowmass at 9 hours 30 minutes and climbed the Hagerman traverse arriving at the summit of Hagerman at 10 hours 15 minutes. Descended the South ridge of Hagerman to Trailrider pass and ran out Snowmass creek. 14 hours 54 minutes car to car.
My name is Mike. I was on the trip across Satan's Ridge in 2010 with Steve, Noah, Kiefer, and myself. The carabineer you saw with the blue tape on it (when you said it was wild ppl rapped off of the pin) is mine.
You did it in style! Fantastic video. Makes me wanna go back.
Crazy I just finished reading your trip report and it made me want to watch this route again. Then yours is the first comment I see.
Well this is incredible. A skilled climber for sure.
Wow. This the highest quality video I’ve seen of this ridge… and it further solidifies my desire to never be on it. Nice job!
There’s a reason this isn’t the fifth great 14er traverse. Stout work sending it free and solo. After hearing stories about the exposure it was nice to actually see it. Thanks for putting it online.
Congrats on being one of a handful of people to achieve this, let alone do it solo, without equipment, and quickly! Impressive!
Thanks! I'm lactose intolerant, ate some pizza last night, and have been shitting my brains out all morning. After watching this, I don't think my arsehole is un-clenching for a week 👍
10:35 is by far the most insane moment I think I watched in this video.. this is like free solo flash or something.. my heart is pounding back in time for you dude.. you summoned the quantum timescale
This is absolutely horrifying. Great work.
Didn’t know this ridge was a thing, now I see why. Amazing upload
Ya not many have done it and it’s a 13er so no talked about as much
@@smith46695 doesn't it connect 2 14ers?
How does this video only have 4k views? With the right avenues, it would be viral. You are one gnarly animal my friend. SICK BIRD
Mad Respect! Been toying with the idea of this traverse since I first saw it. We now have a first man ever to do the fifth great traverse in one go. What a legend.
Wish you posted more. This was awakening brother. Real gnarly stuff. I broke a sweat watching 😅
That rock quality, length and exposure make this one of the coolest and scariest videos about the 14ers. Awesome work! Congrats on the accomplishment and setting a new bar!
Some scariest shit I’ve ever seen. Don’t want the vid to end
I had to pause the video so I could comment and tell you that you are a bad ass, sir
This is the most badass thing i've seen in a long time....awesome work!
I went from about 20 different videos of people doing Knife’s Edge and then I found THIS GUY. Holy cow, I was puckered the whole time, worried about him hitting a spot with no holds. The loose rocks were extra spicy.
WOW!! You are incredibly brave and strong. Never in my lifetime would I be up there but I enjoyed the views!
I knew you when I was a client at JW and you were working there; I just happened to stumble upon this video randomly while watching other mountaineering vids. Holy shit man this is nuts. Glad to see you getting after it still. Literally some of the spookiest downclimbing i've ever watched
This is effing metal, dude. This stuff inspires me to keep pushing myself in mountaineering. Thank you
Absolute badass of a man you are, Paul. Stay safe & have fun out there!
Truly inspiring to see how you move over terrain like that. Can’t wait to get Cap in the bag, very good shit👍🏽
This was terrifying, great work.
Holy shit ! I don’t think I could ever become comfortable with that type of exposure LOL
Amazed you could move that fast while carrying such MASSIVE BALLS! Jesus that was impressive.
wow!! insane video and solo another level
Absolutely amazing. Congrats man!
Mad props. This was incredible.
narly dude! The up most respect for you! Truly badass.
Scottie sent me here.... you are a BEAST. Thanks for sharing.
The amount of trust that you have in those shoes is wild
I can't believe those were the shoes you wore for that, OMG. . . Amazing climb!
I saw this video and thought of you and some of your crazy traverses! Haha love your content
@KarlDeckerPresents You have to do this!
This is hair raising and spine tingling , beautiful and 💀 deadly. Congratulations
I must have been in that valley hundreds of times, my pops was a forest ranger for White River National Forest and that ridge seems so familiar from below. Incredible video sir.
That’s a pretty solid traverse. Maybe next year🤔 Great work! Thanks for posting this 👍
Inspiring stuff, incredible 👏🏽
Wow! After climbing Snowmass via S-Ridge and seeing Satan's I became fascinated by it. Didn't think it could be done so quickly! That's some choss up there. Nice job!
Unreal. Truly impressive 👏
Incredible footage. You must have some kind of superpower to be able to just stand on a vertical rock wall. 😳
All your faith in hanging on those flaky spires! No thanks. You have to be a little crazy, but you have the strength, experience, and talent to back it up. Well done. Most of us will never know what we are truly capable of.
this is fantastic. Great work.
Amazing video! Super cool getting to see someone do this, congratulations!
“ you got this duuude!”
Fucking awesome brotha,
You rock hard!
incredible! Nice job. Amazing!
This is the knife ridge's cousin that always says, hold my beer.
Never watched a 14er or traverse video that made my palms sweat quite like this… that down climb though! Wish you showed you getting across that ledge after it. Absolutely crazy stuff man.
You sir..crushed that! Truly inspiring
this was awesome, nice work
Congratulations, looks cool. colorado is a wild place.
That was absolutely horrifying. Well fucking done.
Holy shit this was intense! Fantastic work!
What in the absolute FUCK oh my god
Nicely done
the blood splattered all over the rocks makes this even more intimidating, lol
LOL, sometimes class 3 is too much for me! This is way, way beyond that. P.S. Thank you for not spoiling this by slapping on some crappy music.
absolutely wild
Be careful man, glad everything worked out.
Big Balls Paul!
well, can safely say my man is not afraid of heights.
From time to time in the video you can see the shadow of the ridge way down in Pierre Lakes Basin. Even that shadow looks jagged and scary. It's quite amazing.
Watching again. SICK....
So you scale capitol and then up the anti by choosing what could be one of the most dangerous traverses ever. Nuts.
that is the gnarliest thing ive ever seen WTF!
This is awesome
Congrats! Very entertaining. Curious how you recorded your footage. I didn't see a go pro or selfish extender at any point. Have you done any hikes/climbs more dangerous than this one?
Crazy! Congrats, man
you are a god, this is so impressive
And here I thought I’d gotten over my fear of heights.
Cliffing out does not apply here
Unreal. Anyone know how he mounted the camera to film this?
wow, that rock is rotten... nice work! Glad it's you and not me! I'll stick with stories of the Crestone's and pretend it was this hard. LOL
absolutely terrifying just to watch this
This is totally badass
This made my hands sweat lmfao you're built different
An average of less than 10 people do this an year.
This is some crazy sh6t dude. Holy mother!
Holy shi...! Great video.
Gnarliest 14er video out there.
Is this even free to watch?
This is the absolute scariest ridge in the state…so committing. Back in the 70’s we all knew it would never be traversed.
Please keep making videos
Man talk about flirting with death. This is absolutely insane
Spicy!
That’s gonna be a no for me. Absolutely insane, props
WOW.
WOW
Legit!
Holy shit
You are a savage my friend.
i about got sick watching this
I'm seriously considering doing this next summer. My biggest obstacle currently is how to get back to the car. The distance doesn't bother me but I am unsure how to get there from Snowmass. Would you mind sharing some beta with me?
This is basically free soloing
Great job, but there is video the wrong people will attempt it
OMG!
im scared 😳
Can you take dogs on this?
Must be on a lead though.
Someone posted clips from this under a different name on instagram and got 10 million views
What’s next, tight rope from earth to mars ?
PALMS WAS SWEATY

I think I see Mom’s spaghetti at 10:57
Ive looked at it a few times from both ends ,looks too rotten to be fun
