I managed to upgrade my firmware wirelessly via a wifi module. Downloaded cfm, switch to the celestron wifi, start cfm.jar, switch cfm to wifi mode, run upgrade button, don’t touch the hand controllers while running upgrade. When finished exit cfm, enjoy!!

Well explained video, I have built in wi fi on the mount , I will try this out. Shame Celestron don’t give great instructions, as an aside I’ve been trying to calibrate the Celestron motor focuser, many issues tho I know when it works it’s a good motor .

thank you for video but I am trying to do the access mode with my samsung galaxy. I connect in direct mode fine. but when I go to config access point, it tells me unable to read config info from the cesstron wifi module. I should note that i am not using the module that you have, but am using an nexstar evolution mount with built in wifi. thanks for any help
I use to use the wifi module without issue, haven’t used my scope for about 7 months. Went to try today and the wifi module is not allowing me to connect in either model, the direct connection mode is not sending any wifi signal out for me to connect to on my phone. The Celestron wifi is not showing up at all. Is there a way to “reset” the module?

I can connect to my router, but when I try to connect to the mount through the wifi it says that it can make the connection, but the scope is not responding. However, it does connect and control through direct. Can you advise?
I cannot think of any reason why it should not work. I recommend to follow the steps exactly as i showed and in same sequence to identify the issue. Only way it would not work is your phone and wifi dongle are not connected to same wifi. I dont think it would work on internet. You have to be connected to same wifi locally.

@@AstroShootingStars I had this same issue. I ended up upgrading the bios and then it started working. BIOS upgrade is messy. Look up Celestron CFM.
I have a problem with directions when using it. Is this because I didn't align the telescope in the first place or what?

Hi. What if I don't want to use SkyPortal App, just want to use the SkyPortal to connect my PC instead of USB cable? Is it possible?
Yes there is a usb port below the hand controller you can connect it to your PC and you can control via skyportal application of pc. Or you can connect wifi of pc to this wifi dongle and control via pc application. I hope this helped. Please stay tuned to my channel for my future videos

Yes you can the same way you connect it to phone you can connect it to your PC wifi and contol using pc application for sky portal
Do you have to align the telescope using the FinderScope if you use the SkyPortal app with wifi?
Yes you have to align the scope even if you use the skyportal app and wifi. Using these apps it can know your exact location but it cannot determine where your telescope is facing. Moving the telescope can be done by any means. To align first point it to a star using the app or phone and then center it using manual or fine controls from app or hand controller.
@@jaykelly5626 from my understanding you can remove the handle control now that you have a wifi adapter.
I’m having trouble connecting to my scope. It shows that it is connected to my phone but not luck with connecting to the app

By far and away THE biggest waste of money ive ever spent. Tried 3 tablets, 2 phones and it will just drop the connection minutes after connecting, ASSUMING it will connect which 9/10, it wouldn't. An absolutely useless piece of crap.

For me, if my device turns into landscape mode, screen turns off for even a second or I leave the app for a moment, it disconnects. Try using the CPWI software for a laptop, heard some people had success with it.

@@rexinus1557 I DL'd that last week, if that allows me to control the scope through a usb cable then my issues are solved as i can sit in my shed where it's warm.
@@Cornz38 I tried it last night and even just the wifi connection seems far more stable, no disconnects or any lag, probably gonna get a cable anyway.
