- This is a fully guided video for updating the firmware on the celestron NexStar 127 SLT telescope NexStar+ controller via Mini USB port
In this video you will find how to connect the Celestron controller to computer what are the important points that you need to keep in mind while updating the firmware and also what is the difference with old controller connection using RS232 connection.
The firmware was updated from 5.31.9102 to 5.31.9200

Best clear explanation on how to perform the upgrade I have found yet. The only one to show how the hand controller for a Nexstar + hand control gets put in upload mode. The others all point to the older way. Glad I found this video.

I have an older model celestron nexstar and the hand controller doesn’t have the mini usb port so I haven’t attempted to update it. But I’m curious have there been good benefits making it worth while to find that rj22 jack?
Does this only update the controller firmware or the MC firmware as well?

I managed to upgrade my firmware wirelessly via a wifi module. Downloaded cfm, switch to the celestron wifi, start cfm.jar, switch cfm to wifi mode, run upgrade button, don’t touch the hand controllers while running upgrade. When finished exit cfm, enjoy!!

when I was setting up my 127 and I looked at my coords the long said 41 22 5.255 on the controller what do I set the secs to?

What is the last firmware version you guys have i did the update now i have the 5.34.2065 is this correct?? Celestron 227slt
when I have the controller plugged in and turn it on it goes right into star align and I hit menu and it just goes into star align and I cant find out if its updated???
You will have to enter the coordinates first to start with or you can skip the star alignment by cancelling or hitting back on the controller. Once your controller is ready you can hit menu option to go to ulities and then version to check the current version of the Firmware. to find out if it is latest version or not you have to check the latest version of firmware avialable on celestron to compare it with what you have on controller. Bonjour, j’ai téléchargé le CFM.jar. mais j’arrive pas le démarrer. Chaque fois je clique, il affiche une fenêtre « celestron firewave manege » et toute suite fermé. Et j’ai déjà installé Java.

I have celestron 130nexstar SLT, i have lost the cable which we connect to the hand pad controller, which cable shall I buy, please help me with the cable type and specifications as I need to update the software.
I am assuming you have newer version of controller which has usb port similar to mine. You need to use the mini usb to usb A cable the link of cable in amazon is provided in the description of the video. I hope this helps. Please stay tuned to my channel for my future videos

I have not tried personally but I guess you can purchase rj9 to usb cable that would be more versatile. These adaptors you can find on amazon easily. I hope this helps. Please stay tuned to my channel for my future videos
I downloaded Java like how it states on the Celestron troubleshooting guide. I have a windows 10. The CMF file won’t even pull up everytime I click it. I can’t get Java to open it. Not sure what’s going on
You need to create cmd script file to open the file jn java. If you are using windows follow my anothther video for the process

Hello! I just got a Celestron Nextar 130STL and I am trying to update it, the problem is that once I click “finish” in 3:15 a tab appears stating that no device was connected even though the hand control shows the “Boot loader serial” and we did it the exact same was as you did.
Solutions??
The only thing i can think of is the faulty cable or cable not capable of data transfer. There are some cable only used for charging please dont use such cable. I hope this helps. Please stay tuned to my channel for my future videos

Thats great i hope it keeps working well. I am assuming you have the same mini usb port that i have. It wont be detected in the system to update the firmware if it is not in boot loader mode. Can you please confirm if you were able to get it into boot loader mode or not ?
I do all that but it will not find my hand control. I don't know what to do? I've tried 3 different cords and I have a new alienware laptop so its not the laptop?
You have to turn off everything. Make sure your controller is powered off and mount is off and usb is disconnected. Then hold celestron and menu button together and while holding the button connect the usb make sure your usb is connect to pc on the other side this will power on your controller in boot loader mode
Also if you do not get that notification on the application on pc for how to set your controller in boot loader mode then you can try two things first update java on your pc and second directly click on update button on the app it will search and detect your controller directly. Just Ensure that your controller is in boot loader mode.
DO NOT USE WINDOWS 11 version 23H2 This finally worked when I found a PC with Windows 10. I used two Windows 11 PC's I used got a blue screen during the update soft bricking my hand controller.

Il faut tout éteindre. Assurez-vous que votre contrôleur est éteint et que le support est éteint et que l'usb est déconnecté. Ensuite, maintenez celestron et le bouton de menu ensemble et tout en maintenant le bouton, connectez l'usb, assurez-vous que votre usb est connecté au PC de l'autre côté, cela allumera votre contrôleur en mode chargeur de démarrage
De plus, si vous ne recevez pas cette notification sur l'application sur PC pour savoir comment configurer votre contrôleur en mode chargeur de démarrage, vous pouvez essayer deux choses d'abord mettre à jour Java sur votre PC et ensuite cliquer directement sur le bouton de mise à jour de l'application, il recherchera et détectera directement votre contrôleur. Assurez-vous simplement que votre contrôleur est en mode chargeur de démarrage.
A l aide de cmf je fè la mise a jour tout pass bien mais en fin la console reste sur initialiser j eteint tt je redemare je trouve aucune version mc
Version hc toujours fix
Il existe une option de réinitialisation d'usine de votre contrôleur manuel dans l'option de menu, puis effectuez à nouveau la mise à jour, j'espère que cela résoudra votre problème.
ou vous pouvez réinitialiser les paramètres d'usine en appuyant sur le bouton 0 et en le maintenant enfoncé pendant la mise sous tension
