    That was very interesting thank you. Since get a GP11 round for 40cents directly from the military stock i never thought about reloading. About the markings on the buttom. On the right is where the brass is coming from (D = Dornach / T = Selve&Co Thun) and on the right is the ammo production plant (A = Altendorf / T = Thun), top month and bottom year of production. Can't imagine that there is a lot of difference. But again thank you for this very interesting vid.

    Thank you for taking the time to download this video . I’ve learned a bit today . I have a question if you feel up to answering it . If the cases are loose then surely they will allow blowback when fired . Is this so . I get they are military loads and a bit of blowback wouldn’t matter as much as your round chambering when you need it to . If your target shooting you take that play out when resizing right 🤔

      @lencac7952  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Nikita: What you are taking into account is the fact that when fired, before any gas is released from the mouth of the case the case will expand to fit the chamber circumventing any occurrence of blowback. Nevertheless, I've had GP11 cases that I've reloaded already a few times split where the cup meets the shell. Even when that occurred there was no blowback. A testimony to the integrity of these rifles.

Cases once fired and sized using Lee sizing dies and firmly crimped . I’m getting some blowback and the cases show evidence of this . I’ve got some 220 grain round nose copper jacketed bullet coming so hopefully this will sort this issue . Longer bullet with less taper than a boat tailed ELD 🤔

      Don't know what to tell you my friend. I've never had that problem. GP-11 fits very loose in the chamber. Have you tried some of that? Something tells me you're missing the boat somewhere.

      Well, there you go. I assumed you were shooting a K31. I've only had one K11. I think the projectile being used should have no bearing on what your concern is. Have you shot GP-11 ammo. from it. If so what happens then? The chamber on Schmidt Ruben rifles (m1889, m1911, k11) is slightly different. The shoulder on the K31 chamber is .010" wider than the shoulder on Schmidt Ruben rifles. Try some GP-11 and tell me if your issue persists

    There is a way to modify the cases to boxer priming. You tube has at least two guys that do that. Can't you use 7x57mm Mauser brass run up the sizing die for the 7.5x55mm? Then and trim the neck so it will be used in a 7.5x55 chamber, Anneal the case periodically and they will last longer.

    • @lencac7952
      @lencac7952  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Cannon: Why would anybody do that? It would be a useless exercise and a waste of time and materials. First commercial available boxer primers are of a different diameter. Second, reform 8mm Mauser cases would be simply stupid. 7.5x55 boxer commercial cases are readily available. The only reason I reloaded the GP-11 brass was because I had 2000 berdan primers for 7.5x55 cases. Which BTW are no longer available in the US. And being GP-11 brass will only reload twice before certain failure. Annealing the cases would serve no purpose either do to the way the cases fail. And that being the shell separates from the cup. It's a lot more work and requires specialized items to do. I still have 1000 7.5x55 primers left and I have no intention of using them with commercial boxer primed cases easily obtained. Of which I have several hundreds some of which I've reloaded multiple times without issue or hassle. So I'm not sure what your point is. Just get the boxer commercial brass and move on, simple. Kinda like trying to reinvent the wheel. Of course you could do your own video to try to prove me wrong (-; Nevertheless I do appreciate your input and comment. Have a great day!

    Good instruction. The Music was a little distracting, Don't get me wrong, Jeffthro Tull, a little Beatles, The ten fingers of doom Terrible Ted.. and some Led Zeppelin. I'm game anytime for Music, However hard to concentrate on what you were doing and explaining.. You Have to be the Most informative dude on all aspects of the K-31 and its linage. One thing,, You were a straight shooter about why Not going through all of what is required to salvage GP11 brass is the way to go. I believe you are the dude to go to for questions and answers about these fine rifles. Good work, Dave

      That's cool..................... I realized early on in this process that it was not a necessary thing I really needed to do ....................... but that thought lasted for about 3 nanoseconds............ and I went and did it anyway. I do believe that the cases that first were visually showing signs of fail by a dull ring being seen around where the shell meets the cup. I think those cases were stamped "TE" but I'm not sure my memory is correct. So keep that in mind .............. one headstamping type may be more prone to fail than others. I want to know how it goes.

      lencac Just the Music in general, Don't get me wrong, Music is the most alluring drug on the planet, However people watch your videos for instruction and information about a subject, the Music is taking over the subject and people listen to the music rather than listening to you.. It's just not a good mix. and that maybe just me. I would keep music for nothingness commentary while driving out to the range or closing your video. Having it going ruins people's focus.. Just a little take it or leave it advice. Dave.

      Hi Mega: Good to hear from you. I'm hangin in there I suppose. You know of all the rifles I've wrung-out I think the K31 is the most forgiving as far as the variables go. I mean it just shoots everything well. However, to answer your question 150 gr. FMJ's and 175 gr. Match projectiles if I have my choice. I actually was amazed, at least at 100 yrds. how well the 150gr. FMJ's at 100 or 200 yrds. And it likes powders in the 4350, or Reloder 17 burn rate range. Hope that helps. Hi Pat: Well, it's good timing to comment on this. Although I did have some GP11 casings split or show signs of wanting to split after only 3 firings including the factory loading I'm doing a test on different set of casings. I did not make note at the time what the headstamp was of the failed cases. So I'm working with 15 casings now that I'm trying to fire this weekend. I have 2 "DA" stamped casings that will be fired 5 that so far seem to be holding up. 6 "DA" casings that will be fired 2 times. And 7 "DT" stamped casings the will be fired 3 times.

    With all due respect, your video was annoying to me for two particular reasons, number one if you’re going to make a video instructional you have to be precise if you modified that tool you can’t say things like well I think it was a number six thread or a number eight screw or what have you you need to be precise because others are probably going to try to follow ,Number two the music is distracting from your instructions it’s annoying and it’s hard to follow ,get rid of the music and again I don’t mean to be critical just helpful ,,,

    • @lencac7952
      @lencac7952  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      And no respect is necessarily due. I would agree about the music. My apologizes for that. However, as for being "precise" in regard to the size and thread of the screw used to modify the tool I'm considering that the viewer has at least enough expertise of their own to figure out that basic thing. This isn't rocket science. If someone can't figure that simple thing out then perhaps this isn't their cup of tea to begin with. Thanks for watching and taking your time to comment.
