    I had Suspension Technologies 11" Black Hills rear shocks installed at Myrtle Beach Bike week on my new 2023 Street Glide that had 600 miles at the time on the new bike! The dealer had already installed the front Harley Lowering kit with new lower kickstand when I had the front lowers chromed day one.
    I'm 5"6 and wanted low without air ride and not a crap ride other lowering options provided. The guys and owner of Suspension Technologies were fantastic and suggested the 11" based on the hight I was going for, I wanted to be flat footed! Had me on my way quick, I did return next day as I was bottoming out and after a quick adjustment and showing me what to do, had me on my way. I have put 1,000 miles on these shocks, 500 miles last week on the NC Blue Ridge Parkway and I like the shocks, I did't at first as the ride was hard but after working on the preload a bit and either I'm getting use to the shocks or with the 1K miles now on the shocks and the bike things are perhaps breaking in. Did I loose a bit of the Cadillac cushy ride of stock? Well stock has more travel but what I have now is a bike that did great on the curvy road ( better than stock as it feels more race car around corners over stock) . The wife and I had little if any fatigue and after a week on very curvy roads we both agree the bike rides and feels great. Loaded down 2 up, saddle bags full and the wife and I like to eat, we did bottom out perhaps 3 times in 600 miles on the very bad pot hole, I may give the pre-load a 1/2 twist or just ride it as it feels great now! I don't get that uneasy wobble feeling the stock shock ( with that fake shock on one side ) when going around an interstate on-ramp, the bike is now solid footed !
    I had people ( other shock companies and resellers) tell me you can't run an 11" shock on a 23 Street Glide, all I know is at 5'6" I had a choice, lower the bike or sell the bike as it was just a matter of time and it was going down. I am happy with my Suspension Technologies option as I'm low and still have what I call a firm but comfortable sports car style ride! The wife and I are happy!

    I went with Supershox on my 2020 RGS. Talking to them on the phone was a true pleasure. They had multiple options at 3 different price points. The owner of the company adked me several questions about my riding style and what percentage of each I thought I did. He said you only need our basic shocks. What an incredible differnce for $750.00 and about 30 minutes of my time to install. The shocks were built per our discussion took about 5 weeks.

      That's awesome! Suspension Technologies does much the same thing! Their web site asks all the same questions so they can customize the shocks to your riding style. Very cool thing.

    The front suspension should stay pretty much level when getting hard on front brakes. 🎅🏻👍

    I put progressive suspension, a fork brace, new tires, on the Sportster that I built for my Fiancée and it rides so much sportier. It's possibly too rough for a long-distance ride, but it really handles nice.

    • @RoadReality
      @RoadReality  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! Gotta love a good-handling bike :D I'm glad it worked out on the Sporty!

    I am no engineer but I never understood the difference in springs in the stock shocks. The only reason I could think is it is cheaper to make one adjustable instead of both. It is nice that you like your new suspension so much. I used to watch that british show and The Benny Hill Show. Enjoy the new suspension it is great you got it sent to you. If you go back to VAMM you will slaughter that dragon.

    Replacing the stock suspension with a reputable aftermarket one should be the 1st thing anyone does. I was lucky enough to have riding notes with similar bikes with different types of suspension so I was able to compare them.

    I still ride with the stock suspension and didn’t touch it at all bike thinks I’m 180 lbs🤣🤣🤣🤣 But in all seriousness it’s sometimes harsh and cost me a kidney already but such is the joy of riding I guess🤣 The best suspension on ANY motorcycle I have ridden is hands down the Indian Springfield Dark Horse. Even better than my ESA in my GSA Trophy no bs

    There are times I think HD designs their bikes so they have to be or should be modified to correct these planned shortcomings, probably to drive their accessories side of the business. I guess it works for them. That said, I wonder if the 3” travel shocks would have worked. We talked about this vis a vis feet down, and it was a concern. Maybe not. Every inch of travel matters…not surprised at the improvement though. You’ll get used to it quickly.

    • @RoadReality
      @RoadReality  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll bet they do - the P&A catalog is a money-maker for sure! As for the travel - I think these have more travel than the stock shocks - it feels that way, at least! If you saw the side-by-side comparo vid I did, they look like they've got a passport for all the travel, compared to stock!
