  • We give you 8 steps to do flashback of your motherboard's BIOS without a CPU. Flashing your BIOS is necessary when you have CPU or other hardware that came out after your motherboard was manufactured. We show you how to do it on a MSI Z690-A Pro DDR4 WiFi Motherboard. You will need a fat32 formatted 8 to 32 GP USB 2.0 thumb drive. You should download the latest bios at your MB website on a different computer. You need the motherboard and a PSU only to do this. Bios flashback is necessary for hardware not supported at the time of manufacture.

For people that assemble their PC first: Make sure NOT to use the PC power button! Took me 30 minutes to figure this out. Just make sure your PSU is ON. Press the flash button and it will come to life and start flashing. Otherwise it will try to boot with current BIOS. I didn't think of it until I read it elsewhere. Thought I'd pass it on! 🥳

Thx a lot Pal!!! Here's my experience; downloaded the last bios from the website, mine is MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 (MS 7D25 VER:1.2), renamed bios to MSI.ROM, placed the bios in a 4gb usb stick Fat32 formated. Took apart cpu, ram and nvme drive (the mobo didn't boot 'cause my 13°gen Core i5). Placed the usb stick in the first usb port usually dedicated to keyboard or mouse, turned on the psu and pushed the bios button. The led flashed for 5 minutes, later went off along the psu, but later psu went on, this time the bios led didn't turned on and the cpu red led went on (there were no cpu installed... of course). I've turned off the psu, installed everything and all went flawlessly.

Good morning, sorry to bother you, but I have seen that you are an electronics specialist and I was wondering if you could give me some solution. I have a Sindoh 3D 3DWOX 3D printer and when I inserted a USB flash drive to update the firmware, there was a power outage. Now only the Sindoh presentation screen is displayed and the image is frozen there. I have disconnected the printer from the power and even removed the internal battery from the motherboard but it remains the same. There is no way it does anything. It has been left frozen. I'm afraid the firmware has become corrupt. I have observed that the motherboard has some jumpers, I don't know if any of them have any use. Can you help me please? Any suggestions to force flashing the firmware? How can I find out which chip on the printer's motherboard is the EEPROM? Thank you very much in advance.

      - Make sure you are downloading the right driver ( DDR4 or DDR5, go to compatibility and download the one that you'll need for your CPU ),
      - Make sure you rename the file to MSI.ROM, and only put that file to the USB (formatted in FAT32 ).
      - Look at your motherboard's manual to see which power cable you should be using ( for me I had to remove everything, and only plug in the motherboard and the CPU's power cable. )
      - For the usb, you need to put it in the " Flash BIOS " input thing. ( again, that was from the manual )

So I just installed evertthing into mine without knowing I needed to update my bios. I have a i5 13600k with a pro z690-a ddr4 , 2070 super, 32gb vengeance pro (only 1 installed for setup, far right position) m.2 drive and cx 750m psu (with only 1 8 pin going into mb, I have another one in the mail) When I cut it on I get a solid red light for the pcu. My question is can I flash update without removing everything from the board?

which was formatted to fat32. i only had one file in it and that was bios rom only. no folders no another files nothing more.
it nearly took 5 minutes to complete. all lights and power supply fans went off after completion.
i asked to msi support, does it turn mobo to brick if power goes off (like power grid failure) while updating and they replied that they cannot guarantee i can flash bios again if power cuts while updating bios. so its press and pray. i have completed it without problem. i would expect this to be foolproof to brick mobo. but it is not. if you have chance to do it in ups backed up power line do it that way to be sure power wont go off while flashing bios.
