    Hi, I'm working with acrylic keychains and cups with vinyl decorations and would like to glue rhinestones on them. I need a glue that will work on top of both the vinyl and acrylic. And it needs to withstand hand washing for the cups. What glue will work best for that? Thanks!!!

    I’ve never had any luck with gem tack working long term. It does not hold up to washing . The cement glue is the next glue I would avoid . It also does not stand up to water. After glueing all sorts of embellishments and gems for years , the e6000 holds up the longest by far. When washing , always use cold water, gentle wash, no fabric softener and no dryer, line dry only.

    My daughter has a jumper with a vinyl design that she would like to be decorated with rhinestones. I have previously used E6000 to attach these to t-shirts and they have held fine, but it didn't seem to stick to the vinyl, after just over a day, I was able to pull the rhinestones off in the shape of the design. Does anyone have any ides what other glue I could use or any tips to make the E6000 stick?

      Glued and hot fixed rhinestones do well with hand washing and line drying, which is a good fit for small items like masks. Rhinestones are getting harder to find these days with Swarovski leaving the DIY market, but we do still have some in stock, you can see our collection here: beadaholique.com/collections/swarovski-crystal-flatback-rhinestones

My two issues 1. Cloud the stone/eats away at the foil and/or 2. Creates cloudy white residue around my stone on the plastic. So I bought a cute little shirt at Joyce Leslie. It seems the rhinestones may have already been attached to a pre-cut applique. A few of the rhinestones from the edges have fallen off after 1 wear (not washed yet which will have to be by hand). After watching the video I think I will reapply the fallen stones using the G-S Hypo Fabric Cement. However, Any suggestions on spray glue for rhinestones to fabric; kind of like a setting spray to prevent any more from falling off? Also, if you don't like/recommend my "setting spray" solution, do you have any suggestions to prevent more stones from falling off? Thank you!💖

    • @beadaholique

      A setting spray sounds like a good idea but unfortunately I've never heard of anything like that. You might try asking the theater costume and cosplay parts of TH-cam. Our expertise is with applying rhinestones to jewelry, wearable fabric is tougher to work with and I'm sure costumers have a few tricks.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a tough question. Aluminum can be a difficult surface to glue to, and most glues marketed for use with rhinestones give very strong holds since rhinestones are often glued to fabric and washed. Making a temporary bond to aluminum could be a challenge. I'm afraid I don't have any experience with similar projects so I can't recommend a specific glue for you. I'd suggest testing some household glues you may already have to see if they might be good enough. Find a small piece of aluminum that you don't mind sacrificing to testing and a few spare rhinestones and try hot gluing them, or use a white glue like Elmer's. Avoid super glue, that will be too difficult to remove.

      @beadaholique  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We haven't worked with canvas much but I'm thinking gem-tac is probably they way to go. It works great with other cotton fabric like denim and it'll even stand up to washing, which I'm guessing is more wear and tear than your canvas is going to see. You can find Gem-Tac from us here: beadaholique.com/products/gem-tac-permanent-glue-cement-adhesive-rhinestones-2oz

      If you're gluing small rhinestones that sit flush with the curve of the cup I'd suggest S G Hypo Cement: beadaholique.com/products/g-s-hypo-cement-precise-applicator-essential
      If the rhinestones are big enough where there's a bit of a gap on the sides due to the curvature I'd recommend E6000, it's better at filling gaps like that: beadaholique.com/products/e6000-industrial-strength-glue-adhesive-2-oz

      I haven't tried or read about the GS Hypo one, only seen it around stores. Is that one machine washable like e6000 & GemTac? Curious why you prefer that one over the other 2. The majority of people prefer e6000 because it has the strongest hold usually & info says can go through both washer/dryer AND it remains "flexible". I don't like that it's toxic though so I've just been using GemTac.

      MelaniePortland They most likely get a kickback for referring folks to the GS products, tracked through their referral code/link to their website, so they get paid when you click on the link they provide or when you purchase the product directly from their website. Sometimes it’s as simple as that.

    Do you know if the Gem Tac can be used on matte cups??

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gem Tac is designed as a fabric glue but it might work well enough on a cup with a good matte surface it can hold to. However if the cup is mostly made of metal I'd recommend E6000, it has a better chance of holding when metal expands and contracts with temperature.changes beadaholique.com/products/e6000-industrial-strength-glue-adhesive-0-18-fl-oz

      We recommend the Gem Tac or the E6000. While they are both very strong, the E6000 has the strongest bond. However, the Gem Tac can also be used and requires less time to dry than E6000.

      The Gem Tac will should work just fine, as it's meant for adhering rhinestones to metal, but you may want to consider the E6000 too. The E6000 will take a little longer to cure, but the bond is a bit stronger. Thanks for watching!

    I'm wanting to glue pearls and rhinestones/gems (with flat backs) onto a black plastic-like bathroom trash can but I want a glue that wont make the gems/pearls fall off. Would the E6000 glue work the best??

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is always tricky to glue things to plastic since by its nature it has a shiny surface that everything tends to peel off of. I would recommend E6000 glue but I would also suggest doing a small test swatch before covering the entire surface.

    • @MelanieOregon
      @MelanieOregon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would get a dust mask on & then lightly sand the surface first & then clean off that dust. Or maybe take some rubbing alcohol to the surface to see if it takes off the outer surface & dulls it up. Then try the glue to roughed up surface.

    Do they not Fall off in the washing machine?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the glue you use. It's better to hand wash the clothes to ensure they don't fall off. But if you must use the washing machine make sure to turn the clothes inside out and make sure to use a wash friendly adhesive.

      +cookie54189 Hi, I am unfortunately not sure what glue to use for Ugg boots. What are you trying to do to them? Repair, embellish, etc. and what materials are you using?

      +Beadaholique I want to cover them in gem stones :)

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cookie54189 There are two glues that we have for bonding gem stones to fabric. Here are the links: www.beadaholique.com/p-10551-g-s-hypo-fabric-cement-glue-precise-rhinestones.aspx and www.beadaholique.com/p-12142-gem-tac-permanent-glue-cement-adhesive-rhinestones-2oz.aspx. A couple quick notes: I have never tried to glue anything to an Ugg boot before (and I know they can be pricey) so I can't say for certain that either of these glues will work since all materials are different. Definitely do a single test stone first in a not so noticeable area and wear the boots for a week to make sure the stone stays on. Shoes are especially hard to embellish since they get a lot of wear and tear. It's a fun idea, I just want to make sure you end up happy with the results :)
