Most people don't ever experience Minnesota because they're scared of the cold and snow. But as a local, it's cool to hear that other people love Minnesota as much as us who were born and raised here. 😊

We moved to Minneapolis in September, fleeing North Texas. Still so many things to do for the first time here but after exploring so many neighborhoods, especially living in Uptown close to the lakes and making a point to go visit Saint Paul every week, it’s apparent that Twin Cities punches WAY above its weight for a metro this size. It really has so much to offer. I find the people here pretty friendly too (not necessarily in the famous passive aggressive way or maybe I just don’t care about that 🤷🏻‍♂️) and even when the windchill is biting, the cold actually feels good if we’re dressed appropriately! We’re kinda in love with MSP so far and SO glad we came ❤❤❤

I nearly moved to NE Mpls 2020, but got interrupted due to C lockdowns here in New Zealand.
Really looks like a cool city, even with all the problems with crime. Property prices here in Auckland went up about 30% 2021-22 to around in US Dollars US$750k for a 3 bedroom, but its reducing this year.
I think as about 20% of the population that came home during C are heading back overseas to make more money.
Is NE still a great neighborhood or is it affected by large crime increases?

I think statistics say that crime has fallen city wide, but I would also say that in every city there is some crime. You can look at the minneapolis police crime map and see how a particular address looks by zooming in: www.minneapolismn.gov/resident-services/public-safety/police-public-safety/crime-maps-dashboards/crime-locations-map/

Hey Mary! I’m interviewing with a couple jobs in Minneapolis right now. Do you have any recommendations on researching what neighborhoods might be good for me?

Is Minneapolis safe? I want to know the crime situation there

Sorry for the delayed response! Minneapolis is like every other city, different areas have different levels and types of crime. You can check the city web site for crime statistics and judge for yourself. Different people have different levels of concern.

Nope it’s gotten very bad with crime especially petty crime in perfectly nice seeming experience of suburbs never mind poorer ones in St.Paul or Mpls. A lot of door checking at night to see if people left car doors open on driveways, a lot of catalytic converter thefts from cars being left on driveways especially high up S.U.V’s which are a necessity in Minnesnowda. Lots of break ins too. It’s got way worse since about 2020.
