    Thank you so much for this video! Unfortunately, as a new Alteryx user….I was lost trying to enhance my excel output. This video helped tremendously! Please keep up the great work…we need it.

    Nathan - thanks for creating these videos! I always love learning how to use more Alteryx tools. One piece of feedback I would give is to show the output right at the beginning of the video so I’m able to understand what we are trying to achieve - even a vey quick before (raw data input) and after to grab us. Thanks again!

      Great suggestion! I'll start showing the output in the next video series. Thanks!

    Nathan: Excellent intro to the Render tool, thanks! Alteryx isn't perfect but it's king of the hill in data process automation, and I wish they'd fix the quirks that do make a difference such as automatic column width in the Render tool & others. I'm also glad to see you use the Data Cleansing tool that helps with junk we constantly receive. Some resent how slow it is with large datasets, and Alteryx staff explain that's because it's built with other Alteryx tools--so it's a big macro--and this is all the more reason to have them build it from scratch in C++ or whatever, for the sake of performance.

      Thanks, Shandor. The Data Cleansing tool is slow on large data sets. I agree that it should be redesigned. I was encouraged to see that some tools rely on Python. Hopefully, the Data Cleansing tool gets moved over.

    Nathan, Thank you for the very educational and useful video on formatting excel file output.
    If there is a way to make it work if there is need for Output with multiple sheets within an Excel file (based on one of the filed values)
    Thank you!

    Thanks a lot for the video Nathan. I'm subscribed and I'm getting all notifications but you don't see me as subscribed, that's strange. I'm quite not sure how to prove it -:)
    Great to see some useful tips for the render tool. It will be even better if Alteryx adds more options like column width specification or auto fit, freeze panes etc. to the render tool and that can be a suggestion to the Alteryx development team.
    I was exploring the options to use a previously configured export path consisting a file name with current date and a unc path added via formula tool earlier in the workflow. You can actually use the group by option and it let you pick the field you want to group on. Pretty cool. Nice clip at the beginning of the video... cacked me up! 😃

      I'm glad you are subscribed! It sounds like you are well on your way to making magic happen with Alteryx. I'm glad you liked the clip, it is my attempt at a little humor. 😎😎

      I've often thought about creating content for Tableau and QlikView (I've used both). There are some great TH-camrs out there but you are making me think deeply about creating some content. 👍

    Hi Nathan, can you show us how to remove truncated header in the render tool. I'm showing that my column width is Ok via browse tool, but when I run the file and extract it, it shows that my headers are truncated. Thank you for assisting.

    Hi Nathan, by far the best Alteryx videos on TH-cam. I just moved to a new company so Alteryx is new to me, was wondering if you had macro videos in the pipeline or maybe point me to any useful resources.

    The render tool only works for one sheet, is it any way can format multiple sheet on one excel

    Thank you for the videos, they are great! I was wondering if you can help me, I can get my report to be in one Excel file but on different tabs (using Block until done/Filter/Output Data), I followed this video on how to use the Render Tool to format my data but now it's on one tab so I'm wondering, is there a way to take my formatted data and put that into a report (preferably in Excel) that will have multiple tabs?

    Thanks a lot for the video Nathan, definitely helps build the alteryx knowledge. I was just curious to know for the same output rendering, how do I use this technique to puh my output to multiple sheets in a single file as I have a process that requires me to output formatted tables onto multiple sheets in the same file. Appreciate the help in advance

    I have sheet(Y) in Excel which has formulas(cell referencing to other cell values from another sheet).let's say (X)
    Every day the another sheet(X) count increases and I have to copy paste formulas to new rows manually
    Can we automate this ?

    Hi Patrick...Thank you for the video!!
    Headers in excel output is too lengthy hence not displaying the entire header name.... Please explain how to do the settings to get the complete header name in the output.

    This video was very helpful to new Alteryx users, thank you for posting. I have a question to add to this render video. I have a render file that produces 21 separate PDF files. All of the files have the same header, "Financial Report". I would like to add the individual states to the header (Financial Report - Michigan.pdf, Financial Report - Ohio.pdf, etc...) but I do not know how to add the name of each state to the header and render it as a separate pdf file. I have researched all over but can't find the answer. Do you think this doable?

    Nathan - thanks for creating the video ! I really liked the way you explained the render function in very simplistic format and it’s easier for someone to grab without coding background as well.
    I’m struggling with one thing can you help me out. Let’s say I’ve a folder with the name of Input file and in that I save Input file daily with the name Summary 04.01 then Summary 04.02 to Summary 12.30.
    Can I create a functionality with Input file (dynamic) that Alteryx picks Input file as (Actual date - 1) on weekdays and (Actual day - 3) on weekends. Even if we can create one condition Actual date -1 that would even help.
    I don’t want to select input every time it should be automatically picked up by Alteryx.
    Thanks in Advance !

      Column order and column names should be same (Alteryx output vs excel template) and you need to click on preserve formatting in output

    • @PujaKiPyaariDuniya
      @PujaKiPyaariDuniya 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only one thing would be there, suppose the count in Alteryx is more than the excel template.
      Then values will be populated only for formatting rows

    Hi, i have a requirement to paste a table as an image in Excel file.. could you please let me know if that is possible using Alteryx

    • @NPT
      @NPT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rounak, my first thought is to try and use the Report Tools to create a report with and image, then our the contents to an Excel file. Start here with my video on using the Render Tool to generate a formatted Excel file: th-cam.com/video/7EN2dHWBzAo/w-d-xo.html

      In particular I get the Warning from Render "The current page layout will cause data to be incorrectly truncated. You may consider modifing how the data is laid out."

      Hi Lucky! Glad to see your comments on here. Yes, totally doable. Use the Summarize tool with the Group By option. I'll see what I can throw together for a demo.
