  • How to video on how to import multiple differently named tabs from multiple differently named Excel files with possibly different schemas.
    This video is perfect for automating the aggregation of all the tabs from a folder.
    Often, Alteryx gives a schema error when trying to import multiple files but we show you how to bypass this. We build a batch macro that you can use over and over again in the future.

    If you're only going to publish one video make it count. And boy does it count. Thanks for making such an accessible introduction to Batch Macros and showing the full process!

    Very helpful! One of the best Alteryx walk-through I've watched so far. If you can add indexes to your video, I think it will be even better. 😀 Sub'd.

    @Data Doer I just wanted to ask - what if the sheet names are different across all files. What do we do then?

    Great video! Is it possible to include the tab/sheet-names as a separate column-output?

    Thanks great videos, only thing I am struggling with is that my data set is huge and when I ran the final macro 2, it suddenly started throwing error in between mentioning that the "The field schema for the output"Output 5" changed between iterations. I am not sure how to resolve this.

    I followed your steps but get this error on the last macro -Error: Batch workflow2 (9): Record #12: Tool #5: The field schema for the output "Output5" changed between iterations on Record2: Tool5? I have 3 tabs but 2 do not have unique identifier but I still want to join it all together

    Hello, I have tried this workflow but I would require the excel file names as a file name column in the output sheet from which excel the tabs data is coming from exactly, any suggestions on how can we develop the workflow to get the corresponding excel file names in output

    @datadoer421 Great video with clear step by step instructions. An error I keep getting on my first macro is File section does not contain data; select a valid data file which is doing my head in as the file selected has data/sheet names which is what I want it to being back. Anything you can suggest to help out will be great, thanks!

    Perfect video. If I want to append my records from my file using directory tool. Please any thought?

    • @lord_juanito
      @lord_juanito 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Directory reads the files, then use the solution above. Issue is if the files have different formatting i.e. column names, # of columns, etc.

    • @datadoer421
      @datadoer421  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use the directory tool. However, just as Lord_Juanito said below, the directory tool has a limitation in that it needs to have all the files in the same schema. This solution works around that.
