Beautifully sung. Masterfully directed. An incredibly poignant and noble performance of a gripingly intense, devastatingly meaningful, lucid piece. My Son, My Son. Oh Absalom my son. Would that I had died instead of thee.
Even with the incorrect pronunciations and missed parts of mastery, they stayed on pitch from start to end and delivered a beautiful and gut-wrentching song. A job well done and the conductor OWNS this choir! Well done, especially sopranos and basses...
@CharlieBladeRemus It is a cultural thing - Slavic people don't always wear all of their emotions on their sleeves, but I can guarantee you that most people in the audience had a very somber, chilling sensation inside.
wow, this is absolutly stunning! the only criticism i would have is there's too much vibrato at 9:27 and it kind of distracts from the beauty of the words and the chords. besides that, i am incredibly impressed! great job!
Oiy, I love the sound of the men, so rich and deep, and in comparison the women sound so thin and screechy! The soprano that does the C is ear piercing with that vibrato! Ack. I honestly found several parts very enjoyable, the previous poster was spot on about the crescendos! Very nice job on that. Overall, the emotion of the piece doesn't come through much though. :( That's sad.
I don't know, but I sorta just get the impression that their just trying to go through the piece, singing it for the sake of singing it. There are some parts that I felt they could have handled more delicately, but all in all, it sounds very nice.
@margotlorena1 They're a Croatian choir, so I guess their pronunciation might be a little different than an American choir. Although I agree with you that it's rather off-putting... Still a very beautiful performance
Besides the musical nit-picking...given they are a Croatian choir at it wasn't that long ago Croatia was in the middle of a civil war, I wonder if any of them have lost a son in war as David did?

My Son, My Son.
Oh Absalom my son.
Would that I had died instead of thee.
8:15 is always so many chills, that looong build and release.
HOW is the audience not in tears!!!! This is such a wonderful, emotional rendition!!!!
8:45 Whoa. Sopranos jumped in a measure too early!
The ninth chord at around 2:15 is killer. Awesome.
After that - great as well.
The choir does an incredible job with the entire piece.

8:15 He gives the "Yeah, okay, let's melt some faces today" nod.
Beautiful!
1:08 - 2:19 has to be my favorite part. It's so breathtaking.

Who's that one woman thats not making an effort to blend in the beginning? Gosh I hate it when one person stands out.
Wow! So powerful! Too bad about those people coughing at the very end :(
The director has a very different way of directing... good job!
My God how much more bored can the audience look at 2:20?! The climax is breathtaking!
It's singing, not ballroom-dancing. The important thing is the sound - and it's a very fine one.

I don't mean to nitpick but the alto intro at 7:15 into the second half of the piece before the climax was a little flat.
12:54 OVERTONE? dayum.
Ebsalom?
Besides the musical nit-picking...given they are a Croatian choir at it wasn't that long ago Croatia was in the middle of a civil war, I wonder if any of them have lost a son in war as David did?
Wonderful singing but some of the diction by this choir makes my teeth clench.
