In the old lore, before vastaya was introduced as a separate race, Ahri was a curious fox, who accidentally has turned into a half-human after encountering a dying mage-lady. She used to want to be a human, so she decided to finish her transformation by eating human essence of her victims. She used her beauty to lure and kill people as an animal, but when the human part of her becomes stronger she realizes how cruel her means are. From the very beginning her character was about the conflict between animalistic cruelty and humanity. A creature, who learns what it means to be a human. I really like that Riot expanded this idea in new lore, highlighting her moral conflict with own nature.
I would've prefferred the Ruined King design but their reasoning behind doing this one seems actually pretty valid to me. It's supposed to have hints of the RK design, but it's mainly supposed to reflect her post-RK self. For instance, her RK design is a lot more feral and wild, which works well for that. But after the events of that game, she has learned to have better control of her powers than ever before, she's essentialy tamed that part of herself. This was the quote straight from the ASU devs: Now that she's finally let go of the burden of her past and the pain of her regrets, she can see the world and approach her future with excitement! While I prefferred the 'struggling with her nature and addiction' Ahri, I kinda respect their choice to let her character grow and develop. Even if she might come across a bit more generic now.
3:48 This is the 'meta' reason of why Ahri hired Yassuo. It was for the sake of having the character interactions. The story reason is she was trying to keep her vastaya/magical nature low-key. She could probably waste anyone that tried to mess with her, but having a body guard could save her from having to outright reveal herself. There is a general suscipion towards magic/vastaya in Runterra. Although honestly, I don't think it'd matter too much if she did show her magic, considering what she was trying to achieve.
the thing with yasuo is that he is someone who had already failed his brother when it came to their story, thus having yasuo as her bodyguard it gave him a reason to keep on and do something, the reason he cares for her so much is cause he doesn't wanna fail someone else like he did his brother
I think the fundamental problem with this idea is that it ultimately has nothing to do with ahri. By that i mean that his reason to care for her is only based around their situation, and not who she is. If say... Qiyana hired him for example, his reasons for caring would be about the same. If he was hired by Vayne, same thing. It makes this relationship almost exclusively business, which makes sense for Yasuo, but it would not make sense if they want Yasuo to develop feelings for her.

I get the examples i gave weren't the best since they are both kind of cold or bratty, but ahri isn't an especially nice woman either. Unless they wanted to subtly imply that ahri's charm magic is affecting him in a slow and almost unintentional way, it really doesn't make that much sense for him to fall for her.
I can at least somewhat buy ahri getting some feelings, but not because she likes him for who he is either, rather than just the fact that they are both somewhat lonely ionians. That's where their similarities end cuz their baggage isn't that similar outside of being partially responsible for the death of someone close to them and FEELING exiled. Not that it makes sense for Yasuo anymore.
I am an Ahri main and I can tell you the reason people play her a lot and continue it is because it is a lot of fun to skirt around team fights and move around but also because its funny to watch people try and catch her at times when you can move around and then die to her but she requires a decent amount of skill since when you're behind on her it is hard to come back. Unlike someone like alkali who can still kill people even if they are behind.
Uh lmao no, by being a main at this two champ Akali and Ahri, if you are behind with Akali you're going to struggle a lot to eliminate anything because you have to be in direct contact to kill priority target. When with Ahri even behind you can dash charm dash out re dash on you're reset charm etc etc, even behind you have a utility on controlling the fight.

I think before the vastaya lore rework, initially they were going directly for making Ahri a Kumiho/Hulijing. Spirit foxes that disguise as humans, many of which feast on human essence as western succubi do. I've been playing this champion that long to where I remember she was literally just a white fox... As an Ahri Main who plays her alot to this day, I can confirm I am mentally unstable. (I kinda enjoy her Mage-Assassine Hybrid Gameplay style tbh) And I just find her Spirit Blossom skin so pretty. Not even especially sexy, I just find she looks beautiful, in an aesthetic-way. Such a pretty ice fox.

Lmao love how you got a good idea of what the "Peak of fun" is with Ahri at 10:22. . . . . . . . I know it won't happen all the time, but a large part of why i loved the idea of casual reviews, is because you would get a hands-on approach at the champion and possibly discover something in-game that you did not know before. Its definitely relevant since so many champions are down in the dust lore-wise or design-wise to the point that gameplay is the only thing keeping them alive, and that's important. Can't wait for your next review on Akali cuz she is definitely one of those champions that makes you feel insane when things go well.
Btw Ahri is not really a succubus. She used to consume peoples souls, that is true, but she wouldn't do it in a sexual way. The closest thing to that was when she tragically killer her lover by losing control of her powers and accidentally consumed his soul. That left her - as you might imagine - VERY mentally scarred. She did eventually learn that the only reason her powers were even getting out of control was because she was afraid of them, so they were controlling her and not the other way around and has then learned how to control her powers. Hence the voiceline "To stay strong I hunt, but I am no longer afraid of losing control". Before that she would regularly hunt to feed on some animals souls to avoid losing control. This scared MF who said "Frankly, I'm just glad you're on our side..." after watching Ahri sneak off to hunt one night during the events of Ruined King. But Ahri never was a succubus and she most definitely isn't one now
Even Evelynn technically doesn't qualify as a succubus. Yes, she charms and uses sex appeal to bait you in but that's where it stops and the torture begins. No sex was performed and I don't think any soul draining is involved either

I'm a Kog'Maw main (I play both AD and AP), and one of the things which endears me to this channel is Nicky's genuine appreciation for Koggy, where others just ignore him or forget he even exists. I would be overjoyed to see a Casual Champion Review for the void puppy one day. Fingers crossed!
The rush I got from Ahri while maining her was definitely during teamfights as either that one to start it or the one to grab an important pick that snowballs into an important objective and/or inhib grab. True, her kit is simple to understand, which leads to a lot more macro-play rather than microplay. As you're encouraged to move around the map and use your E/Ult to grab important targets and expunge them, skirting around the edges of a fight by spell slinging and keeping the enemy at just the right distance. She's league only true kiting mage since no other mage in the game has the capability to dash around and sling spells at the range she has. Her character, by comparison, is one I regard as more 'elegant' than 'sexy'. True, Ahri has no shortage of sexual appeal, and her base is no different with exposed legs, shoulders, popped out cleavage, and a pretty face. But everything from her flowy animations, theme, and gameplay just flows into this swirl of untamed elegance that I found at home playing. Which while yes, the Ruined King design mixes in her feral side more, it doesn't completely reflect her league gameplay imo. Cause in the game of league, you're not pouncing on your prey to sink your teeth in them like a feral animal, you're playing with your food, catching them off guard before luring them away for the kill.
One of the reasons I like this series is cause of how relaxed and casual it is. League content is usually frentic and in your face which is by no means a bad thing. Thats part of why I love your content. But this feels like a nice break from all of that and is just as enjoyable
I get the point about Yas x Ahri being just main ship fuel or whatever, but also the main reason why I think they work together is just two lonely souls who need to heal and learn to open up and trust people, and I they can do that for each other.

Niki you do not comprehend the adrenaline rush of getting several ult recasts during a fight and having a passive triumph while dishing out big damage, I think rn Ahri is the most enjoyable to play she has ever been, and as simple of a champ she is, there's still a lot of depth and optimization that can be done in her gameplay. Also, the Ruined King design works for Ruined King because she was still working herself out in her arc, with her beauty contrasting withher wild side. Post-ASU, she's come to terms with who she is and with who she wants to be, which is why her WR look makes sense. It's more sleek and elegant, more composed, as is she.
i have seen that observation in the new dawn cimenatic too. ahri has blue eyes there, contrasting with her more inhuman yellow eyes in her ingame splash art. the commenter stated that the blue eyes could reflect her becoming more human
I think there is a lot of ways we can infer the events of Ruined King when it comes to Ahri x Yasuo. They are both very scarred people that they themselves are convinced they shouldn't fall in love or be close to anyone, but deep down i don't think either wants to be alone. They might be convinced that they don't need anyone else, yet they still are attracted to each other. Ahri having made the decision to find her people and then traveling to a country she has never been to you could probably infer that she might be scared of whats out there and that she might've wanted Yasuo as a sort of back-up bodyguard/guide despite not actually needing a guard. Yasuo being so duty bound to protect her is because of the duties he has failed in the past that still haunt him. I think the fact they both have a shared trauma of the past is what brings them closer and despite neither "wanting" to they get attracted to each-other. I don't think anyone can really control who or when one might fall in love, so I can at least get why they might do so despite their various character issues. I don't think it's far fetched to see two very attractive people get very attracted to each-other, despite said attractive characters also being the most popular characters in the game. I think it's neat.
If I remember here old lore right: She was a fox who somehow got magic powers from devouring a wizard. Then she begann to devour essence of people and got wisdom, power and human features but also lost more of her animal instincts and gets human emotions and consciousness instead. Most importatnly her guilt grew bigger until she despised herself for eating humans and wanted to fix that with the old Summoner league lore.

I think keeping the series format in consecutive order of champions is the most fair and constructive way of doing it , simply because jumping from x champion to y champion would end up making this more complicated than it needs to be ( also while people would wait for their main they could enjoy the chill gameplay and learn some new stuff about other champs )

I love this series a lot already, but I feel like I’d enjoy it a lot more if it wasn’t in alphabetical order. There’s going to be champs where there isn’t as much to say, and just spanning over the massive roster in such a set order feels like it might get repetitive. I think one approach that could work better is by playing champs by release order (accounting for reworks potentially) and casually seeing how each champion’s design philosophy has changed over the years would be so cool to watch. Love ur vids either way!
I will love to see these weekly. Even without your high quality editing is nice to hear your opinions on the champions. Maybe you could go with whatever champion you want to talk about the most or pick it randomized instead of going by alphabetical order. Just if you would rather that, of course!

As an Ahri main I might be able to provide some context to Ahri’s gameplay popularity. Her main appeal (besides fluffy tail) is that she’s incredibly diverse. Even in her most difficult matchups a good Ahri can find a way to be useful. Her toolkit allows her to be around the map constantly: splitpushing with great wave clear, hard pushing mid, or suddenly popping up bot or top out of nowhere. While Ahri as a concept is very simple and quick to learn, she has a high skill roof due to the sheer number of paths you can take as well as learning how to exploit her high mobility the more you play her. The CC Ahri has is also really nice. There’s more, but in the end the main appeal of her is that everyone who plays her starts to have a strange urge to touch fluffy things after a while. Those damn tails…
I do love watching scripted and very structured videos about league, but there's just something about this more casual style... I love how there seems to be no rush, and I'm looking forward to more of these!

this is a valid review but as an ahri main the simplicity in her kit and also fast paced mobility playing her is one of my favorite things about her. she’s very easy to understand and fluid at first but her skill shots and playstyle as essentially an assassin mage offers a lot of flexibility in team fights and room for mastery. kind of like her lore, i think she’s very simple to understand and grasp at first what she is and what she does but the more u play her and get to know the character she has a lot more depth and potential
You said you don't understand what Ahris gameplay gimmick is, so I think her skill celling is supposed to be using W and R in a way that your Q hits way more people than it should on the return. If someone in your general direction he can get hit twice too. Also as you're squishy and required to stand close to do damage it's fun to kite with her.
Clarification... Ahri is a Kumiho/Gumiho (depends how you pronounce it)... It is kinda like succubus... But some East Asian literature they treat kuhimo kind character but as years go by they treated her as a succubus-like creature who absorbs energy...

technically the korean version "gumiho", not the japanese "kitsune" (slight differences, japanese have good in all bad yokai. koreans don't.) because she was released to go along with the korean dedicated server launch

Okay, so my read on the Ahri/Yasuo thing in Ruined King (bear with me, it's been a while since I played it so my memory might be a little foggy): The impression I got was that Ahri was mostly using Yasuo as a way of getting over her past trauma of the love that she killed. You know how people with unresolved trauma will sometimes try to get into situations that are like the one that caused it in an effort to 'get it right this time', even though they know it's probably a bad idea? Yeah. That. So while she doesn't want to get close to Yasuo, at the same time she kind of does. HOWEVER. (Spoilers ahead, for those who haven't played the game.) That changes when she goes to the Vesani research facility on the Shadow Isles and learns about her heritage and why she has the ability to take soul essence and memories: that's the Vesani's thing, that's what they do, and with knowledge that was almost lost because of the Ruination she learns how to better control it. Ahri's character arc is resolved in the Ruined King by her being able to use her Vesani power to help the group gain memories of Viego's past that they then use to weaken him, making peace with her power by using it for good. To do this she also has to delete the Vesani's recordings, which I see as her letting go of her need to know more about her people and her past and resolving to step into an uncertain future, confident that she'll be able to adapt to it. I got the impression after Ahri and Yasuo both finished their character arcs (Yasuo's was LITERALLY the same one he'd had back in Ionia already) that they kinda both went 'ye, we *could* get together, but we don't really need to anymore' and then went their separate ways; I got the distinct feeling that any attachment between them was mostly a coping mechanism, and after getting over their personal baggage they didn't really need it anymore.

It's kind of strange to me that the rest of the Vasani are so far removed from the core parts of Ahri and the kumiho she's based on. Rather than being succubi they're benevolent magic researchers seeking to improve the world. There's no mention of them charming IIRC, and they though can eat souls, but they learn how to turn it off.
I was very surprised with your take on her relationship with Yasuo here. Not by the take itself - it makes sense - but by the fact that when you said it I had this visceral response as if you were saying something that’s completely untrue. But once I started thinking about it, I began to wonder why I like the ship if it doesn’t actually make any sense for Yasuo. It makes sense for Ahri’s next step to have a dynamic where she’s starting to connect to someone and is terrified of that personal connection, but it just doesn’t work on Yasuo’s end. And then it hit me. It’s too early for Yasuo. Yasuo’s current state in the lore is having been finally forgiven by his brother, and now all that’s left is for him to forgive himself. If he had accomplished that by the time he started to work with Ahri, he could find himself in a position where seeing a character who can’t forgive herself for who she is and pushes any emotional connection away in fear of endangering them resonates with him. He used to be like that. And if he managed to figure it out for himself after all these years, maybe he could help her do the same. But that’s not quite where Yasuo is as a character yet, and because lore is so sporadic I’m not sure if he’ll ever be that character.
10:40 I had a though What if her flames were used to lower her cooldowns for her rotations, very generic rotations but rotations none the less, or have if she hits the back side of her Q its next cast is reduced and deals more damage, happens every 12 sec. Or he Ultimat be her W, and she has the dash that works better with her abilities, with the increase in all in damage be her ultimate. Yeah it makes more since why she needs a change.

I think before the vastaya lore rework, initially they were going directly for making Ahri a Kumiho/Hulijing. Spirit foxes that disguise as humans, many of which feast on human essence as western succubi do.

I actually like Yasuo and Ahri's relationship, they're both trying to heal and find themselves.
As an Ahri Main who plays her alot to this day, I can confirm I am mentally unstable. (I kinda enjoy her Mage-Assassine Hybrid Gameplay style tbh)
And I just find her Spirit Blossom skin so pretty. Not even especially sexy, I just find she looks beautiful, in an aesthetic-way. Such a pretty ice fox.
I think it's worth mentioning that as a skarner main, I think it could be worth doing a casual champion review of him before his rework comes out so you can give your thoughts on him both pre and post-rework. Just a thought.

I know it won't happen all the time, but a large part of why i loved the idea of casual reviews, is because you would get a hands-on approach at the champion and possibly discover something in-game that you did not know before. Its definitely relevant since so many champions are down in the dust lore-wise or design-wise to the point that gameplay is the only thing keeping them alive, and that's important. Can't wait for your next review on Akali cuz she is definitely one of those champions that makes you feel insane when things go well.
Btw Ahri is not really a succubus. She used to consume peoples souls, that is true, but she wouldn't do it in a sexual way. The closest thing to that was when she tragically killer her lover by losing control of her powers and accidentally consumed his soul. That left her - as you might imagine - VERY mentally scarred. She did eventually learn that the only reason her powers were even getting out of control was because she was afraid of them, so they were controlling her and not the other way around and has then learned how to control her powers. Hence the voiceline "To stay strong I hunt, but I am no longer afraid of losing control". Before that she would regularly hunt to feed on some animals souls to avoid losing control. This scared MF who said "Frankly, I'm just glad you're on our side..." after watching Ahri sneak off to hunt one night during the events of Ruined King.
But Ahri never was a succubus and she most definitely isn't one now
Even Evelynn technically doesn't qualify as a succubus. Yes, she charms and uses sex appeal to bait you in but that's where it stops and the torture begins. No sex was performed and I don't think any soul draining is involved either

I'm a Kog'Maw main (I play both AD and AP), and one of the things which endears me to this channel is Nicky's genuine appreciation for Koggy, where others just ignore him or forget he even exists.

The rush I got from Ahri while maining her was definitely during teamfights as either that one to start it or the one to grab an important pick that snowballs into an important objective and/or inhib grab. True, her kit is simple to understand, which leads to a lot more macro-play rather than microplay. As you're encouraged to move around the map and use your E/Ult to grab important targets and expunge them, skirting around the edges of a fight by spell slinging and keeping the enemy at just the right distance. She's league only true kiting mage since no other mage in the game has the capability to dash around and sling spells at the range she has.
Her character, by comparison, is one I regard as more 'elegant' than 'sexy'. True, Ahri has no shortage of sexual appeal, and her base is no different with exposed legs, shoulders, popped out cleavage, and a pretty face. But everything from her flowy animations, theme, and gameplay just flows into this swirl of untamed elegance that I found at home playing. Which while yes, the Ruined King design mixes in her feral side more, it doesn't completely reflect her league gameplay imo. Cause in the game of league, you're not pouncing on your prey to sink your teeth in them like a feral animal, you're playing with your food, catching them off guard before luring them away for the kill.
One of the reasons I like this series is cause of how relaxed and casual it is. League content is usually frentic and in your face which is by no means a bad thing. Thats part of why I love your content. But this feels like a nice break from all of that and is just as enjoyable
I get the point about Yas x Ahri being just main ship fuel or whatever, but also the main reason why I think they work together is just two lonely souls who need to heal and learn to open up and trust people, and I they can do that for each other.

Niki you do not comprehend the adrenaline rush of getting several ult recasts during a fight and having a passive triumph while dishing out big damage, I think rn Ahri is the most enjoyable to play she has ever been, and as simple of a champ she is, there's still a lot of depth and optimization that can be done in her gameplay.

Also, the Ruined King design works for Ruined King because she was still working herself out in her arc, with her beauty contrasting withher wild side.
Post-ASU, she's come to terms with who she is and with who she wants to be, which is why her WR look makes sense. It's more sleek and elegant, more composed, as is she.
i have seen that observation in the new dawn cimenatic too. ahri has blue eyes there, contrasting with her more inhuman yellow eyes in her ingame splash art. the commenter stated that the blue eyes could reflect her becoming more human
I think there is a lot of ways we can infer the events of Ruined King when it comes to Ahri x Yasuo. They are both very scarred people that they themselves are convinced they shouldn't fall in love or be close to anyone, but deep down i don't think either wants to be alone. They might be convinced that they don't need anyone else, yet they still are attracted to each other.
Ahri having made the decision to find her people and then traveling to a country she has never been to you could probably infer that she might be scared of whats out there and that she might've wanted Yasuo as a sort of back-up bodyguard/guide despite not actually needing a guard. Yasuo being so duty bound to protect her is because of the duties he has failed in the past that still haunt him.
I think the fact they both have a shared trauma of the past is what brings them closer and despite neither "wanting" to they get attracted to each-other. I don't think anyone can really control who or when one might fall in love, so I can at least get why they might do so despite their various character issues. I don't think it's far fetched to see two very attractive people get very attracted to each-other, despite said attractive characters also being the most popular characters in the game. I think it's neat.

She was a fox who somehow got magic powers from devouring a wizard. Then she begann to devour essence of people and got wisdom, power and human features but also lost more of her animal instincts and gets human emotions and consciousness instead.
Most importatnly her guilt grew bigger until she despised herself for eating humans and wanted to fix that with the old Summoner league lore.
Very happy to see my main pop up for this and to hear your thoughts on her. While she might not be as fun as everyone else might be, I love her and her gameplay is so fun. Thanks for making amazing content, can't wait to see what's next!

I think keeping the series format in consecutive order of champions is the most fair and constructive way of doing it , simply because jumping from x champion to y champion would end up making this more complicated than it needs to be ( also while people would wait for their main they could enjoy the chill gameplay and learn some new stuff about other champs )

I like how this series is basically just “Chillin Wit Da Boi”, and we happen to be talking about character design.
I love this series a lot already, but I feel like I’d enjoy it a lot more if it wasn’t in alphabetical order. There’s going to be champs where there isn’t as much to say, and just spanning over the massive roster in such a set order feels like it might get repetitive. I think one approach that could work better is by playing champs by release order (accounting for reworks potentially) and casually seeing how each champion’s design philosophy has changed over the years would be so cool to watch. Love ur vids either way!

As an Ahri main I might be able to provide some context to Ahri’s gameplay popularity. Her main appeal (besides fluffy tail) is that she’s incredibly diverse. Even in her most difficult matchups a good Ahri can find a way to be useful. Her toolkit allows her to be around the map constantly: splitpushing with great wave clear, hard pushing mid, or suddenly popping up bot or top out of nowhere.
While Ahri as a concept is very simple and quick to learn, she has a high skill roof due to the sheer number of paths you can take as well as learning how to exploit her high mobility the more you play her.
The CC Ahri has is also really nice.
There’s more, but in the end the main appeal of her is that everyone who plays her starts to have a strange urge to touch fluffy things after a while. Those damn tails…
I do love watching scripted and very structured videos about league, but there's just something about this more casual style... I love how there seems to be no rush, and I'm looking forward to more of these!

this is a valid review but as an ahri main the simplicity in her kit and also fast paced mobility playing her is one of my favorite things about her. she’s very easy to understand and fluid at first but her skill shots and playstyle as essentially an assassin mage offers a lot of flexibility in team fights and room for mastery. kind of like her lore, i think she’s very simple to understand and grasp at first what she is and what she does but the more u play her and get to know the character she has a lot more depth and potential

You said you don't understand what Ahris gameplay gimmick is, so I think her skill celling is supposed to be using W and R in a way that your Q hits way more people than it should on the return. If someone in your general direction he can get hit twice too. Also as you're squishy and required to stand close to do damage it's fun to kite with her.
Clarification... Ahri is a Kumiho/Gumiho (depends how you pronounce it)... It is kinda like succubus... But some East Asian literature they treat kuhimo kind character but as years go by they treated her as a succubus-like creature who absorbs energy...
Kinda off topic but you mentioned it. I think asexual/aromantic people are actually the best people to comment on ships. They can watch them play out like animal planet and give objective statements. Especially since alot of ships are just "they'd look hot or cute together"

I mean if it ain’t obvious, Ahri is based off of the Kitsune in Japanese folklore. They are fox spirits that can be the equivalent to a succubus, they are also worshipped as goddesses of fertility, wealth and good harvest of crops.

yes and no, she is base in a Gumiho/kumiho, which is basically the same but from korean folklore, and ahri is realted to korea -release, skins and pseudo official canon like kda- so she soudl eb address by the korean folklore no japanese
technically the korean version "gumiho", not the japanese "kitsune" (slight differences, japanese have good in all bad yokai. koreans don't.) because she was released to go along with the korean dedicated server launch

Okay, so my read on the Ahri/Yasuo thing in Ruined King (bear with me, it's been a while since I played it so my memory might be a little foggy):
The impression I got was that Ahri was mostly using Yasuo as a way of getting over her past trauma of the love that she killed. You know how people with unresolved trauma will sometimes try to get into situations that are like the one that caused it in an effort to 'get it right this time', even though they know it's probably a bad idea? Yeah. That. So while she doesn't want to get close to Yasuo, at the same time she kind of does.
HOWEVER. (Spoilers ahead, for those who haven't played the game.)
That changes when she goes to the Vesani research facility on the Shadow Isles and learns about her heritage and why she has the ability to take soul essence and memories: that's the Vesani's thing, that's what they do, and with knowledge that was almost lost because of the Ruination she learns how to better control it. Ahri's character arc is resolved in the Ruined King by her being able to use her Vesani power to help the group gain memories of Viego's past that they then use to weaken him, making peace with her power by using it for good. To do this she also has to delete the Vesani's recordings, which I see as her letting go of her need to know more about her people and her past and resolving to step into an uncertain future, confident that she'll be able to adapt to it.
I got the impression after Ahri and Yasuo both finished their character arcs (Yasuo's was LITERALLY the same one he'd had back in Ionia already) that they kinda both went 'ye, we *could* get together, but we don't really need to anymore' and then went their separate ways; I got the distinct feeling that any attachment between them was mostly a coping mechanism, and after getting over their personal baggage they didn't really need it anymore.
Asol did get delayed twice in fact, he was supposed to come out in December and then January but he finally got released in February

It's kind of strange to me that the rest of the Vasani are so far removed from the core parts of Ahri and the kumiho she's based on. Rather than being succubi they're benevolent magic researchers seeking to improve the world. There's no mention of them charming IIRC, and they though can eat souls, but they learn how to turn it off.
I was very surprised with your take on her relationship with Yasuo here. Not by the take itself - it makes sense - but by the fact that when you said it I had this visceral response as if you were saying something that’s completely untrue. But once I started thinking about it, I began to wonder why I like the ship if it doesn’t actually make any sense for Yasuo. It makes sense for Ahri’s next step to have a dynamic where she’s starting to connect to someone and is terrified of that personal connection, but it just doesn’t work on Yasuo’s end.
And then it hit me. It’s too early for Yasuo. Yasuo’s current state in the lore is having been finally forgiven by his brother, and now all that’s left is for him to forgive himself. If he had accomplished that by the time he started to work with Ahri, he could find himself in a position where seeing a character who can’t forgive herself for who she is and pushes any emotional connection away in fear of endangering them resonates with him. He used to be like that. And if he managed to figure it out for himself after all these years, maybe he could help her do the same. But that’s not quite where Yasuo is as a character yet, and because lore is so sporadic I’m not sure if he’ll ever be that character.
10:40 I had a though What if her flames were used to lower her cooldowns for her rotations, very generic rotations but rotations none the less, or have if she hits the back side of her Q its next cast is reduced and deals more damage, happens every 12 sec.
Or he Ultimat be her W, and she has the dash that works better with her abilities, with the increase in all in damage be her ultimate.
Yeah it makes more since why she needs a change.
