Fun project. So many possibilities with fantastic results. At least 1/4 of my shirts are done this way. Thanks for the educational tutorial.

LuckyLondon62 It happens, hopefully I still got my point across :) . Most of my work I use rubber bands. #16 and #19 are the sizes I use. With some other sizes just in case.
OMG! I about die when I have to use more than 5 bands! AWESOME work. Thanks for sharing!
You explained it very well and that shirt came out awesome!

Good choice of background music......and perfect volume to boot !

I did one shortly after the post and we'll see how it turns out. I followed your instructions with slightly different colors but should end up with similar results. Thanks again!
warlord1958

Your the best loved your tutorial
Dude this tutorial is great
Really nice one
This i Looove!! Totally doing it. (Great voice2)
hi Daniel, I love your videos. I have learned alot from you. on your website there us a short sleeve xl shirt called brown star. Could you PLEASE make a tutorial on how to get the white lines that look rather much like a dream catcher?
+Jonathan feldman Yes, thanks for the suggestion!
I would like to see one done with Camo Colors. Would you use white or use a Khaki color shirt? or white with multi cam colors?
Were tie dye is applicable to jeans? Whether a pants or a blouse? Were the method of doing it is the same with white shirts?
I want to tie dye a shirt using the crinkle technique and I came across your video and love how your shirt came out. I want to try this but I only want to use a couple colours which are fuchsia, turquoise, blue, purple, and violet. I was wondering if you could tell me how I could do my shirt using those colours to make it look good!
duuuuuude that looks sick!!
Thanks.
xd I love ur voice, u sound like u just woke up
Thank you cannot wait to try it out.
this is really rad!
Daniel, do use the dry or wet technique when dying? Enjoyed the tutorial... Thanks
DOUGLAS FOREMAN Damp the majority of the time. dry sometimes, wet sometimes...
Nice one dude !!!!
This is pretty cool
Really cool!
Thanks. It is a fun fold that really changes when you use different color combinations.
wow that was great
What kind or dye do you use? Do you add vinegar or anything to the dye? What settings should you wash the shirt on also?
Looks freaking awesome (:
i love ur t-shirts so much i want one ?? :)
very good video thank you!
His voice reminds me of Joe from Family Guy😂but loved the video !!
Thanks
great video. thanks!! a question- how do you think putting a top layer of dye like this over a traditional spiral would look???
More awesome than normal: Check.
Ki'Ajera Blackston Hopefully normal is awesome also!
I’m gonna try this on a beater I hope it works out.
thank you thank you thank you.... ive been tie dying shirts for a while now and know the design. but never really dyed it that way. gives it such a great pop. i use the same type of dye as you and it looks great and doesn't fade, thanks for being so descriptive. can you explain on how i should prep my shirts tho.. because i use soda ash and let it sit for about an hour then i usually ring it out and fold the shirt up, then dye.. would you recommend this?
Mike Nieto I wait a minimum of 15 minutes in the soda ash, with prewashed fabric. I spin in the washing machine, depending on the design I will put the item in the dryer under no heat and check it every 5-15 minutes until I get the material to the desired dampness, experiment. I have heard a mop bucket with the thing to ring out the mop can work as well. I hope that helps.
okay yeah thank you! ill try some things out. thanks for the quick reply. I'm a big fan of your channel and your work... one last thing, do you know where i can get fabric to dye for a like tapestry?
Mike Nieto A good source of fabric to practice tapestries is second hand stores/ thrift shops. I make sure to let people know what is a recycled item and which ones are new.
That was sooo many rubber bands lmao. Good demonstration tho I'll try that
That's tight
TeeOozy Thanks! it is a 2XL so it is actually loose, a bunch. However it is still tight!
Roslyn Rags how has no one seen this joke yet lol!
Roslyn Rags lol this guy 😂
Hi
i love the designe nice one
inshira mae escober Thank you. Colors are fun!
I have been interested in starting to tie dye...love your work. what dies and washing techniques do you use? could use any advice! for a beginner.
"sloppin down some dye" **hits upvote
Do u do this all the time looks amazing
Not all the time, but It takes up a large part of my life.
nice vid, are you suppose to remove the rubber bands before washing ?
***** I will wash it out once to get the majority of the excess dye out, then I will take out the rubber bands.
(: "That was very groovy! Thanks for this video please keep it up! I can't wait to a shirt like this! But in my own color's though! PEACE be with you & PEACE be to all babies in womb's too from Pure Angel!" :)
Could totally double up as a make your own Frisbee video :P
I wish my dyes reacted to discs. I am not sure what dyes they use...
7:25 I'M DONEZO...XD i must of replayed that part 10x
Seeinsounds Kendrick :) I am not sure if adding sound effects on the fly is the best idea. Thanks for the comment!
nice one
Great looking shirt design, ignore my comment. I was frustrated with the overlay links and had to watch on a desktop to get rid of them.
Chris Kern No worries. Thanks for the insight. I only watch youtube on my desktop. I should probably not watch youtube video-help from 2008!
So did putting LOTS of rubber bands help make it look like that
Bella Kicksbutt Maybe. Rubberbands can make their own mark. I feel they help stabilize the piece as I move it around.
asome shirt
Steven Bernard Thanks!
Do you do any type of pre treat to the shirt b4 you begin the crinkle and dye process ?
WOOOOOW
Hey Daniel!! Love all of your simple instructions!! They are really clear and easy to understand. I have a question: Do you experiment with other colours on the crinkle? If so, what are they? On this one you use R. O. Y. turn over and do V. and B. and do both sides with some G. Have you had success with other combos? (Iv'e sub'd Turquoise for B and Raspberry for R.) Also what do you mean when you say you use your dyes at a 20? Thanks man!!
Leroy Wolfe I have a selection of 20 base dyes that I use. I have the primary Turquoise, Yellow, Fucshia. I use 4 different greens, etc. For crinkles I will try everything, dark green on one side, with brown on the other, and black on top of both can make a nice camo effect, depending on your local flora.
Can you give more details on the washing out? How is that done?
Does the dye stain the rack? Like if I were to use a oven rack would it stain that?
Nice job! I noticed you scrunched and tied while it was inside out, was there a reason for this?
i like what u do, i have something little to ask about a colors u use, which one u use and is possible to create ur own
I use Procion Mx Fiber Reactive dye. There should be a link to the websites I order my dye from in the video description, but here you go:
www.dharmatrading.com/
www.grateful-dyes.com/
If you understand the chemistry of it, you could probably make your own dyes. I haven't gotten there yet. You can also use natural dyes, but you won't get the same kind of colors.
you are good
Did you start with a wet or dry shirt? It looks damp when you fold it, but can't tell for sure.
Thanks for helping me
Awesome Olive I am glad it helped!
really enjoyed tutorial, but i have a question, the dye you link to says it needs soda ash reaction to set, but you dont do that step, is it neccesay or did you use a different dye?
awesome
How much dye would you all together probably use for a 2x t-shirt?? Because I was going to buy like 3 dye colors and I wanted to know if a 2 oz would be enough for each color? Please help!! Thanks!
sarahdirectioner I generally say the weight of fabric will hold that much dye.I would guess your shirt is about 12 ounces, so maybe 6-2 ounce bottles will be enough. You can always buy more dye, and fold up an extra shirt to use the extra dye...
What type of shirts work best for dyeing? Are thicker ones better than thinner?
Dye penetrates thinner fabrics much faster and will require less in terms of quantity. Thicker fabrics will require more dye plus it'll need a stronger concentration to penetrate the thicker fibers. Just remember cold water dyes will only penetrate natural fabrics. Hope this helps.
amazing colours dude! doesnt even look REAL! if u know what i mean! lol
I hear you. I can't tell if my designs are truthful, since it is just a white shirt after all.
Is there anything you can put on the shirt that will prevent the dye from coloring?
What colors do u use? Looks so awesome😍
I use a variety of colors from dharmatrading.com and bestdye.com
I don't really remember which colors I used on this design.
