The lip balm actually worked. It didn't remove any scratches from what I can tell but it did make the games play. I did have to fiddle with opening and closing the lid a few times at the start but once you get past that they work flawlessly
Update: this only worked with my mario kart double dash game, except I used everything in this video on it, all the methods, which seemed to do the trick. Using just lip balm and nothing else doesn't really work for me. I've tried it on my mario galaxy 1 and 2 games, and lego star wars 2 and no luck. Maybe mario kart double dash just wasnt that bad idk

The lip balm method worked for my Wii Sports Resort. The limp balm I used was "Burt's Bees" I think any limp balm would do the trick but that's what I went with.

@gvg4145 Wait, some characters don't work? Mine was really scratched up and all the characters were working but the intro kept giving me a read disc error until I kept skipping it and now the game goes to the menu and it stops reading.
The chapstick thing helped a little for my SADX disc, before I could only watch the intro movie but now I can traverse the menus too. Edit: works just fine now
One problem with my brawl disc. There is one miscolered spot and that's why it would t work. It lets u watch the cut scene, pick a character then "the disc cannot be read" what should I do?
Resurfacing stores can be small store located in a city. Check google maps in your area to find any of theses shops. Also library’s should have a machine too, so check your nearest library.
Unfortunately, this didn't work for my disc. Idk what's wrong with it, I did all methods, instert it multiple times, and even resurfaced it. Even so I really appreciate your content and love to see more tips in the future!!

@@hipoleto so I was able to get the start menu but when I clicked start I got the error that it can’t read the disc. I tried this trick but it did not work. I ended up having to buy another copy of the game.
I would advise to avoid wiping in a circular motion. I’ve seen it recommended several times elsewhere to wipe in a straight line from the hole of the disc to the edge, rotating the disc until you’re finished. A paper towel is also abrasive so that can actually add more scratches to the disc. I think the lip balm is ultimately what helped your game work again out of all the methods you gave us

Dude no no no Dont use lip balm First off windex On a fiber cloth NEVER EVER USE PAPER TOWELS And fillers are temporary solutions, you will never get the same results For example I had a copy of SWBF2 that was sitting in a sock, yikes, cleaning it didnt work, so i used the method that i thought was the worst so i used toothpaste the most basic form and tried looking the most proper thing to use before doing it, and you know what it fuckin worked and still works and plays on my xbox one On the other hand....years before i had a very very fucked up copy of modern warfare and tried the toothpaste method with no success I would never in a thousand years probably ever do this or lip balm ever again
You know the data for your game is stored on your console. On modern consoles, they download the game and just need the disc for signatures, but idk about older consoles
If you have a game with deep scratches that doesn't work, it's probably because the data on the disc, which is stored on an aluminum layer, has been damaged/destroyed, so yeah you can only get a new game in that case
It was a gamecube disc and I retried it on my gamecube. It does not recognize it as a gamecube disc too. I think it might be due to the lip balm. Please help
Hi, my issue is that my Wii U disc has some “invisible” scratches and lines that extend onto the inner ring, By invisible I mean that they aren’t easily visible on the reflective surface of the disc. Is there a way to fix this or is my disc done for? Side note: I’ve gotten it to work before after a few tries but now it’s being extra stubborn.
This is why I buy digitally people are always afraid of something will happen when they buy didgitally but the odds of those things happening are lower than loosing your disc your disc being lost and just being destroyed especially me and anyone who’s family doesn’t respect discs and puts them in the wrong cases and leave the cases out in the open for the hounds
Not even. If you take care of your discs they will last decades. I know because I've had my PS1 and GameCube games forever. And they all work. I have however, bought many games online that I no longer have access to😅 Btw I'm here cuz I bought a game off eBay that's not working
@aako-dd1ly the taking care part is important. I stayed at a house for a week which had 5 wii games and 11 dvd's. All worked except for 1 wii and 1 dvd, and they looked like godzilla had gotten hold of them. Keep in mind it's a very pet friendly house

I tried This with turtle wax, And it read the disc on The Homepage But it won't play, it's Scratched a bit on the edges Pretty brutally but it's not broken through.
This literally broke my starfox adventures , like it stopped every 5 mins now it won’t load , I washed it in water , dried , put on vaseline , dried and then micro fibre
Maybe your disc is cracked or has an error inside of it, and being touched by the lip bomb triggered it and doesn’t work. Also keep in mind that the top of the disc doesn’t matter.

I tried doing the lip balm on my copies of Super Mario Sunshine and the Mega Man anniversary collection but they didn’t work
This is probably most likely why later consoles that uses discs now download the game from the disc to system and only needs the disc for the license.

Maybe get the disk resurfaced as it may fix that problem. I used to get a problem similar to that on brawl, just with Subspace and game overs.

Basically you take it to a store and have layers removed and put back on the disc.

The best option is to take it to get resurfaced. Try your local library or game store.

It was a gamecube disc and I retried it on my gamecube. It does not recognize it as a gamecube disc too. I think it might be due to the lip balm. Please help
Hi, my issue is that my Wii U disc has some “invisible” scratches and lines that extend onto the inner ring, By invisible I mean that they aren’t easily visible on the reflective surface of the disc. Is there a way to fix this or is my disc done for?
Side note: I’ve gotten it to work before after a few tries but now it’s being extra stubborn.

This is why I buy digitally people are always afraid of something will happen when they buy didgitally but the odds of those things happening are lower than loosing your disc your disc being lost and just being destroyed especially me and anyone who’s family doesn’t respect discs and puts them in the wrong cases and leave the cases out in the open for the hounds
Not even. If you take care of your discs they will last decades. I know because I've had my PS1 and GameCube games forever. And they all work. I have however, bought many games online that I no longer have access to😅

@aako-dd1ly the taking care part is important. I stayed at a house for a week which had 5 wii games and 11 dvd's. All worked except for 1 wii and 1 dvd, and they looked like godzilla had gotten hold of them. Keep in mind it's a very pet friendly house

Tried it on Wii sports didn't work :( I put lip balm all over it then used a wet paper towel to get it off. I think it's just the fact that the disc is so scratched it's beyond repair. any idea what I might be doing wrong. ( I already cleaned it )

Try opening the top then closing it again. If that doesn't work you may need to pick up another copy of the game.

I tried This with turtle wax, And it read the disc on The Homepage But it won't play, it's Scratched a bit on the edges Pretty brutally but it's not broken through.

For me it works for like a couple seconds and then it says the game disc could not be read
This literally broke my starfox adventures , like it stopped every 5 mins now it won’t load , I washed it in water , dried , put on vaseline , dried and then micro fibre

Maybe your disc is cracked or has an error inside of it, and being touched by the lip bomb triggered it and doesn’t work. Also keep in mind that the top of the disc doesn’t matter.
