  • Let's head underwater and watch how bass react to some of our favorite baits! In today's underwater video we've Texas-Rigged some of the most popular creature baits on the market and are presenting them to largemouth and smallmouth bass. Do you ever wonder what your baits look like underwater? Have you wondered what movements get the most bites? Come underwater with us and find out!
    We focused on 5 key creature baits. These baits have proven themselves over and over, all filling different niches in our fishing. Pay attention to the subtle details between them as you decide which might be the best for your fishing needs. A couple immediate standouts include Big Bite's ability to float vertically above the grass and the Keitech's incredible swim at slow speeds. If you look closely you'll notice subtle details in each offering.
    Below is a breakdown of all the baits in the video. We included the terminal tackle used as well as rods and reels we recommend for this technique. The Texas Rig is an incredibly effective way to catch bass throughout the year and should be added to your arsenal if you're not already putting it to work.

    My biggest takeaway is the MENTAL aspect of T-Rig fishing. Fish really examine and study the baits. I wonder how many fish I have yanked baits away from. Sounds obvious, but you need to assume that a fish is ALWAYS looking at your bait. Great analysis at end, Matt. 2 great lessons. Thank you.

    The Flying Squirrel really impressed me. Those long tentacles that just stood up seemed to trigger those bites. Cool stuff, and now I have to have some tilapia colored baits

    • @ScroDiddly
      @ScroDiddly 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a worm squirell tail bait. The tail floats very well. They are are great on a shakey head.

    • @yakangler419
      @yakangler419 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marshall Odham III what do you see as major difference between shaky head and these T rigs? I know obvious weight/hook configurations, but in terms of when you would use one over another? They seem quite interchangeable

    • @ScroDiddly
      @ScroDiddly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yakangler419 the t rig has a hook and weight separate and gets more movement. Shakey head for me is better with cover and doesn't get tangled as much. We have a ton of hydrilla here. And the shakey head reacts more with smaller movements of rod tip.

    • @ScroDiddly
      @ScroDiddly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yakangler419 what I mean by more t rig movement, is that when it is still, the currents carry the entire bait more and not just the tail and the hook can move more not being part of the weight.
      Buoyancy of the bait is a factor too. A shakey head stays more upright and a lil longer upright with a heavy bait too.

    • @chasingthefish9042
      @chasingthefish9042 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shaky version is a killer but sometimes you have to slow down and make sure they have it because some bass love to grab it by the tail and hold on to it.

    Years ago ( honestly decades at this point ) there was a creature bait I used to slay fish with. It had triangular shaped front "wings", the double paddles like a zoom brush hog but a single large curly tail instead of the double ribbon tails like the zoom. I loved it because the wings gave it more of a gliding fall with a light weight and the single tail thumped more than other creature bait tails.

    Alright, so, I live in Michigan. Spring warmth is right around the corner and I plan to use some softplastics. Local forage is bluegill, crayfish minnows just to name a few. Any colors of softplastics anyone would recommend to use this far up north. I have caught some pretty big bass on green pumpkin and watermelon red flake/watermelon candy colors.

    Idea for a video: The series of prespawn vids including baits, technique, underwater, and locations have been awesome. I would like to see an application of all the videos in the past few weeks. It would be educational to see the "approach" Matt and Tim take out on the water going to a variety of locations with search and finesse baits, to watch them talk through and nail down a pattern. Also, with 2 fishermen, what is Matt using while Tim is throwing a particular bait. When you go out, what baits do you have initially rigged on your rods?

    It's always funny how when I'm watching videos from you guys or some of the other TH-cam channels many of you guys talk about, when the bite is slow, try finesse fishing a Texas Rig. I throw other stuff from time to time, but if I'm flat out fishing to catch fish, T-Rig is my go to. Especially now with all these fun new creature baits we've been getting.

    As a kid growing up I used baby brush hogs like crazy , was by far my favorite bait . Recently I bought two packs of manbearpigs , first fish I caught was a 3.48lbs on one . They work very well , I prefer them over the brush hogs. I’m defiantly going to pick up a few Keitech Crazy Flappers they look awesome . Great video as always 👍

    They seemed to commit to the baby brush hog the least. It seemed like they swiped at it more than any other. Still amazing to see how and why some are hooked weird or missed in general

    The keitech was pretty good. But I think I'm in on the flying squirrel By big baits. Thos two floating ends in the back of the squirrel have the best secondary reaction for me. I catch most bigger bass on lures like this.

    Never used the crazy flapper but definitely a great looking bait. I love using the man bear pig.

    Crazy Flapper has been absolutely killer for me up in Canada. In the 3.6” size for me though

    When is the best time of year to throw a lipless bait? I ordered 4 of the LV 500 and by far are the best I have ever used.🐟
