- Come underwater and watch how bass interact with your lures! From the sheer speed of a largemouth, to the aggressiveness of schooling fish, let's take a look at the world below the surface of your local lakes! Some of these fish are stalking their prey, others are defensive, and others are reacting to movement. It's amazing what we can learn!
In today's footage we're watching bass in a variety of situations. From topwater to jigs, swimbaits to creatures, these bass are aggressive! Some of them stalk their prey, others ambush. Some are brutal hunters while others nip at passing food. There is so much to be learned from each of these clips.
Below you'll find links to the exact baits and gear we used in the footage. We've listed the exact colors and components for each lure, in the order it appeared in the video. We've also included some great combos for fishing these presentations. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I’m almost more interested in that wall of fame behind you. Maybe you guys could do an episode where you break down some of the highlight catches of your careers? I would absolutely love that.
Matt's mancave like an episode of MTV cribs lol
It's so nice to watch a channel that doesn't clickbait, doesn't have cringe thumbnails, and isn't constantly trying to push a product. It's so rare to see youtube channels that actually care about the things they are talking about. You guys not only talk the talk but walk the walk as well and have since the very beginning!! NEVER EVER CHANGE!!! Not taking the easy way out and continuing to grind on the daily. You guys will always have my respect as some of the few people in life that aren't sellouts. Thank You for setting such an outstanding example!
I’ve been fishing bass for 50 years and learn something new every time I watch your videos. I love watching your underwater videos because so much information can be gained from watching the Bass’ underwater behaviour before striking.
Thank you, Matt. It's very interesting to watch high-quality underwater footage like this. Good luck to those heading out to have a go at the bass today, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!
The seven pounder- "see you there stupid I told you not to do it"
The three pounder- "It's all good, I got my picture taken, I got kissed and I'm back here to tell you all about it"! 😂😂😂
I don't know how these videos don't get more views... they're INCREDIBLE!
BUT, I'm glad they don't because now this will be my secret weapon to catching more 😎 (not really, you deserve the success and much more for this awesome hard work)
This really helps me understand what's going on down there. I appreciate the work you and Tim put in!
The Bass attacking the bluegill bait is my favorite. It pretty much puts to rest the myth that Bass always hit bluegill head first to avoid the dorsal fins. It also clearly illustrates that if you were to have set the hook the moment you felt that bite you would have swung and missed because she didnt have the hook until the second gulp. Love the underwater footage!!
I could not agree more @texasoutdoors9906, very valuable information. I have noticed a similar need to guarantee the target fish has the lure completely before setting the hook with most saltwater species.
Thanks Matt for sharing this amazing underwater footage. It's so cool to see whats going on underwater when we get bit! What really struck me on some of the footage is how hard and fast the bass flee with the bait. I'm just amazed at how fast, powerful and aggressive, like the one T-boning the other, they can be.
That was an awesome video! That got my heart rate up!
I LOVE these videos!!!!
I love schooling Bass they feed off each other's aggression they don't have time to check out the bait because when you snooze you loose. I've seen this with Bass around schools of bluegills as well they get in a frenzy. When I was a kid fishing farm ponds I would always use live frogs and bluegills and I don't know how many times I seen a Bass rip a bait from another's mouth the same thing with Smalley's and live crawfish but with the Smalley's I've seen two or more trying to get the bait from the hooked fish. Great video the footage you get underwater is awesome and really shows what's going on down there it's a view we rarely get to witness and helps a tremendous amount so thanks for all your hard work and information.
Awesome video!
🔥🔥Matt and Tim I absolutely love the underwater footage, thank 👏👏❤️
Dude, you’re the best!!!!😮😮
Great Video! You guys make my day
First!
Incredible footage!!!! Thx Matt!!! keep them coming
Was fishing a pond over the weekend and I noticed a 3 pounder floating belly up on the shoreline. I grabbed it to investigate and it had another largemouth down its gullet with the tail sticking out. I’d estimate the bass it ate was around a pound but it was too much for that 3 pounder to handle and it choked to death. I had seen TH-cam videos where people fish bass out of the water that are choking on bluegill or other fish but this was the first time I got to see it up close. By the way, moving that decomposing bass did not smell too good!
Excellent video
This is so cool!!!! Love it!!!! Helps me how to work the jigs also! Thank you!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love these underwater videos. The first bass was unreal. He was acting like a striper! I was throwing wakes at night in the dead calm, no wind , no sound, throwing different wakes, different speeds and nothing after over 2 hours. Put a loon 130 on and started doing a few different speeds trying to figure them out, when I decided to rip pause, let it sit, repeat second cast I got a 4. Less than 10 casts later, I got my 6. Still my biggest plopper fish.
Unreal footage !!!
Awesome video. Thanks Matt. Love the underwater footage 💪🏽🎣
Underwater videos are the most exciting action shots and I could watch them all day. Great timing on a video to fire us up. Thanks Matt.
Excellent!
Awesome lesson 👏! Thank you.
I love underwater footage thanks for sharing these clips
more like this please. so informative.
Awesome footage under water!!
Thank you for teaching I really appreciate it I have learned a lot from you guys thank you again
Great work getting underwater footage.
Love it, great work as always
I learned so much about how to present different baits from this video! Thanks.
Great job , love the underwater footage, shows us how bass react to different baits at times
I love the underwater footage!
I have only one word: Awesome! Thanks.
So awesome
Thanks for the great footage, I love the 7lber ramming the smaller fish, so aggressive!!
Cool 😎
Keep Doing What You Do Matt!! Always Great😁
Great video Great information. Bassmd
Matt that was really neat to see the underwater footage! I find it interesting to see how they react to the baits! Thank you to you and Tim for all the videos!!
Underwater vid are the best thankz Matt for sharing knowledge to us you guys rock the game
Thanks Matt. I think we all really learn a lot watching your underwater videos. Not only informative but also very interesting!!
Really enjoyed this Matt. Tim and you have expanded my lures and methods to the madness. That would be fish crazy to you young n's. Thank you🎣
Nice video Tim and FYI if you ever scuba dive you will see no matter how fast you think you can retrieve a bait fish are so fast when they want to be.
Your underwater videos are always amazing Thank you
That was killer to see Matt, thanks for sharing some of these great shots, your under water videos are super enlighting, I love when you guys do the lure and soft bait comparisons under water, I use those heavily in choosing what to buy. thanks
This was an amazing video!!! Always love yalls underwater videos. Thanks for sharing!
Great job. You guys have to come down to Florida. As you can see with the Toyota series two weeks ago and the Bassmaster Open, the spawn is in full swing and records are being broken during this season already 😉
hey Matt! Very cool footage for sure! I will say, it’s odd to see you do an inside vid because you guys are always outdoors!! 😂 Enjoyed it!
I love the subsurface whopper popper footage. One of my favorite baits to throw early morning.
A buddy of mine found and caught a bed fish 2 days ago, I didn’t believe him so I went to see for myself. Sure enough there’s 2 fish paired up on a bed in the beginning of February 😮 This puts into perspective how there is isolated populations of bass, which means they don’t all start making moves at once. this is what makes the spawn season so fun because it could last longer than what we’ve been taught
In the 3rd clip it was just an older bass trying to stop his friend .Older bass screamed, Nooooo jim its a trap ! Then he tried to tackle him before he chomped down on the hook .
Dude I caught a #1 .on a kastkng zephyr #6 topknot,Coogan banger bfs crank. Got it right to bank . Ang a #7 came up and ate both !! Was unreal!! # tinyboatmonsterbass
A storm just passed here in NorCal. Are you able to make a content regarding how to fish post storm? Where these greenies might go? If not, I’ll take an answer here lol 🙌
Just excited to fish this post storm this coming weekend.
Picture of the arapaima reminded me, are we ever going to get to see the South America footage you talked about a couple years ago or no.....?
I see those pictures behind you of the Amazon trip. Bang bang bang AMAZON AMAZON AMAZON
That last clip must be the way I once caught two nice bass at one time on the same lure (a Rebel popper) in a pond in Ft Myers FL. One on its front treble and one on the rear. They must have raced to get to it and hit it at the same time. Fortunately the 8lb test held up, and I landed them before the alligator that frequented that pond, notorious for being drawn to fishing activity, came over to make it a three-fer.
It really looked like the larger bass tried to snatch the bait out of the 3lb basses mouth. U see that in the animal kingdom everywhere. Pretty cool
You should go over the baits on your wall and why you put them there. I know you have some memories stored in those baits, and I want to hear the stories. 🧐
Matt, Is it posible that the 7 pounder just learned a tactic of banging into a smaller fish that beat him to the bait?? Maybe he's learned that if he crashes into a bass that has a bait already, that bass may cough it up and make an easy meal of a wounded bait for the big bass? It look like the big bass was just waiting around to see if there was a spit up bait in the water. or maybe to see if his smaller buddy was caught (not). Either way 7 lb wins. That would make for an interesting adaptation.
Angry bass, Bully Bass or both?
Any thoughts?
I've enjoyed all year underwater footage throughout the years.
I havent heard or seen any comments about how loud and clear you can hear the rattles on some if the baits
On the clip with the TRD craw, is that trolling motor noise?
You guys invent a swimbait with the hook more toward the head and reversed. Never get stuck and catch the head shoters. Just call it the Duncan Allen with a smaller version, the Little Duncan. Genius!😂
❤👍
I feel like sometime bass just attack lures cuz they want to hone in their skills. Some predators when there is an abundant of food source they start killing prey without eating them.
Love the clips. I went twice finally and I did catch 1 about 3# on an Alabama rig. But didn’t catch it on the main hook. It was on the left bottom trailer. The big main trailer was a 3.8and the others were the 2.8. I had two with no hooks on top, two on small worm hooks on bottom and on on a 1/2 oz VMC head. But I hung on a large stick in the water the second time and the hook broke off the jig head. I don’t understand that it was not a real heavy wire but it wasn’t a big stick.
In some of the shots there are a few neutral bass just milling around and then 1 fish goes and detonates on the lure
The camera is the go pro underwater?
Surprised that the Z-man TRD Bugz didn't have more float to it. I thought that Elaztech was a lot more buoyant than that?
On that big frog fish, are you using a heavy mono leader or strait braid while fishing the frog in open clearer water? Or maybe something else?
I plan on trying to expand my frog fishing a little this year and was pondering if a leader on my 65lb. braid would be beneficial.
Love the underwater stuff, but it always seems to bring up more ?'s than answers. lol. Thanks guys.
The 7pounder attacking the 3 over the whopper plopper…….. I think this happens at my grass lake. Sometimes in summer walking the frog out of the pads youll get a distinct thud right after a smash.Feels kinda like a jig bite.
If this doesn't get you pumped to go fishing I don't know what will!!
So weird how bass can be so damn smart, but so damn dumb at the same time lmao
Help,😂😂 I'm the wort at using a jig, I just can't get'um on it.😢😢
😅😅😅
