There’s a candy in Australia called “Violet Crumble”. It’s my absolute favorite and i order it on amazon (so expensive) The sponge candy looks similar. I’m going to make it and see if it’s the same. If you’ve just given me a recipe for the Violet Crumble I could just kiss you!
I use similar a recipe (sponge candy) I just go a step further and add a jar of dry roasted peanuts and then you have peanut brittle. That’s of course minus dipping them in chocolate, however that could make it even more extra lol
Yes, Buckeyes are an Ohio thing! I use a toothpick and only dip it into the chocolate about 2/3rds of the way so you can still see some of the peanut butter ball. It looks just like a buckeye and Ohio is the Buckeye State. Alas, we take Buckeyes very seriously! Lol!

My Grandmama always made homemade fudge, divinity (the weather had to be just so), and her homemade chocolate chip and pecan cookies. Also, you're such a good mom to create such fun memories with your kids! I can't wait until mine are older (2 and 11 months) so I can do things like this with them!
Getting caught up ! In Wisconsin we have sponge candy too....my aunt used to make it but it was thicker..I didnt like it because she may have cooked it too long as it almost tasted burnt.

Decorating sugar cookies is an awesome Christmas tradition at my house too! I have a 10 yo daughter but also a 22 yo son who lives on his own and if I don’t call him to tell him when we are decorating the cookies he would be very mad at me!
In the uk we call it cinder toffee (tbh I really thought it was only a UK thing) once its cooled and if you coat it with melted chocolate, it tastes just like a crunchie chocolate bar 😋

As for the peanut butter balls, in Indiana we called them buckeyes, but we only dipped them about 3/4 way in chocolate so they resemble a buckeye. My grandma Millie used to make scotcharoos plus the peanut butter balls for Christmas every year before she died. I always helped her make all the Christmas candy for families & my grandmas friends. That was hilarious when Connor turned on the mixer to high for the flour to fling out. The kids did great on decorating their cookies. Our family loves chocolate pretzels too. Great video as always. Also they use 3 different chocolates to cover it. Milk, dark and my favorite orange chocolate. SO SO SO good. Yours looks quite thin though. I'm used to it being about an inch tall. When I was in high school, one of my friends mom was a nurse and she used to make a HUGE batch of party mix. She included 3 kinds of chex cereal, cheeze its, mixed nuts, bugles and a couple of different kinds of pretzels. Then when it was cooled off, she would add M&Ms. Can you imagine how expensive it was to make all that? She literally made enough to go in one of those large garbage bags and she made so many tins and bags to give away. Obviously she was known as the party mix mom. YUM YUM. As far as the cookies go....I admire how you make sure the kiddos get to participate. These are memories that they will cherish for many years to come. Would you believe that I had never made a cut out cookie until this year? I am 49 years old. That means, I also did not do this activity with my children. Look out grandchildren.....

When I worked at Mr Bulky Treats and Gifts we sold chocolate covered sponge candy. Farm & Fleet sells a not so great version with white or milk chocolate too. Customers would call it fairy food and honeycomb candy also. I’ve made it before and it’s so good homemade!

But the mixture for that is similar to something I make where you mix in puff corn and let that harden ( recipe is on the bag). Loved the blue sugar cookies with silver decor. Opps Conner!

They looked like they had fun doing the cookies....They are called buckeyes if you dip them in the chocolate leaving the peanutbutter showing on the top..usually use a skewer to dip and not a fork or spoon...peanut butter balls if covered in chocolate or pb gems and my aunt made some covered in peanut butter & crushed peanuts and they were called squirrel nuts....My neighbor makes them and rolls them in shredded coconut and chocolate sprinkles and calls them muddy snowballs...yummy!!

Oh my goodness, I dug out my grandmother’s recipe box a few years ago and an original cutout recipe for scotcheroos was in it! Straight off a Rice Krispies box, I’ve been making them ever since. But when I make them next I’m definitely going to try with special K! I can’t wait to try these recipes
Michigan here! We call it 'sea foam' candy on the west side -- Sweetland's Candies makes semi-sweet and dark chocolate varieties. It's one of my dad's favorites, so I make it at home, too. I tend to make it thicker and my interior is also somewhat lighter, but I am guessing that's because I don't use the dark Karo syrup. Everything looked so good -- thinking I'd like to try the citrus cookies!

The sponge candy looks really similar to my base for the caramel corn I make every Christmas. Mine uses brown sugar, but still the addition of the baking soda makes it light and fluffy the pour it over the popcorn/peanut mixture. I was given the recipe years ago by a coworker and its become a must-do for Christmas. I may try your candy recipe next year also it looks so good!
We dip these so that some of the peanut butter mixture is exposed and look like a nut. So we do not completely cover them with chocolate. Enjoyed all your recipes and you did a great job showing how you make them all. Thank you.
Sponge candy might be a midwestern thing. Being from Indiana, I’ve have had a version of the candy. I’ve had it dipped and not dipped in chocolate. Yummy.

Oh my goodness, I dug out my grandmother’s recipe box a few years ago and an original cutout recipe for scotcheroos was in it! Straight off a Rice Krispies box, I’ve been making them ever since. But when I make them next I’m definitely going to try with special K! I can’t wait to try these recipes
Michigan here! We call it 'sea foam' candy on the west side -- Sweetland's Candies makes semi-sweet and dark chocolate varieties. It's one of my dad's favorites, so I make it at home, too. I tend to make it thicker and my interior is also somewhat lighter, but I am guessing that's because I don't use the dark Karo syrup. Everything looked so good -- thinking I'd like to try the citrus cookies!
I live in Buffalo NY and Sponge Candy is a local favorite. We can buy it from local,candy makers. But I've never made it myself. I can't wait to try your recipe!

I'm from the UK and the sponge candy is similar to honeycomb eg Crunchie bars, everything looks lovely 🤗
The sponge candy looks really similar to my base for the caramel corn I make every Christmas. Mine uses brown sugar, but still the addition of the baking soda makes it light and fluffy the pour it over the popcorn/peanut mixture. I was given the recipe years ago by a coworker and its become a must-do for Christmas. I may try your candy recipe next year also it looks so good!
We make buckeyes here in Pa. Google says they are named buckeyes because they look like the nut from the Buckeye trees in the state of Ohio.
We dip these so that some of the peanut butter mixture is exposed and look like a nut. So we do not completely cover them with chocolate. Enjoyed all your recipes and you did a great job showing how you make them all. Thank you.
Sponge candy might be a midwestern thing. Being from Indiana, I’ve have had a version of the candy. I’ve had it dipped and not dipped in chocolate. Yummy.
