I’ve been watching this build since the beginning I never noticed it’s been five years….. I’m more committed to Mikes Tacoma than I’ve been to any relationship I’ve had 😂
Nice! You got me into Tacoma’s when you started putting out videos on yours and finally just got my ‘19 TRD off-road! Couldn’t be happier! Truck looks awesome mike
I found you shortly after I bought my 2016 Tacoma in August/September of that year. Although I’ve moved on to another vehicle, I always get nostalgic watching you take yours on trails or do upgrades. I’m positive I’m going back to Toyota for my next vehicle, glad to see guys like Tuan are there to kit it out properly.
Watching these videos in hopes I will someday get a 5th Gen 4Runner to mod. Had to sell my 3rd Gen 4 runner during Covid sadly. My buddy has a 16 taco and recommended your channel. Love the content!
Dang I was holding out for bamf to make a recessed grille with a spot for the tss sensor, and after emailing them they said it was something they were eventually gonna do, but instead they just stop making the best looking grille for 3rd gens. Awesome vid as always glad to see some yota coverage happening
@@jayling8086 thanks for the suggestion I just never really liked the flush mount look or the show truck look their grilles have. Nobody makes/made a good recessed grille except bamf.
Still one of the best out there Mike! Happy with my 2018 TRD-OR, keeping mine pretty modest and will wait out the next generation seeing how much I like the new Tundra. Might need to get mine down to R4T for a few odds and ends tho.
How well did you like the fox? I have 2014 tundra. Looking at the fox dcs . Looking ats BDS UCSs or SPC. Not sure which yet. Not sure what the rear needs yet. I do want to keep factory rake.
Nice man. That body mount chop he did looks sick. The welds on it... Top notch. Between you, Talon, and Twon, I'm dizzy w all the shit I want to do to my truck. Just upgraded to a 19 pro (don't judge, it was what I could get. It's surprising how hard it is to find tacos in this market...) and have so much I'm thinking abt, I have no idea where to start. Probably going to be wheels, tires, gears, and a tune.
@@LastLineOfDefense Roger that. Took it out last weekend to play in some sand, and was pleasantly surprised. Messed w CC a bit, but want to bury it at least once and see what it can do. Running over felled trees was a helluva lot more fun than I thought it would be too, lol. Anyway, good stuff man. Thanks for letting us live vicariously. Stay safe!
Tad Chadwick • 43 minutes ago I have a 2020 TRD PRO and want to do the same lift and tires you've done. Stupid question, what is the height of your door sill from the ground after the tires and lift?
Tell Tuan California is full of mountains! That little range called the Sierra Nevada has some good ones, not to meantion the largest trees by far on earth.
@@LastLineOfDefense Haha, well CA still does have 15% of the 14ers in the nation (but not to many of us are spending much time way up there). And 7,971 named mountains to CO’s 3,422 (thanks google). So once you cross the beaches, there’s quite a bit above sea level after that. But I just thought it was funny Tuan put California and Florida next to each other, talking about states without mountains, haha. Maybe Nebraska.
Regarding the front camera, I bought a kit from them and for some reason when I have the front camera activated and hit reverse, the camera does not revert to the rear facing camera and continues to show the front. My Tacoma is a manual transmission though so I wonder if that has anything to do with that.
Hey man love the video, I have a 2022 TRD off-road on order and a FTM-400XDR I want to install in it, any tips on how to do a clean install? I really like the location or your head unit but you mentioned reworking some of it in the vid.
Currently own a 2019 4x4 off-road What is your rpm with 5:29 gears at 70 mph ? Recently looking for gears but I reside on flat land and do mild towing I thought 4:30 is a better option I am looking for advice
I need the tail gate remote lock. Do I have to get the "Pop-Lock" kit first and add the new actuator in this video, or is this new lock-upgrade a stand alone kit? My name is Mel (2018 trd). I think I just noticed that its an actuator only. Is pop lock still the best kit to buy today?
Toyota has a factory option for the tailgate lock. Nice and quiet and factory fir and finish. Took 20 minutes to install and about an hour to clean up the wiring to the cab.
I'm glad you made this video! I'm still undecided between the new Ranger an a 3rd gen Tacoma, this video is making me lean a little more towards the Tacoma because of the aftermarket support.
I like Fords, and think the engine/drivetrain is superior in the Ford (at least for the short-term). Having said that, the payload and towing is close enough as to not be a deciding factor.
Have you driven both, I hear the seats and seating position more comfortable in the ranger. What makes it hard is both are due for a refresh in a couple years
@@SasukeUchiha-zu6dw no not yet. I have a coworker that is getting a ranger this weekend, and im going to take it for a spin and see how i like it, and maybe test drive a tacoma. really the only thing thats holding me back from the tacoma is how "outdated" the powertrain is, i love everything else about it.
The 4th gen Tacoma with new body style is coming. You should get ready to upgrade on that platform. Any rear disc brake upgrade for your 3rd Gen Tacoma?
Eh maybe, but prob not. Having big beefy front brakes (where 75% or so of the braking force happens) is where I'll focus first anyway. I haven't felt a good rear disc conversion that has as solid of an ebrake feel as stock.
Yeah, all my stuff is super dialed - I'm not one of those guys to do EDC vids for the sake of new EDC vids for views. Having said that - I do have a new EDC video in the works, but not a whole lot has changed from this - th-cam.com/video/MrtEIkp5K_0/w-d-xo.html
Pros - reliability, massive aftermarket support and user-base, and basically everything else. Cons - pretty crappy transmission / shifting when driving highway at steeper grades.
