My suggestion is light finish on the neck and let the owner relic it more through play. I'd also roll the edges of the fingerboard to give it that played in feel.
Very clean soldering work Patrick. I also like the push back wire. There is common belief that twisting the pickup leads together and also the output jack wires. This is supposed to reduce 60 cycle hum. The neck, since you asked. I like oiled necks. So I would take all the finish off the back and oil it. But authenticity wise the cowboy chord area gets most of the wear on most of the guitars I work on. Especially where the thumb rides.
A light relic on this will look amazing. Absolutely love relic jobs myself and it gives a great feel to the guitar. Make sure you roll the edges of the fretboard and I like to put some wear around the headstock area where it would hang on a stand too. Just start it off lightly all over and the owner can take it from there.
I've seen alot of different shades of fiesta red. Yours is the shade I will use without doubt... just beautiful! Maybe a hint of vintage laquer on the neck only. Great job.
I need to wire mine up but have tied myself in knots with reference to the middle pickup and RWRP. Should it be wired backwards, upside down or what? 🤣
Don't go for a Custon Shop type neck relic, it's so unrealistic. Ambered laquer with a flat finish with a few nicks and dings looks the most authentic. Then stick it and the body in a chest freezer after doing a few more nicks and dings to progagate some subtle checking. Happy Days!!
I still struggle with the 5 way switch....i get confused by the jumper wire to link tone and volume sides....the switches i have are pre linked internally....i think....if anyone can give me a pointer it would be very gratefully received!
Lightly oiled neck Pat the owner can relic it himself I don't mind natural wear and tear most of my older instruments carry battle scars from dodgy capo's and dings where they slid and caught a cymbal before you could grab them etc but they're honest wounds .... really enjoying this build Zematis next ??🤞🤣
Play Authentic. Lol. I agree. It’s a strange idea really. I watched my last episode of Crimson Guitars and unsubscribed when he ruined a nice PRS in the name of relicing.
Don't relic. Reliceing is a poser's view of a guitar that has been well used, but hasn't been. Don't do it - it's all false!! Leave it with a nice finish, use it and it will take on a used appearance.
A nice amber vintage tint and as thin a lacquer as you can get away with - so that the owner will naturally relic it in time. Great work, as always!

Having worked as a music teacher in a high school. I always say if you want a relic guitar, lend it to a 13 year old boy. For a month
Light amber lacquer ,gloss on the headstock and body joint , matte on the playing area (blended to gloss) roll the edges and play away!

Aww man, too many choices, now I've got a headache. Cheers.

Let whoever plays the guitar relic it through use. It’s way too pretty to bang it up! You have done an outstanding job on it, it’s too nice! Thanxz
Excellent work! CONGRATS! - What type of soldering wire do you use ? What brand or type is best ?

No clear coat?
Do the “halfway house” relic on the neck.
A satin matt finish on the neck, everytime for me

Im with the relic it by playing it daily group! Not into relicing at all!! You did ask!!!!
Okay, this might not make any sense but I think the neck needs to be softer. Everything on it looks to sharp and new.
a very light nitro no relic on the neck
Option A
I agree don't relic it play it and allow the relic to happen it's self over years.

not a big fan of artificial relicing, however, the relicing on the neck should not exceed the relicing on the body and vis-versa.
Anti relic I'm afraid
Don’t like relic, myself I do it naturally, Paul Reed Smith refuses to relic any of his line…
PRS also claims that tuners material take out some midrange. Paul sells woods, not guitars
Please don’t relic it! Everyone relics guitars and it’s boring
Reliced guitars are for posuers!!

If done well I think it’s cool.
Agreed. It looks like he’s used nitro paint so it’ll relic itself nicely with time
