    Just wanted to say thanks and that this is Brilliant! It does away with the guess work about mat placement when my 12x12 paper has odd shapes already cut out. I just put the paper on the mat and find the numbers for the available space. Then I can plug that into Design Space on your template. I'm very happy as it just worked perfectly. Now I can use every scrap of my papers - well almost.

    This is a problem I’ve been trying to figure out with my Cricut Maker I got this past Christmas 2019. I have the latest updated software and new design space. I went to the address you have linked below but it no longer works. Any suggestions on where to get the image of the Cricut grid mat? Thanks for all the work you put into both Cricut and Silhouette. • @cleversomeday
      @cleversomeday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ellyonartgaming Assuming its not working on score because you are using a Maker, you can edit tools from Scoring wheel to scoring stylus so it can pass the tool check empty. Cut is also fine, too. That's why the mark is tiny.

  • @stevegodun
    @stevegodun ปีที่แล้ว

    I just tried this with Design Space 7.20.88 and Maker 3 and it isn't working. My project has a CUT layer and and an ENGRAVE layer; it's intended to go on acrylic so precision is mandatory. The CUT layer is basically a rectangle with eight circles inside, and the ENGRAVE layer is words that are near each circle. I already have the objects on the ENGRAVE layer attached so they stay in position relative to each other. If I follow your steps then the whole project goes to ENGRAVE which isn't what I need, and it moves to the upper-left corner when I go to make it. If I omit the SELECT ALL-ATTACH step then my CUT and ENGRAVE stay separate, but again it moves to the upper-left corner. Any ideas?

    • @cleversomeday
      @cleversomeday  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can change the operation on a layer within an attached set, but here is what I recommend for engraving now. th-cam.com/video/Bi8DhrmgVcw/w-d-xo.html Be sure to read the video description because the steps for keeping the mat loaded have changed.

    • @stevegodun
      @stevegodun ปีที่แล้ว

      @CleverSomeday Thanks for the info; it was informative. My project, however, doesn't fully work like yours. I'm starting with an 8x10 acrylic sheet that I'm cutting shapes out of, then engraving the cut shapes. Am I correct in understanding that the "correct" process would be to first cut my shape from acrylic, then cut a jig from card stock, then re-mount my acrylic in the new jig and engrave from there? It just seems like there should be a way to cut and engrave my acrylic all in one go, swapping tools as necessary. Or am I expecting too much from Cricut?

    • @cleversomeday
      @cleversomeday  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevegodun The Cricut can not cut acrylic so there's that. If you were going to use a material that could be cut with the Cricut, such as craft plastic, you would want to engrave first, then cut. That is the order Cricut goes in already so no additional hacks would be necessary except to choose a material setting that allows use of the necessary tools. Please do not hesitate to contact me via cleversomeday.com/contact so I can help you with the workflow you need.
