    You are so inspirational Mr tie-dye! This can be for Halloween but it could also be made for everyday! I love the Moon and I think I'll make this for my youngest great-nephew! I'm going to make a very light Blue Moon with some gray spots for the craters. I'm going to add some yellow, blue and red stars on the rest of the shirt! I don't know yet if they have glow-in-the-dark colored dyes but if they do, I'm going to use them! Thank you once again Mr tie-dye, you're the best!💙

    Love all your videos. Ive done this for a couple years using regular hobby lobby dyes and am only now upping the game to using the procion dyes, and I was wondering if mixing them with soda ash water is helpful like it is with the other kinds of dye? Thanks for all your videos, I cant stop watching them!

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and yes you will love the new dyes ..... as for soda ash, I prefer to do a pre soak in soda ash... if you add it to the dyes, then they need to be used the same day as the soda ash activates them as soon as they are mixed with water and soda ash .... BUT, if you just mix the dyes with water, then they can be saved for future projects... I have mine around for 2-3 weeks and if you have a fridge, then they will last even longer

    Hi! I was wondering if you could do this on just the front of a shirt by separating the front and the back when folding. Also, if i were to position it straight up and down instead of at an angle could I just fold it in half normally like with a heart or other symmetrical object? Thank you!!

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes you can.... I would draw the fold line across the tee, line your moon shape up and draw it on and then pick up just the front of the tee at your fold line and then yes accordion fold like you would a heart... have fun!!

    hello sir
    i have question
    whether urea or soda ash needed in dye mixing?

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no they are not .... I will address them separately though so you understand them both .... .... Soda ash (also called Sodium Carbonate) is used to activate the Procion dyes.... it can be mixed in with the dyes (some of the store bought kits have it in them) but it will activate the dyes as soon as you add water to them and then they will need to be used that same day..... SO, I will soak my tee shirts in soda ash and spin them out so they are damp and then I fold, tie and dye them ....
      AS for Urea... it can be added to the dyes and will help mix larger amounts of the powder into the water, it also is a wetting agent, so it will help keep your tees damp while you batch them ..... I use it myself, but I did not for the first 8 years of dyeing .... here is my soda ash video just in case you need it .... th-cam.com/video/vD1MSB0sAY8/w-d-xo.html

    Why do you use string instead of rubber bands? Just asking☺

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find I have better control over how tight I tie things... so in some places I can pull the kite string very tight and others I can do it just tight enough to hold and I find it is easier to work with, once I practiced ...... BUT, that is not to say rubber bands are bad, I used them for 14 years before Zach and Jeremy showed me how to use the kite string
