@@markusvillarreal8271 - I had a claim with MaxCare for my Ford F-150 Raptor back in 03/2017. I had to have 2 tie-rods replaced a leak with the torque converter seal that required the transmission to be dropped to replace the seal. MaxCare sent a claim adjuster and they denied the warranty based on "oversized" tires. The Raptor comes stock from the factory with 35" tires (315/70-R17) and I had 35" 12.5-R17's at the time. Both are 35" tires... and the warranty states you can have tires 2" bigger or smaller.
MaxCare wanted me to jump through all kinds of hoops like having a Ford dealership call them and state the Raptor comes with 35" tires and there were a couple of other stupid claims they asked but I have long since forgotten them. So I paid for the repair myself. I ended up filing an arbitration claim with AAA (American Arbitration Association). I sent my demand for arbitration to MaxCare's registered agent via certified mail and within a week a lady from Consumers Program Administrators (company behind MaxCare) called apologizing for the error and wanted to quickly resolve my arbitration claim. After a few phone calls MaxCare covered my repair, rental car and I also demanded another $75 to cover my time/costs for the certified mail to them and AAA.
I had no other claims and overall I would probably not count on MaxCare in the future. If you are in a arbitration friendly state like CA you would have a better chance of having your warranty covered. Just be prepared to cover the cost on your own and take the time to fight for your claim.

@@markusvillarreal8271 It can be worth it, it covers almost all mechanical/electrical issues outside obvious wear items. I bought a 2009 Lexus LS 460 from them in 2020 and got Maxcare for ~ 1600 bucks over 4 years/60k miles. In that time, I've gotten the mark levinsin subwoofer replaced (1k+ job) and several control arms replaced (7k quote from the dealer) done for just the deductible costs. I picked the highest deductible plan, so I spent about $2,100 for $8,000 worth of work.

It doesn't even have to be a crazy unreliable car. With mechanic prices the way they are these days, even ONE repair can cover the warranty. I paid $2300 for my CarMax warranty on a low mileage, one owner FJ Cruiser. I needed lower control arms replaced due to worn bushings and that repair was almost $2500. After the deductible, I'm pretty much even with the warranty on the first repair. Still a LOT of miles to go.

I've got one of those MaxCare stories! I bought my wife a 2016 Nissan Rogue SV AWD from CarMax in 2018. I bought the MaxCare warranty on it for $2200. Four years into the 5 year/125,000 MaxCare warranty, the ole reliable Nissan CVT blew out. $300 out of pocket to replace a $6500 CVT transmission for an AWD Nissan. A couple months later, I get an AirBag warning light. Take it to the Nissan dealership, and again, $300 for a $4000 driver's seat back (yeah, that's freaking ridiculous). Now, the car is out of warranty and I'm scared to death it's going to die on me BUT I think I did well considering since I paid $2200 for the warranty and used over $10K in repairs on it. That's the ONLY time a warranty has paid off for me but it was certainly well worth it!

I bought a 2016 Jagaur XJ from Carmax, specifically becasue of Doug and the Carmax warranty. I bough the 5 years / 125,000 mile coverage, so essentially 85,000 mile warranty based on the car's original mileage. I paid $4800 for the Carmax warranty, and so far Carmax-covered repairs have totaled $15,500 in less than two years. When Carmax techs can't fix the problem, they send it to the local Jaguar dealer and cover all costs. Still an amazing deal, and there is NO way I'd own an 8-year old Jag without it. Thanks Doug!

I paid $26k and $3,250 for a "as long as you own the vehicle" unlimited mileage warranty from Mopar. So far, they've paid out well over $30k for repairs (two years ago they put a new engine in). @@goofyleo3869 I got my 2018 F-type from CarMax and so far have done over $3500 worth of repairs to it under their warranty at zero cost to me. A lot of those fixes I would have just ignored if I didn't have MaxCare, but because I do have it, I took advantage of it wherever possible. Here are some things that they've covered for me:
      1. Replaced all weather stripping along both windows/doors
      2. Replaced the alternator cooling pipes
      3. Got me a new engine cowl (the plastic cover that has the Jaguar logo on it, it was cracked and missing some clips)
      4. Extensive A/C repair when it was blowing only damp, hot air
      5. Replaced cabin air filter
      6. Replaced the turn signal (albeit with a slightly different colored one)
Now you could argue that this all should not cost $3500 but it's a Jag, so you pay Jag prices on repairs. CarMax sent me to the dealer for all of these fixes, so it was all done at the dealer at absolutely no cost to me.
Totally worth the $5,000 I paid for the MaxCare, and I still have it for another 50k miles. If the coolant pipes start leaking (which as I have heard, they almost always do on these cars), then it's paid for itself in less than a year. If you're getting a BMW / Merc / Jag, there's basically no reason to NOT go with CarMax if they have one you want. CPO's at dealers can never beat the coverage CarMax gives you

I remember these videos! My son in college drives my old 2009 L322 Range Rover with the great Jaguar 4.2L Supercharged V8 and that car has been reliable. It gets various CELs and TPMS errors but they get reset and go away for months. It now has almost 180K and the engine and transmission mission are still solid. It’s got a nice not too loud but still audible supercharger pulley whine!

I purchased a toyota extended bumper to bumper on a 2021 4runner. Everyone laughed at me when i got it. I got it on month 35, giving me another 8 years 80k miles warranty. Two months into the extended, my roof started leaking water from rain. First, they replaced the rubber. That didn't fix it. They then replaced the catch tray, rubber sealing( again). That didn't fix it. Toyota just wound up replacing everything. Including the glass. Warranty cost me $2100. Had I listened to the its a toyota l, it'll never break club it would have cost close 3k out of pocket. For one repair

I love MaxCare. I bought a 08 F150 back in 2015 with 100k miles on it and paid $3100 in extended warranty. Over the course of 5 years I only had two major failures if you could say. The trans was never serviced and was having a mild issue. The shop fought maxcare for 3 days and was allowed to do a full rebuild. Costed $3400 and I paid $200 out of pocket. Then two months before the warranty expired the intake manifold sprung a leak. That was a $1k job and I paid $200 for that one. So $4400 and I paid $400. Saving a net of almost $1k in the end, but with $4k worth of repairs. Totally worth it from them. Don’t know how it is today but great back then.

Best warranty that I've had was on a "fixed" VW Jetta TDI. Got it with about 40k miles, warranty up to 120k miles. Paid around $12k for it. Got close to $3500 in warranty repairs (New DPF and some other work.)

I work for a company that handles max care warranties. Coverage is MUCH different nowadays. They will adjust coverage amounts on parts to a aftermarket one from Advance if there is a option. Labor time covered is straight from Mitchell or Alldata. Most dealerships will not use A/M parts, so most of the time the customer is paying more out of pocket than just their deductible. As for high payouts, largest one I have personally handled was 48 grand, a 2016 M5 engine replacement.

I bought my 2011 W204 C63 AMG with the P31 Dev pack from Carmax... with the warranty due to Doug. Then a few years down the road a dealer ultimately bought it back from me, so I cancelled the warranty and got like 60% of it back even after using it once.
