One thing I love to do of late is listen out for the JAL44 London to Tokyo flight that passes over my home in the Scottish Highlands at around 730 every evening. It used to fly east from London over Ukraine and Russia and on down to Japan, but since the war, it now heads north over Scotland, Iceland, Greenland and over the pole. As it goes over, I select it on my flight tracker, check on its progress around bedtime (it's usually over Greenland by then) and then again in the morning. By this time, it is northeast of Hokkaido and about 3 hours from Tokyo. At around 1030, I can switch the flight tracker to pilot view and watch it come in over Tokyo Bay and touch down at Haneda International Airport and taxi to the gate. Madness, I know. But it seems to add a scale to the earth that is easy to relate to and helps me see the world in a slightly different way. And it's a lot better than what's on the TV these days.

Hi Will Just a suggestion. You should try Aer Lingus Long haul from Dublin to New York in Business class. I have flown in this route twice and i would love to see your thoughts on it if you could. Thanks. Love all you videos by the way.✈
13:26 If you want a real classic long haul, check out the united flight from SFO to SYD. I remember my travel day as an 11 year old kid from PDX to SFO to SYD. Felt like the longest day of my life! With preboarding and delays on the tarmack due to the unpredictable weather in the bay area, I was sitting in my economy plus seat alongside my family for a little less than 17 hours, we timed it. Check it out one day if you have not already (:
My TIPS for nice TRIPS: Try the Overnight Sleeper Train from Munich to Rome. Its such a nice feeling to wake up in a typical italian landscape and to approach rome. I also tried the Overnight Sleeper Train from Venice to Munich, its also such a nice feeling to wake up in the German Alps! I used to use these trains 2 times, 1 year ago and right now, today (from Venice to Munich). The view approaching Venice is also so beautiful!
Question: Were you actually entering Japan or just transit? I believe currently Japan is still only allowing limited amount of student and business with invitation to enter
Its possible that if these videos are his business, then a letter of invitation from JAL would be sufficient to enter Japan - as I understand the regulations currently in effect Otherwise, he might be classed as transit if he goes straight back again
London to Tokyo via Asia instead of north america?! Thats certainly the best way to travel! You will fly across some top tourist destinations where you can see scenic views in the cabin window such as Ukraine's beautiful and historic Donbas region, the wonderful mountains around Tehran, and the old silk road passes around Afghanistan. If you're lucky, only if youre lucky, you may even make a brief pass along the Taiwan straights and get first hand views of Taiwan and China's latest fighter jets running around your aircraft. Isnt all that exciting?!

Nicely done, as always. Just one small thing for future reference: “O’Hare (never Chicago) International”. Fun trivia factoid: its code is ORD because its original name was Orchard.
I've flown JFK-NRT and it was amazing. The hard product is older but still comfy. The service and food are stellar. You chose well going for the Japanese meal instead of the Western meal. Looking forward to Japan reopening for tourists.

Korean Air is definitely not "underrated" Very mediore. Always has been. But they often have good fares sometime for premium travel with the connection so sometimes it's worth it. But never expect market leading products or service.
@@johniii8147 Nah mate, their service has been the best and consistent in the air for the past 15 years I've been flying with them in their Prestige and Economy classes. Zamn Getting offered with a champagne while waiting? That's the most impressive way to apologize if some delays happened but nothing of sort happened but still give that wonderful accomodations
The reason for that lounge being closed may be just due to not having enough staff to run it and supply food and stuff. Not sure how much of a problem that still is. Unemployment in the US is pretty much back down to normal.

After saving up miles since the beginning of the pandemic, I'm so excited to be flying this HND-JFK on June 11!
Bring on the 2007 Salon!
I’ve just discovered my favourite airline reviewer! Love your videos, your editing, your honesty and your style. Thank you so much for producing these :) safe travels!
I came across your videos by accident as things like this aren't usually my kind of thing. But I have to say I am addicted!
Definitely will be giving JAL a try next time I visit Japan. By the way was that the same airport as used in the classic film Home Alone 😱
Tidy new pair of Tims Will. Great review as usual. Spotted you on NSD's review of SQ 1st Suites a few days ago. Nice that you both gave each other the recognition.
I've recently found your channel. I would just like to thank you for such an enjoyable channel.
At 64 , the only plane I've ever been on is a Cessna around Duxford Airfield. So your reports are very informative and probably the nearest I'll ever get on a commercial airline. Well done, keep 'em coming 👏 👍👍
Thanks so much for watching Linda 😀
9:40 as a Canadian, i am honored to have a loo review done in my country.
Canadians suck
Hi Will
Just a suggestion. You should try Aer Lingus Long haul from Dublin to New York in Business class. I have flown in this route twice and i would love to see your thoughts on it if you could. Thanks. Love all you videos by the way.✈
I don’t know if “full of flavor” is a British expression, but I smile every time I hear it. Good or bad flavor?
Its possible that if these videos are his business, then a letter of invitation from JAL would be sufficient to enter Japan - as I understand the regulations currently in effect
Otherwise, he might be classed as transit if he goes straight back again
that's what I thought. Japan currently is closed off to tourists. Unless he has a business visa....
Imagine still getting blagged off with Covid restrictions in 2022 🤣
From watching his videos it seems like he does not leave the airport in some cases
And who says he entered the country? Maybe he only did the trip and returned to USA after some hours inside the airport
Home alone is the movie
Trek! Your videos never fail to entertain me! Your videos always put me in a good mood! Keep up the good work! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amazing! How cool is it to get the whole cabin to yourself :)
sad actually..stupid covid
@@bclmax still cool though
This channel is my new obsession 😍
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
New viewer here 👋🏻 It would be so helpful if you’d put the (retail) price of of these flights somewhere whether it be flashing on the screen, in the description box or in a tagged comment. Thanks!
JAL one of the best of all classes in the sky, great review mate I love the whole package of JALs First class. Classy, comfy and the service is first class. And the meals presentation is on point. Brilliant 👍 😃 ✈️
Nicely done, as always. Just one small thing for future reference: “O’Hare (never Chicago) International”.
Fun trivia factoid: its code is ORD because its original name was Orchard.
I'm flying through Chicago international in a few months.
@@roadkillgravy5168 I’ll bet your boarding pass says differently.
Bruh it’s the only international airport in Chicago it’s the tiniest detail to point out for no reason whatsoever
JAL is simply one of the most impressive first class indeed! Thank you for a great video!
I've flown JFK-NRT and it was amazing. The hard product is older but still comfy. The service and food are stellar. You chose well going for the Japanese meal instead of the Western meal. Looking forward to Japan reopening for tourists.
Another great review of an outstanding airline company! Nice to have the entire area to yourself!😄
Another great video Will, I run an "all things Japanese" page on FB, would it be ok if I share this video there?
Also did you enter Japan or just transit through?
I've flown business with JAL before but I'm considering ANA the room next time as the new updates suites look very good.
The best airline I've ever flown on!
I thought Japan was still closed. How are you getting in?
Japan airlines is definitely one of my favorite airlines!
Now that Asia is starting open up, you should try other underrated Asian carriers such as Korean Air and Eva
If you're just talking about their First class then I'll agree, but otherwise, they're actually deserving of the 5 star Skytrax rating unlike Lufthansa.
@@antjuan1843 LOL Skytrax is paid for advertising. I've just never found them anything special. Certainly worse carriers but not stand out service.
I agree, Eva would be nice to do a review on. 👍
Zamn
Getting offered with a champagne while waiting? That's the most impressive way to apologize if some delays happened but nothing of sort happened but still give that wonderful accomodations
The reason for that lounge being closed may be just due to not having enough staff to run it and supply food and stuff. Not sure how much of a problem that still is. Unemployment in the US is pretty much back down to normal.
The steam masks are fantastic, and really great to sleep in in winter.
I’ve been lucky enough to take both JAL and ANA to Japan and I’ve never had a bad experience with either.
/Looks like you landed at Narita. Along with the airlines both Narita and Haneda both are great airports
Haneda is so much more convenient
💖I love the Caviar and various premium amenities😊.
What you omitted is what we're all wondering - how much does it cost to sit in a cubicle and eat tiny food for 14 hours?
$10k one-way. He mentioned it way down in the comments
Hmmm...that surely out classes my travel to Japan a few years ago... I went from Michigan , to San Francisco, then Alaska, and finally Japan, had 3 inflight meals along the way, then on to Korea, landing in Seoul ....All provided by the US Gov't...I was in the Air Force.....and surely no choosing your own mattress ...😁😎...Thanks, amazing accommodations and food that you could choose...👍
Is anyone else confused how he is flying there when you can't fly in unless you work there
Surely him flying is his work. He is a travel reviewer.
I haven’t seen a critique of JAL before but like Singapore Airlines their excellent reputation precedes them. Thank you for sharing your 14 hr trip. Stay well. 👍🙏😎
