11:34 Chatter is not exactly correct. Chirurgeon is an old/defunct word for surgeon that more closely resembles the etymological roots of the word (from Greek χειρουργία for "hand+work"). The French word for surgeon is still chirurgien.
Runi's locations seem to be hinting more at the different expansions in wow(ruins - pandaria, temple of earth - cataclysm, valdraken - dragonflight), although two of them are from legion(nighthold and xenedar) and the other two are less obvious but could be vanilla. So I would not take it as a hint for the monk class, but maybe a possible hearthstone expansion?
The future locations are all from a WoW-expansion that was released after TBC (where the caverns of time was introduced) so I don't think you can draw too many conclusions about future hearthstone expansions from it :)
I hope their plan is to do a few more wild expansion sets. iirc, the revamped cards are just thru gadgetzan right? So I hope maybe their plan is to continue updating wild sets maybe up thru until like year of the phoenix or something. Would love to see revamped and new galakrond support, for example.
Can't see 90% of these cards actually being played in wild unless nerfs are made to the meta decks. It's gonna be so sad seeing some dude buy the new xpac having not played wild and just getting into it to just get rolled by a even shaman bot.
Runi's locations are from different expansions. Ruins of Korune are from Pandaria, but there's also one from Cataclysm (Temple of Earth), another from Dragonflight (Valdrakken), two from Legion (Xenedar and Nighthold) and two other places from Classic (Wind rider roost and Lordaeron).
Trial of Jormungars could be good to tutor the new board clear combo in certain decks. Reno and Big Beast Hunter are decks that can trim their small beast pool to just dreadscale+acidmaw, and can benefit from a 1-sided board clear on t5
Oh wow they added flurgle tox to hunter WITH ice fishing and you just have to not play small beasts, so any secret hunter not playing phasestalker can do it, or such.
I like how each of the Mean Streets Gang Leaders got a massive glow up, then Patches just got mutilated and turned into a disgusting joke by the signature art.
The flavor of this expansion when in context of WoW is absolutely incredible. Here's why Chromie's epochs are all dungeons/raids from the Caverns of Time in WoW The locations from the future feature many interesting locations as to where the expansions of HS might go next, like Argus with the Xenedar, or Pandaria, or hell the Dragon Isles with Valdrakken PRIEST CAN KILL 4 ATTACK MINIONS (but as a meme not as being good) The scarab gong was one of the hugest events in wows history Brining back keywords from a ton of past expansions makes total sense To say I'm in love with the flavor would be an understatement. Who knows I may play Twist for this
Wind Rider's Roost is Mulgore and Thunder Bluff which doesn't seem like much of a basis for an expansion given we've already had the Barrens unless it's going to be a capital theme like Stormwind. Xenedar is on Argus which is prime for an expansion given the three zones. The Nighthold is on the Broken Shore which might be a theme in and of itself, probably the battle over Suramar. Outskirts of Lordaeron seems a bit weird given it looks like the original Lorderon and not the Ruins/Undercity, but I could be wrong. Temple of Earth is in Deepholm which could be its own expansion, including probably the Maelstrom. Korune is a Mogu ruin in Kun Lai Summits where the Divine Bell (pictured) was hidden, so probably a pandaren/dominance offensive expansion. Finally Valdrakken is the current major city in Dragonflight so probably a bunch of dragons eventually.
There's some pirate priest in wild, and when that card pulls patches or the 2/2s from hand, they are buffed immediately so definitely not an insta dust
I really love this. Sure the reworks and buffs of old cards are good, but I love that this essentially allows them to support old archetypes and strategies without the imbalances bleeding into standard. We don't need meta stuff, just print wacky sh!t that's actually *fun*
Chirugeon is gonna be busted. Shadow priest already runs pirates and this is a better pirate than Mistake, which it runs. 1/4 voidtouch attendents, 2/3 brigands, 1/2 patches, it’s nutty.
8:25 I'd disagree there. They don't care about the competitive wild. Not wild as a whole. Most players are at lower ranks, especially in wild. I do think these cards are fun at lower ranks, and that's where they're going to get played. Side note: It's virtually impossible to print cards for competitive wild without them being broken and needing nerfs. And why make cards for a sliver of the playerbase that plays competitively in wild.
Invigorate is actually better than old Wild Growth in most situations. Since wild growth hit this gap at 8-9 mana when it's essentially unplayable because the ramp won't do anything and you can't yet draw a card with it. Only situation Wild Growth is better is at ten mana if you really want to cast that extra spell. In Auctioneer decks for example.
Don't know if you figure this out in the video, but this is not an expansion for wild, it's specifically designed for twist (regardless of what they say). They buffed cards like Kabal Crystal Runner which is already played in a top tier wild deck, but will be very mediocre in twist. I'm honestly baffled that they would make an expansion for a format that lasts one month, but that's what they did :/
Considering that they made Contract Conjurer and Objection the buff doesn't surprise me. Someone in Blizzard must really love Secret Mage because why didnt they even nerf it despite it being so overpowered?
@@locogato3488 Yeah... I could understand it if they were trying to push the archetype in other formats, but Secret Mage is garbage in standard and it's still going to be garbage in twist. Meanwhile, a wild deck gets a buff when it's already top tier; I think you're right.
Even for twist its a dumb buff, cause the card would 100% be played in secret mage decks there. They couldve buffed actual bad secrets/Secret synergy, not make best/2nd best card (its runner or kabal lackey) even better. And bonus point, maybe in wild (since this is for twist clearly) the archetype then would have maybe just maybe a bit more variation.
Listening to the State of the Wild podcast, wondering how Rarran thought a 1 mana 1/2 priest minion summon a 2/3 brigand and 1/2 patches in Shadow Priest isnt that big of a deal is insane. Also a location that just casts your good discard shit and draws 2 cards for 2 mana. What?
I feel that they made this for twist and then put some wild things on, so many underpowered cards its insane, but as hunter main ACIDMAW TO 3 BABY LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO
It's like Blizzard WANTS hearthstone to be forgotten and slowly die Why invest so many ressources on a virtually twist only expansion and promote it as wild ? Legit heartbreaking
Mind-boggling. Some of these cards look fun, but you won't live long enough to play them. Secret Mage and Shadow Priest get buffs? Twist only lasts one month, what the heck were they thinking...
What are you talking about in the current standard expansion? If you think it’s ok to put hold in standard when we have nature’s expansion in standard then you are insane. In case you forgot about that card nature’s expansion is a five cost spell with the following effect: choose one gain 2 mana crystals or draw 3 cards. this sucks, I really don't care much about the new Signatures. If I get them, I'm happy but I don't really need to have them. But I NEED Signature Yogg, C'Thun, Aya, Patches... nooo my poor wallet :(
I love the twist update. It’s awesome that they made a whole pack just for twist. If it was for wild then demon hunter and death knight would have new cards because they really need them.
They are all, apart from a couple of cards, really underwhelming. Most of these cards will never see the light of day after twist is over. They won't even get the standard 4 months in the spotlight like normal cards. It just seems like they were made to add more monetization to wild, through twist and the signatures. And I would be OK with that, if the cards had any value outside of twist but they don't. What a waste of a good idea.
I love how in Shadow Word: Forbid, the art is destroying a Chillwind Yeti, the definitive 4 attack minion
