    4000 rounds-per-minute does not equate to 4000 revolutions-per-minute of the barrel assembly. With six barrels, you would get 6 rounds per revolution, so the barrel assembly needs to turn only (4000/6) revs-per-minute, or 666.66 revs-per-minute. Still fast, but not 4000.

    • @watsonstudios
      @watsonstudios 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Uh...What? Try 666 rpm, Not 20.

    • @austindang8389
      @austindang8389 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rounds and revolutions means the same thing when it comes to how fast it spins, they're talking about the rotation of the barrel, what you're talking about is how many rounds the gun can fire each minute.

    • @KalLanPIDT
      @KalLanPIDT 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@austindang8389 r u dumb? there is 6 rounds on one revolution, the barrels does not spin 4000rpm as they said in the video, that would be 24000 rounds per minute. It SHOOTS 4000 rounds per minute while the barrels are spinning at 666rpm

    • @austindang8389
      @austindang8389 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KalLanPIDT For one this was 6 months ago, I don't really care anymore. And second you should learn how to read when it comes to context. As I clearly stated "Rounds and revolutions means the same thing when it comes to how fast it spins" 4000 rpm translates to 4000 rounds per minute buddy. It depends on what you are talking about and I clearly stated what my point was. 4000 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION PER MINUTE is different from ROUNDS PER MINUTE counting revolutions. But when it comes to revolutions compared to rounds per minute when we talk about spin, it's the same.

    • @austindang8389
      @austindang8389 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KalLanPIDT And for the record, the rate of which the barrel spins (rpm) would be the same as the rate of fire (rounds fired per minute). One revolution would be one round travel made by one specific barrel, and everytime that barrel makes one revolution, one round is fired.

    I worked with a GE Rep from Burlington, VT on the 20mm version called the Vulcan. He spoke of setting the world record rounds per minute rate of fire with the mini gun, and the only way they could increase the rate of fire beyond a certain point was to shorten the barrels so that a round cleared the muzzle before that barrel came around and fired again. Real cool stuff to talk and think about. FYI the 20mm fires electrically, when rotated to a certain point the circuit is closed and bang...or should I say boom. In full on firing mode what a hellacious growl.

      IIRC it was first used in vietnam by gun crews operating C-47 transports that had been redesigned to offer close fire support! They had three of them mounted in the side and had to be flown at a bank in order to bring the guns to bear! It was actually designed as a downsized version of the M61 20mm commonly found on jets and AA vehicles, and was meant to replace single barreled machine guns!

    You can run it with a modified Dayton brand motor which costs a few hundred bucks and needs about $500 worth of labor to mod it. Same base gun was used in Predator but it had a motor similar to this video but for some reason they swapped it for Terminator2

      @jamesdrakcip9276 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The delinker works like a mini minigun. See how it also has a helical cam track. The cartridges are pushed through the links like a single-bolt machinegun, except there's 7 small bolts running in the track. The cartridges are pushed into a rotor (visible) which moves them to the feed guide plate.

They where made by General Dynamic. 05606. That motor is the slowest motor made, made for the cobra gunship, hence the drum drive on the back and the beat up rewire job. Put an early G.E. Motor on it and get 6500 rpm. Gun has been tested up to 7200rpm. Last thing.... that guns designation is Gau-2b/a, it is not an M134. To bad the housing was a bad reweld, you could actually see the hole cam path was ground on to fix it.....
