Enjoyed your video and glad you had a lovely time in Paris. I was taught that you can sum up French Style in 3 words - Accessories, Accessories, Accessories. Put your money into footwear, bags, jewelry, ( including faux pearls) and of course scarves. I find the amount that a French woman will pay for a lovely scarf eyewatering - but it upgrades any outfit and can be worn with many things.
Very true! one the first pricey accessories we, French women, love to buy is a Hermès scarf; And boy! at what price!! I have two, they are 35 years old and my daughter (29) is already eyeing them...they are so iconic that any one can recognize them : timeless!
🌹Whenever I travel to Paris I love to share with my friends "I'm packing my 3 favorite Paris colors: black, black and black!" As long as you wear neutrals you will look French enough to feel part of Paris. And no matter what age you are, experiencing the admiring eyes of French men is heartwarming. French men adore well groomed mature women, it's part of their culture. It's gotten so expensive to stay in Paris, try nearby quaint Versailles village. (It will feel friendlier too) 🌹 Love your channel Beth, Vive la France!❤️❤️
You're so right, being well groomed is just part of their culture. My husband grew up in Vienna and always looked fantastic! It's safe to say both men and women take great pride in their appearance in Europe. Thanks for stopping by today!
❤️Beth, wanted to add that people in France consider it a matter of cultural respect to dress in the "French uniform": neutral colors, and a well tailored look. (Add a bright pop of color with a silk scarf and you will look French and feel French). There's no way around this unfortunately, you will be treated a lot more warmly and feel the true welcome of the French in ways you cannot imagine.
My father’s grandfather was a Frenchman, so yes, I am a Francophile to the bone (even though I’m a Texan above all!) That great grandfather left France with a man named Henri Castro and several other people, bound for Galveston, Texas and on to an area close to San Antonio, establishing the small town of Castroville, Texas (still in existence) in the mid-1800’s. Jean Baptiste Merion became an American citizen but always longed for his home country of France. As they say “I love Paris every moment, every moment of the year!” Looks like you had a wonderful trip and I’m taking some of your ideas with me on my next trip! You looked beautiful as always! Thanks for the great tour! ❤
Loved this, I just discovered your videos. I took a cooking class when I went to Paris, still make some of the dishes. I love to cook. I’ve watched 10 videos since Sunday. Inspired me to clean my closet and dress up again. Since retiring my blazers were in the back of my closet. Going to meet my good friend for lunch at a French restaurant Thursday. We will be Tres Chic.
Loved hearing about your trip to Paris. I just returned two weeks ago from three weeks in France. I went with an art class. We were in the country, Loire Valley one week, Giverny, then Brittany for one week. And Paris the rest of the time. I have been to Paris a few times and have loved it. It certainly is the most beautiful city in the world. I love sitting in a cafe and watching the people go by. My only complaint was that we went in early June and the crowds in Paris were unbelieveable. I agree that early spring or fall are the best time to visit Paris. And yes, I am obsessed with French Girl ( Girl is pushing it a bit) Chic. And it is easy to say that I am also obessed with your style and your channel. I absoultely love it. I am slowly changing over my wardrobe. I am well over 50 years of age. But I don't feel it at all. Thank you so much for such a wonderful, fun and informative channel. Love, love, love it!!! watch it every night.
YES!!!!! I truly am obsessed with French girl chic. It's my absolute favorite "look" of all-time; the neutrals, the sleek clean lines, the special details.......... Thanks for sharing about your Paris trip with Kelly. Beautiful pictures! I could tell that you both had a wonderful time in Paris!
Loved this video. Brought back the memories of the time we were in Paris. I think just being there rubs of on a person. It felt so comfortable be around the Paris atmosphere. It’s a place where you can just be yourself. Thank you for all the style tips. I’m only 5’ tall so I was so happy when you brought your daughter in law on board.
Yes, I love everything French-the fashion, food, wine, etc.! Your video was lovely to watch, and I can tell that you were enjoying your time in Paris. Thanks for sharing the experience! 💝🙋♀️
Do you speak any French? I actually just received a book “Paris Street Style” from my friend today before your video popped up! I think it’s a sign that I need to go to Paris! 😎
I am French and appalled by my fellow countrymen; their English is really poor! so be prepared to meet lots of people who can barely understand you. It might be less true in Paris than the rest of France but honestly it's a shame; virtually all the countries in Europe master English better than we do! That said, Paris is an exceptional city for those who appreciate history...and fashion!
It reminds me of my time in Paris with my mom. We rented an apt for a month. We got to see so many of the things you mentioned here. We also took a short trip to Venice while we were there. Those are memories I cherish. We were unable to see Versailles as well. The Metro was on strike and we couldn’t get there. Thanks for sharing your time there. 🥰
That sounds like a lovely trip! What memories you created with your mom! I would love to spend an entire month in Paris. It's such an easy city to navigate.
it is funny how times change… when we visited my daughter studying in Paris about 10 years ago, you could spot an “American tourist” by who was wearing athletic shoes with blue jeans (a chic no no). Ironically, the style has turned to wearing “trainers”…even for the Parisian chic! Love your glimpses into your fun visit. Would love to return one day!😎
I’ll be going to France in May. Instead of Versailles, I plan on going to Vaux le Vicomte, a chateau that inspired Versailles. You can take a train there on your own, with a shuttle bus to the chateau, or take a tour from Paris. I liked the idea of deciding how long I would spend at the chateau. You might want to consider this for your next trip to France.
Thanks for sharing. My mother must have unknowingly taught me about the French style because It looks like I have the French style down already! By the way, I love the sweater you are wearing in this video. It looks great on you.
Perfect timing, Beth! I just finished reading “Living forever Chic” by Tish Jett. Thank you for sharing your trip & enabling us to see French chic “in person.” Great timing as well as we are thinking spring wardrobe refresh. Love love love the bag you were carrying in the videos in the end. May I ask what bag it is?
I am French and for me, French girls are slimmer than most Americans. Lifestyle…they are family oriented, fun loving and walk to work. Of course they do drink wine even at lunchtime. I have never had a weight problem because I don’t let myself be…fried foods and baked goods are not on my menu. When my clothes start to feel a bit tight, I pause to check my activities and diet. I am an active Senior and have maintained my weight for 20 years! Real beauty comes from the heart and not clothes!
Looks like you had a lovely time! I agree that fall is best to go to Europe-not so hot as summer, so more comfortable to walk around. I went to Florence last mid-October, and it was unusually busy with tourists, very crowded, mainly with Americans-but that was unusual for the time of year. I do love French style, but being of Italian heritage, my heart belongs to Italian chic. They also build on classics, but with less restraint when it comes to bling and colour, however, never OTT. I think Latins just like a little more drama!😂(except the Milanese, I always think Prada seems more French than Italian).
Planning a trip to France this October. I am so looking forward to it. Did you book things on your own or with a tourist company? Have you ever been on the river cruises?
Great video, so informative and helpful! I was a bit distracted by your beautiful sweater. Please share where you found it, if possible. Thank you Beth!

Bonjour, Beth, First, I liked the idea of participating at La Foodist for morning market and 3 course meals, merci. Second, Beth, Montmartre😊 for artists socialised there in cafes, and as you mentioned the Basilica. I am searching for suitable accommodation near La Foodist and Montmartre, could you perhaps recommend one. Sincerely Joy
It all looks very much like a simple fashion city. Personally, I prefer Italy especially Milano as the people are much friendlier. Just my personal opinion. Since I was born and raised in Europe, I may have a different opinion.
I brought a small black cross body bag on and someone was able to take my wallet without me even knowing. I was stranded in Paris without money or a train ticket. Obviously, I got home. Will never go back. So many other beautiful cities. I have traveled everywhere including the Middle East for business but Paris was by far the worst for the thieves
I LOVE french fashion, but YSL and other french designer bags are not affordable for a common dutch women like me. I think you show very expensive clothing and jewelry 😢. But I stil like to watch your video's Beth

I just watched a video of young French people discussing their favorite styles. The winner “American School/Preppy”. It’s my favorite, too.

I LOVE Italy and the dolce vita! But I think Paris and/or France gets a bad rap. I've always found the people to be lovely.
I find the regions of France more enjoyable, esp. if you speak the language. Paris is overrun with tourists, so perhaps they get sick of us!

One important thing for French women to take care of their skin is not to expose to sun.
Longchamp has been around for a VERY long time, but not as recognizable as Chanel.
And far cheaper.
Yes, they started in 1948. Just not as recognizable as Dior, Chanel, et all.
