Mrs. Crocombe's great great great great great great grandmother looks and sounds just like her. She should be proud that her lineage is no longer cutting wood but is now a fine cook at a marvelous, extravagant estate.
Nice story. Even nicer to see that the story teller had the same number of fngers at the end of the story that she had when she started the story. Maybe on the next story she''ll use a batton stick as she splits kindling. Respectfully, W.S.
Very inspiring story that despite not having what she wanted the wife stood by her husband's torment and became patient until he was healed by someone who expects nothing in return. The moral of the story is very inspiring maybe we are only looking but not really seeing.
I wonder if we can sneak a picture (manuscript illustration? Victorian Gothic fantasy?) of this impression into Mrs Crocombe's kitchen. Years ago I knew a lady who did Victorian era reenactments and at an event she had been photographed in appropriate clothing using a Victorian camera. The reenactor gave the photo to her mother and a family friend seeing the 'Victorian' photograph hanging on the wall commented to the mother how strange genetics could be that this ancestor of 100+ years ago looks exactly like your daughter. The mother apparently decided not to enlighten the friend.😀
If anyone knows that now by chance two women are using a poultice of wine, onion, garlic, oax bile, and a copper pot to fight Staph, even the Mercer strain, because the new strains are too resistant to the different molds. Then you'll find this even more a true story ever told.
Buttons have been with us a long time. What is odd is someone of her status having/wearing them as they were so expensive even the wealthy had only a few sets they would constantly have detached and re-attached to various items of clothing.

"For this tale you will need..."
16 oz of lard… 3 cups, sugar, 2 cups flour, 3 eggs, 2 tablespoons vanilla, 2 vineyard apples-peeled and diced-, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon…………….
You forgot the armonds.
@@more_beans_mr_taggart4057 I DID! Yes, absolutely… 1/2 cup armonds… lol. Love her.
A TURBOT !
Kathy Hipperson is such a great talent! I adore her most as Mrs Avis Crocombe but she is always excellent in every character she portrays. 👍
Cooking, storytelling, laying a fire..... There is nothing Kathy Hipperson cannot do! 😊❤️
Ahhh!!! Mrs Crocombe's ancient relative...you tell stories amazingly well!!! Thank you!!🤗🙂🇨🇦
Kathy Hipperson is such a talent. English Heritage is truly blessed having her.
When she's not the cook she's the story teller. (Amazing story by the way.)
When she's the cook, she's a story teller too.
What a lovely story! So much fun to listen to these old tales.
A wonderful tale for a winter's afternoon. Thanks for sharing!
She has great story telling skills. It caught my attention right away.
I love this, but I can't help myself. So this is what Mrs. Crocombe does on her off day.
😁
🤣😂🤣
I kept waiting for her to throw shade on the axe, or possibly the wood pile😂
Kathy Hipperson should have a role on The Crown.
She could play the queen
I wish we could hear her stories everyday :) She's such a talent woman :)
I do so enjoy these stories you bring us. Thank you English Heritage and of the wonderful folks who proform them. Thank you Katherine for this one.
Would I like to listen to a story??
Why, yes, I would!
And a delightful one it was!
Why, Miss Crocombe, you are multi-talented.
😂😁
Can she please be put into Julian Fellows Movie? She’s classically trained, obviously, and would be excellent in anything he writes.
she (Ms. Hipperson) is just so great.
another wonderful upload.
We covered apothecatheries, and the quack doctors in a medicine topic.
history is truly amazing
I just love this channel so much, and yes, I'm here for another story. 😁
Did she just say “what you need” 🤣🤣 (4:10)
Thank you Kathy enjoyed that almost as much as I enjoy Mrs Crocombe's cooking videos
A great story! Thank you very much! Already looking forward to another one! My children are already grown, but I have never missed a story 🙂
Thank goodness Kathy ended the story with the same number of fingers as she started. I had my doubts throughout.
I was worried as well!
I love these stories. Actually I love anything English Heritage!
ooh this was just so beautiful !!
Very wise indeed. Love this story.
I looooove those stories and tales! Thank You!!!!!❤🤣🤦♀️❤❤❤🙏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love Kathy no matter what character she plays! Enjoyed this immensely.
Thank you for the story .
Love the subtle change of accent from the South West to the South East. Great story 🤩
Why yes, I have come for another story, you gorgeous & talented woman. 🤩
I love listening to these stories. Best bed time stories as well
I love Kathy so much! 😊
Thank you for the wonderful story
I am off English heritage (my dad is from London area) so i love these videos. Until i can manage to get over there and see the sights. :)
Mrs. Crocombe is literally glowing!!!
She is the BEST!! LOVE. HER!!
Nice story. Even nicer to see that the story teller had the same number of fngers at the end of the story that she had when she started the story. Maybe on the next story she''ll use a batton stick as she splits kindling. Respectfully, W.S.
Dad would have deprived me of the hatchet and grounded me from anything sharper than a butter knife for at least 10 years if he'd seen me do that.
Yup. I was thinking the same thing.
This channel gets better and better with every heart beat I love it 🥰
Thank you so much for the tale ❤️🌺You made my day and saved me from depression ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️God bless you❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌺🌺🌺🌺
Mrs. Crocombe, you are great.
Wonderful story telling
These are lovely, and so well told! Saving this to have the children listen, too!
An enchanting breath of fresh air
I came for a *turbot* but stayed for a story. 🐟
Happy new year Mrs DefinitelyNotAvis! 💛
Good moral to the story
I guess I have to set aside some time to binge-watch these
Delightful !!! I thought I recognised her !!
Haha i really liked this story! I love mrs. crocumbe (i know it’s not her, just whoever plays her)
I am just a huge fan of Kathy♡♡♡♡♡
This does the heart n soul good.
Love, love, loved this one. More please!
Awesome and engrossing narration
It's just a matter if time until Kathy gets cast in period dramas! I'm surprised she wasn't ever cast on Downtown Abbey!
She is every where! Lucky us.
Mrs. Crocombe whacks with that hatchet like the pro that she is. Even when she isn't in her century.
Nailed it.
Very inspiring story that despite not having what she wanted the wife stood by her husband's torment and became patient until he was healed by someone who expects nothing in return. The moral of the story is very inspiring maybe we are only looking but not really seeing.
….🌀This Was Quite Lovely ~ Thanks🌀….
Love you Kathy....!😍
Funny story. Thanks.
Nice story but you were making me a little nervous using that hatchet. 😊❤️
It's 10 p.m. here ... nice bedtime story :D Now I've 6 more to watch ...

Good story.🙂
..WonderfuL moral, HappY New Year!!! ❤️
Plot twist- The rich man later died of tetanus brought on from stepping on the old nail🤭
Nice Story!
This tale is as true now as it was then: simple solutions are not always the most obvious.
Very entertaining
Wonderful 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Love this
I hope there's another Downton Abbey movie - and that you're in it
Good Story' 😇😇
very interesting
m y only complaint is that it ended :( i could listen to that all day
1:23 Thought she was going to chop off her finger there for a minute! Good grief!
Yay!
i wish i could buy 3 new outfits with a pound
❤❤❤
👀 Cast my horoscope?! 😯 Mercury retrograde!
Cool
Took care of the husband *and* the wife! Definitely a wise woman!
If anyone knows that now by chance two women are using a poultice of wine, onion, garlic, oax bile, and a copper pot to fight Staph, even the Mercer strain, because the new strains are too resistant to the different molds. Then you'll find this even more a true story ever told.
For this cure you will need......said the wise woman.
This is kind of cute!!
Mrs. Crocombe sure fell on some hardde tymes
😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Nice Aura 😂👏
Ako lang ba ang pilipino dito?
Marites din tong great geat great grandma ni mrs. Crocombe. 😀
The Wise Woman!? Two things must ye know about the wise woman, my Lord...
That's what I thought too. 😂 (Blackadder reference).
Healthcare's always been expensive I guess
👏👏👏👏👏😊🌹👍
How do you not notice a nail in your foot
Speaking of clothes, why are there buttons on her caplet- It seems a little early for buttons.
Buttons have been with us a long time. What is odd is someone of her status having/wearing them as they were so expensive even the wealthy had only a few sets they would constantly have detached and re-attached to various items of clothing.
700th like!
The moral is - seek the advice of a wise woman.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
