Fun Fact: Benedict Cumberbatch also did the voice and mo-cap for Dormammu.
Stephen Strange was mentioned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as one of the people that the algorithm identified for Project Insight to eliminate, btw.
That made no sense btw
So Zola's algorithm looked at Strange's past a surgeon and predicted he would become the master of the mystic arts some day?
@@abisheknair2523 Idk, maybe they saw his school test scores as a photographic memory super genius and other factors and determined he'd be a threat to HYDRA in some way? They never specified that he'd become a sorcerer, really. Of all the things in this universe to be skeptical about, that seems like a pretty small one.
@@brandonmiracle9810 they never specified he would be sorcerer but how else would he be a threat
If he had never met with the accident, he would've continued as a surgeon.
But I guess, when you can believe a kid developing spider webs in his chemistry class, this ain't that far fetched.
@@abisheknair2523maybe HYDRA thought someday Strange would discover a cure for cancer
@@abisheknair2523 Strange is a world class surgeon. If they try to assassinate an important political figure for example, Strange would have a good chance of being the one to operate on them.
I just love Benedict Cumberbatch in this role! Dr. Strange was seriously humbled in this movie and was an enormous asset to the MCU afterwards.
He plays an awesome character!!!! Loved it! ❤
The director of the movie confirms that Strange spent literally *thousands of years* in the time loop. That's where his experience in the later movies comes from: thousands of years of constant practical training.
Woah thousands of years?!?! This was a cool movie!!
@@tktopmoviesyeah, and that’s gotta give you some experience and ,I presume, a worryingly high pain tolerance, dying so many times can’t go without consequences I guess
As someone who works in surgery, it is common for some to listen to music while they operate
I can't hear "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen without remembering my first colonoscopy.
Fun fact: I know you cut this from the edit, but I just wanted to point out that when Christine screams when the mop falls in the broom closet the first time that she sees Dr. Strange go through a portal was a genuine reaction. That mop was not scripted to fall. Something knocked it over unplanned and
McAdams was so in character and focused that it really startled her, and that was a genuine reaction.
Hi, guys.
Dr Strange's car had an
Auto Body experience, too...
Lol.....
lol!!!! That’s a good one 😂😂
Doctor Stephen Strange first appeared in Strange Tales #110 in July of 1963 by the legendary Steve Ditko. Stephen Strange was one of the best and most prestigious surgeons in the world, despite his arrogance. After a car accident took the use of his hands, he traveled the world to find a cure, eventually meeting the Ancient One. After training and dedication, Stephen became a changed man. Aided by his faithful servant Wong, he has protected the earth from mystical and interdimensional threats, traveled the cosmos and many fantastic dimensions, and been friend and mentor to many of Earth's heroes. Some of his recurring villains include the Elder God Shuma-Gorath, Mephisto, Baron Mordo, Nightmare, and the Dread One Dormmamu.
5:02 Fun Fact The opening segment of this film (all the stuff that happens before the plot thickens) takes place before "Iron Man 2"...in fact, the "35 year old air-force colonel" Billy is talking to Strange about over the car phone, is the soldier that got twisted around backwards in the Iron Man type suit that Justin Hammer was creating...when Hammer says in the hearing "I WOULD like to say, for the record, that THAT colonel survived."
Nope. There is exact date of Strange's car accident thanks to his watch and that does not correspond with year of Iron Man 2.
Does it correspond to civil war though?
@@erikawilliams9558 Apparently, it was actually Rhodey that was mentioned on the phone.
There was a point in the early 1970s when the writing for Dr Strange was taken over for a few years by Steve Engelhart, who was an American Buddhist. The action and storytelling became exception due partly to the infusion of Eastern philosophy. One edition Dr Strange meets the Devil, another he meets God. Incredible work!
After leaving the 'comic' (they were only just starting to be called 'graphic novels' at that point), Engelhart launched a new, independent 'comic' titled "Coyote", which chronicled the origin and life of a modern Native American whose trickster spirit manifests (in southwestern Native mythology, the Coyote is the trickster). I think it only lasted a year, publishing monthly, but it was also quite wonderful.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that with us Chris!!!!
When my brother let me read his Marvel comic collection in the 1970s Dr. Strange was one of my favorite titles. The multi-planar aspect of the comic reflected the psychedelic character of the times and I was happy to see this carried over into the MCU.
the address of the New-York sanctuary was reference for Sherlock Holmes which was played by Benedict
Oooh! We’ve never seen that! Would be cool to check out!!!
@@tktopmovies BBC Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch is truly amazing and one of the most interesting and popular Sherlock adaptations. It’s a take on Sherlock Holmes if he was a detective in modern day London. It’s very smart and so much fun. Highly recommend.
4:52 "Interstellar Overdrive" from the first Pink Floyd album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn".
A fun little tie-in that only big Floyd fans would know:
On the cover art for their 2nd album, "A Saucerful of Secrets", Doctor Strange can be seen, albeit slightly hidden, on the right side of the picture, so you really have to look.
On their next album, "More", a song called "Cymbaline" has a line that goes "Doctor Strange is always changing size".
Oh wow! That is so cool!!!!!! Love that!
Dr. Strange is my favorite MCU movie
Dr. Strange is my favorite MCU character
Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr
Strange is absolutely perfect
He’s awesome!!! ❤
Benedict did amazing job in this movie and actually the entire cast. I love Doctor Strange's character development much like Tony Starks. He starts of arrogant and selfish. Has to learn and develop his skills / powers. The Strange at the end choses to make Dormammu (a godlike powerful entity) his prisoner so everyone else may live....pain is an old friend...sad but so awesome to see his compassion and willingness to sacrifice himself for others. I loved this movie.
An amazing job for sure!! We really enjoyed this one too!!! Thanks for watching with us ❤
The Doctor's cloak reminds me of the magic carpet from Aladdin (the Disney animated movie) semi sentient and very protective
Oh yeah, Chad!!! Absolutely!!!!!
Benedict Cumberbatch was a perfect cast as Doctor Strange. He’s an incredible actor. I recommend you watching BBC Sherlock and the Imitation Game.
One of the biggest rules in Marvel is if you do not see a dead body, they probably are not actually dead. And even if you do see a dead body, sometimes there are possibilities.
We never saw Odin die. We only saw Loki sitting on the throne at the end of the second Thor movie.
I love when strange says "try me beyonce". You can hear wong listening beyonce when strange steals the book.
Fun fact: the colonel with the broken back that was a suggested but dismissed surgery to Doctor Strange while driving his Lambo before crashing it, that was Rhodey after the events of Captain America Civil War
WOAH!!!! Love how that connects! We totally missed that! Thanks for sharing that!!!!😮
Another theory is that its the guy from Iron man 2. We see the accident in the court room where Tony Stark shows Justin Hammer's iron man suit experiment. So "Crushed his lower spine in some kind of experimental armor" might be referring to him.
OR none of the above... Because we have this ... Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was part of a roundtable interview following Doctor Strange's IMAX preview event (where the scene with Strange's accident was shown), and he was asked how much Wiki research we should be doing into the three cases that Strange is pitched. Laughing, Feige replied, "Not much. Not much. They're just bits of fun. Just little fun things"
This can not possibly be true as that part of the movie happened before Civil War.
I do think it's possible that it could be the person who was hurt all the way back in Iron Man 2 working for Justin Hammer, and he's probably still trying to find help.
@@MattPerk7you are correct sir.
I love watching your reactions, your excitement gets me hyped to rewatch all of these with you.
Thank you soooooo much for being here!! ❤🎉
Im obsessed with watching you guys enjoy this marvel journey im literally waiting for the time that is loki but loving taking our time too
Thank you so much for watching with us :) We appreciate you!!!🎉
Doctor Strange is a very important character in the MCU for The Infinity Saga (phases 1-3) and the next saga which I will reveal a little later. But yeah this dude is an OP character
Oh wow!! Can’t wait to see what will happen next!!
Dr strange is important for the future not only for this saga for the next one too you must wait for that
My absolute favorite Marvel Character. So pumped for this reaction 🤓🤙
Thanks for watching!! ❤
Great reaction - we're now seeing the MCU expanding the territory of its worldbuilding - Guardians opened the door to the cosmos, this movie opens the door to the multiverse, and Wakanda will open the door to geopolitics - I'm waiting to see the MCU give us an Easter Egg w Wong and Mordo playing chess, to reference the actors' pairing in an excellent indie film, Dirty Pretty Things - also still waiting to see a Smaug/Bilbo reunion lol - Strange has an excellent origin story, re his journey (so does Dr Doom; I hope the MCU covers it) - PS - I know Thor showed us space and magic, but now we'll really see the MCU building narratives around this and exploring this new territory in earnest - in fact, the multiverse will create a context for a whole new way of using these franchises, as you'll see ;)
So so so so pumped to see where we go from here!!!!! 🎉
Best reaction to Doctor Strange yet, I swear. My favorite magical/special item from the entire MCU is the Cloak of Levitation and u even called it a cloak & not a cape! Thank u for that! (Omg, now u switched back to cape & I swear to F! Lol It’s a Cloak!!!)
😂😂😂 cloak, got it!! Cloak of levitation!!! It’s so cool!!!!
No capes!
I think I just caught onto something in this movie related to captain America. When strange and that other guy are fighting in their astral forms and go through the vending machine… isn’t that the same vending machine cap and widow hid the flash drive in when Fury was “dying” in the hospital? All this happened in the same hospital didn’t it!
I don't think so. Fury's hospital was in Washington DC. Strange's was in New York. Though it's certainly possible they used the same location for filming.
This film introduces the multiverse…the thing that would break the mcu past phase 3…
R.i.p
ALWAYS REMEMBER IT IS A CLOAK AND NOT A CAPE. SAVE YOU ALOT OF GRIEF FROM SOME OF US PEDANT MCU DORKS.
This one was mind boggling to me when I first watched it. Strong performances by all! Great character development and funny lines with good action. Pivot origin story for Dr. Strange. :)
*Pivotal.
@@ArabianLady - Why wouldn't you just edit your comment?
@jowbloe3673 I tried. It usually lets me, this time it would not.
This was a great movie! It was fun and shocking and interesting all combined! Thanks for enjoying with us :) ❤Can’t wait to watch Guardians 2 next!!!!!!
right on time!!! love enjoying for what feels like the first time when watching with you guys!!! brings me back to experiencing them the first time
You’re the best All Star!!!! Thanks for watching :)
It showed Loki on the throne.. at no point, did they say, show, or imply that Odin died in The Dark World.
Awesome review!
Thanks so much Brian!!! 😊
I was not a huge fan of this movie when I watched it. I've only seen it once before. I was a bit lost tbh with everything going on. But I'm looking forward to watch the full movie reaction on Patreon with you later! As I know how the story continues I am sure I will enjoy the movie much more on a second viewing. So I'll be back. 😊
(Phase 1-2 and especially Cap's movies are the ones I've seen the most, phase 3 movies only once, phase 4 not even seen all yet. Ooops)
So so so glad you’re here Sussie! Thanks for watching with us!! ❤
This movie was in development hell for a long time. Eventually they used the script as a basis for the "Batman Begins" movie. So a lot of people felt like this movie was unoriginal, and received a mediocre reception.
(And the same thing basically happened with the Ant-Man movie. In Development hell for years, then the script was adapted for the iron Man movie.)
I can't wait 😍
Thanks Junior!!!!!❤🎉
The "air force colonel" medical case he passed on in his car before his car crash was War Machine, injured during the events of Captain America: Civil War
This movie takes place before Civil War though.
might be the guy who got twisted by hammertech in the beginning of Iron Man 2
Aw, I was hoping you were going to watch the '70s Doctor Strange movie. It's so horrible! I want to share the misery of having watched it.
lol!!!! That would be fun to see!
@@tktopmovies It is available on TH-cam!
Man u guys are not ready for the next avengers film
What else do you want to tell them about the future?
my only gripe. who shaves like that?!
I just unsubscribed from their Patreon and TH-cam. They’ve watched Spider-Man No Way Home. What tipped me off was Captain America Civil War, where they pretended to meet Peter Parker. Don’t be fooled
They said in their Iron Man reaction that they watched NWH and were super confused because they hadn't seen any other Marvel movies other than the original Spider-Man films. As someone who personally saw Endgame in theaters before I had watched more than a handful of the other movies, it *is* in fact possible for people to see one of the later films but not have kept up with the entire MCU franchise.
If you look closely at that post, it was from 2022. I think enough time has passed that they don't likely remember it, so it would be like new. It would also be received differently after seeing everything leading up to it.
