great video! the only thing I'd have added to the combat section is when to short hop vs full jump for magic it's a fairly simple one: -always short hop for your offensive aerial magic -DO NOT SHORT HOP FOR YOUR CURE cure takes time to come out in the air. if you do a short hop for cure, you'll likely end up canceling the cure animation by landing BEFORE your cure actually goes off, and you'll land back in the same danger you were in before with no healing. and then likely die. so don't short hop for cure. I'm guessing most people in a speedrun audience will probably know this already, but brand new prospective runners might not, and casual players watching to improve their casual play also might not, so I think it's worth mentioning.

Hi, I have found this video really helpful! I wished to knew these things sooner! are you planning on making/do you know if already exists a video of the same kind for KH2FM? (these two are my most favorite games, and I also was looking for useful teachings regarding how to play properly both of them)
Thank you for this, it's very important knowledge and that's what I wanted for the game in general ( with 2 and 3 ). Full video explaining the basics then exercices like with the globe, it's very important in order to master the game with training and help enormously with speedruns because if you do a randomizer or if a strat doesn't work the it should ( rare but can happen ), to improvise you need to have, in my opinion, a good understanding of how the game works. Anyway that's great, just think it could be nice to have some editing like for exemple, with dodgerolls, comparing side by side with a timer. It's nice to know exactly or to see clearly how much time you save. And maybe adding chapters in the description if you can ( for me it worked one time and didn't work since haha ). But that's very good, so thank you for this, Violin
I am 3 trophies away from perfection (no continue, no changing keyblade/acc. , and within 15 hr) I am on beginner just bc i thought it would be quicker, and around lvl 55, with 11.5 hours so far. I am stuck at the back to back final ansem bosses. Will mushu still be op during these fights, or only during damage storage? Do you recommend i start over on proud and do the no exp and storage damage route or no? i recently found your channel and its been incredibly helpful. :)
Yo, what? You're telling me there's a way to sorta command Donald and Goofy in combat?!?! Even if it's limited that's wild, I had zero clue that was a thing!
I'm a little confused on the timing for the combos, when exactly do you do the inputs, is it when Sora's attack lands or something different? I hope that makes sense
That thing with Donald not using Gravity on behemoth i remeber Gravity is good agenst behemoth or is that just the final rest behemoth Gravity is good agenst
@@ViolinSpeedruns that makes sense actually, I can play KH1 on Japanese no problem but the killer for me is that O is the confirm button and X is for cancel in Japan (attacking with O and jumping with X 😅), it's the other way around for the rest of the world and it's so hard to get used to.
@@chimeratcg07 PC lets you customize whether you want X or O confirm (which you can set once and forget) and PS4 lets you swap the buttons globally as an accessibility option (which you can then manually toggle on or off from the PS menu whenever you start or quit KH). the only quirk is on PS4, if something says X, it's O, and vice versa (X/O shortcuts, for example) but that's not too bad to get used to. (Idk if you can or how to do it on Xbox or Switch but since you said O and X for the button names I'm guessing you're not on Xbox or Switch :P)

do a MOSTLY full hop for Cure, but i would recommend full hops until you get it down since missing a cure is really bad
Couldn't have timed this better, I was just thinking about getting into speedrunning after finishing my lvl 1 playthrough the other day
I'm never intending to speedrun any game, but it wouldn't hurt to learn some tricks to speed up the more annoying parts.
so many people hate this game for the combat but don't even know how to play it. Thanks for making this video.
Why would people hate this game? KH1 is awesome, especially for its time.
The magic in the game is extremely useful. Stuff like graviga, thundaga, & aeroga are all fun to use.

I need to clear the game in 15 hours for an achievement. Ty for the guide
Did you?
If its too scuffed you can wait 100h and then beat it between hour 100 to 115, the game will count it as under 15h
Wow, this was very helpful. I've played KH1 for a long time, and I barely have the menu memorized.
This was really interesting ! So fun to watch and learn about things i never really thought about when watching speed runs C:
This will be very useful in Randomizer races, thanks for this a lot!
This was super helpful and well explained, thank you for doing this! Time to go practice against the globe constantly

i've been doing kh1 speedrun strats without even knowing it lmao
Great video
Me, who is trying to do the Speedster Trophy: yes, this is useful 👀
Me too lol, just some precaution lol

Thanks for the video! That menu position tips awesome, does it work in kh2 by chance?
It kinda works for KH2, but the menu cursor can reset for various reasons, and the command menu cursor resets to the top after confirming a selection.
Love the video
would it be the same on mouse and keyboard?
I'm a little confused on the timing for the combos, when exactly do you do the inputs, is it when Sora's attack lands or something different? I hope that makes sense
it's right after Sora finishes his swing
Kh1 as far as i can tell is the only one that rewards timing your button presses. Wish it came back in future games
Only issue is how fast enemies are so timing attacks would possibly result in taking damage@@cypher838
That thing with Donald not using Gravity on behemoth i remeber Gravity is good agenst behemoth or is that just the final rest behemoth Gravity is good agenst
Dorsn't work against the first behemot as it's counted as a boss, but the other behemots gravity works against.
Can we talk about that he is lv 36, has the fairy harp (idk if it is correct in english) keyblade but lingers in tt after 30 minutes of ingame play.
I'm really confused
@@ViolinSpeedruns why?
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here

There's a specific reason on why you're doing this on the Japanese version instead of the localized version?
JP is faster by 20 seconds because of text
