Wonderful, and balanced. I love the way you each approached and explained your choices. I tend to read/listen to the NLT for a face-paced ‘big picture (especially in the narrative sections. I read the CSB at a normal rate for both devotional and basic study. Finally, I read the NKJV at the slowest rate for more fine details and for in-depth study.
Yes , yes , yes on the NKJV. I feel like when I read the ESV I’m following the directions to putting together a baby crib, it gets me there but sometimes it misses the mark on understandability. Read all of 2nd Peter in either the ESV and compare it with the NKJV. The NKJV flows so well, it practically allows one to memorize whole chunks of the Bible in a easy amount of time.
Yea CSB! From a new "convert" to the CSB, who also uses the NET and NKJV. My other "consulting" ones are the ESV, NASB 2020, LSB, HCSB and NIV. And the WEB because it is Public Domain. Thanks for your channel! Blessings!🙋🏼♂️😊🎯
At the moment, I'm using the NASB 95 to study with since I'm doing a lot of word studies. However, I go to the NIV and will be using NLT for passages that are difficult to understand. I grew up using the KJV and switched to the NKJV. The KJV-only camp almost had me persuaded but by the grace of God, I wasn't there for long. I then began using the ESV while researching the history and application of manuscripts. Most recently, I got a free copy of the LSB on accordance and now I'm using the NASB 95. I must admit, I really like the LSB at the moment but I think the NIV might be one of my favorites since it is easier to teach my children with and that's what matters most to me.
I grew up with the nkjv. It has only been these couple of years I'm starting with the esv, partly because my church switched from the nkjv to esv many years ago and also the cool heirloom bibles Crossway have in their lines. But I got to say, I still miss my nkjv sometimes
Kjv- carry round, preferred NLT- reference, to understand the thought, dynamic equivalent LSB- study, reference, literal analysis YLT- study, preferred reference, literal analysis of the tanhak & textus receptus texts, present tense KJ3- same as YLT without the present tense, different areas of literal analysis NASB77&95- same as LSB, different backgrounds
I keep going to the Berean and find I can read long passages without realizing time has passed. It is also perfect for reading aloud. I may use it for my read thru Bible in 2023. I use NRSV for OT study and poetry and NAS for NT.
Agree with you Frisch. I am a kjv, nkjv, nasv, LSB with John MacArthur Study Bible 2nd edition. I like Life Application Bible nasb also. But I don't have the John MacArthur Study Bible or Life Application Bible
The Passion Translation was removed from Biblegateway as you all know. How come "The Voice" got a pass? It was along the same lines. And why in the world hasn't "The Message" been removed? All three are not translations and they are not paraphrases. They are unduly free. The word "paraphrase" has several connotations. Tim, maybe you could do a program on the various meanings of the word.
I think most people are stuck on the translation names themselves, if you took the label of nkjv off the spine as well as other translation names out would you still feel the same? if you didn't know which translation you were reading at any given time would you still feel the same?
I use the NASB1995 as my daily, because I have a physical one. I have a lot of respect for the Geneva Bible and ASV1901. I want to have a majority text Bible, like the World English Bible or the Majority Standard Bible by the Berean group.
The Passuon "Translation" is NEITHER a translation nor a paraphrase. When you paraphrase something, you are not supposed to add in your own ideas, and that is what the Passion Translation does
I most like the ESV and the CSB. I have a ton of respect for the NKJV, I love the KJV heritage, but the main issue for me is I'm simply not Majority Text let alone Textus Receptus. I prefer the ESV to the NKJV since I think the ESV has a better textual basis. I know many disagree, but I'm just stating my opinion at this point, without wishing to debate textual critical issues. Still I have a ton of respect for the NKJV. Also I sometimes wonder if the NKJV might be as popular as the ESV if the NKJV didn't capitalize divine pronouns and improved other formatting. As far as the CSB, I find the CSB is very good when trying to communicate with the unchurched and with non-native English speakers, which are groups that I often run in. I really love the CSB for its accuracy, clarity, and naturalness. I love the ESV for its accuracy, but it's not as clear or as natural sounding as the CSB, even though the ESV is more elegant or literary sounding, at least to my ears.
KJV for me. l find all these later "versions/translations" have such small differences/nuances in their wording compared to the 1611 that I feel there really isn't all that much new under the sun.
I know this may be a difficult question but I am 49, and trying to get back into the Bible. I just do not understand the KJV wording. I’ve seen all these reviews and still confused. What Bible is the easiest to read without taking away from anything. I am conservative if that matters and southern 😂. But I do not know any bibles and trying to decide the easiest to read verse by verse in todays language but still being biblically correct is getting confusing. CSB, NASB, NIV, NKJV , and all the others I don’t know. Can you HELP!!!😂
I highly recommend new king James and use a new living translation as your parallel bible. You may very well end up making the new living translation as your main bible..iamthehusband of toni..blessings and grace
The Passion Translation is a joke, but let's be for real, the ESV is a pretty damn bad translation as well. The KJV also fails to translate decently, but it does read pretty epic so that makes it up for the poor quality.
I think Tim made some good points, and I like what Tim said. But, overall, I have to say I agree more with Tim’s views.
Wonderful, and balanced. I love the way you each approached and explained your choices.

I'd like to start a Bible review channel, but I dont want to change my name to Tim.
😂 Well, the other option is Randy
I’m thoroughly enjoying this conversation between you brothers. Thanks for the videos!
Wow! What a dynamic group of some of my fave youtubers! What a blessing.
Three Tims walk into a bar...
For readability, I recently discovered the Modern English Version; I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it.
Love the NLT, NKJV, CSB! I also like the NASB, KJV and the Geneva Bible!!

You should do a weird study on Genesis 1:6. Firmament 😏✝️
Best word for word English translation are NASB 95 and NASB 2020. Looking at the Legacy Standard Bible, and it looks to be very good.
For me it's KJV, NKJV, NASB 95. Those are my top 3
I would like to include the LSB with Dr. John MacArthur Study Bible 2nd edition
Hey same here!! NKJV is my all time favorite if I had to choose just one. The footnotes are priceless, showing all the manuscript line variations.
Loving the NASB 2020. Regards from the UK.
I grew up with the nkjv. It has only been these couple of years I'm starting with the esv, partly because my church switched from the nkjv to esv many years ago and also the cool heirloom bibles Crossway have in their lines. But I got to say, I still miss my nkjv sometimes
Got a 2017 CSB coming in the mail. Can't wait to get it!!
Kjv- carry round, preferred
NLT- reference, to understand the thought, dynamic equivalent
LSB- study, reference, literal analysis
YLT- study, preferred reference, literal analysis of the tanhak & textus receptus texts, present tense
KJ3- same as YLT without the present tense, different areas of literal analysis
NASB77&95- same as LSB, different backgrounds
NIV is my favorite
I love the Kjv, but reading out loud I prefer the Nkjv, and sometimes like to consult the Nlt.
NASB95 & NKJV all day for me! Praise 👏 God the Father through our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit!
Amplified Classic for the win!
I've been reading the BSB a lot lately. It's like if the ESV and NIV84 mixed together with a sprinkle of KJV poetry.
I keep going to the Berean and find I can read long passages without realizing time has passed. It is also perfect for reading aloud. I may use it for my read thru Bible in 2023. I use NRSV for OT study and poetry and NAS for NT.
I use the NKJV and BSB and I love them both
I'm an LSB and CSB girl. My husband's loving the NRSV (89 edition) at the moment.
Agree with you Frisch. I am a kjv, nkjv, nasv, LSB with John MacArthur Study Bible 2nd edition. I like Life Application Bible nasb also. But I don't have the John MacArthur Study Bible or Life Application Bible
Have y’all talked about Robert Alter’s translation? Or John Goldingay?
The Passion Translation was removed from Biblegateway as you all know. How come "The Voice" got a pass? It was along the same lines. And why in the world hasn't "The Message" been removed? All three are not translations and they are not paraphrases. They are unduly free.

Favorite translation to read: NLT
Passion translation useless? YES!
I have been enjoying the LSB , NASB95 and CSB
I think most people are stuck on the translation names themselves, if you took the label of nkjv off the spine as well as other translation names out would you still feel the same? if you didn't know which translation you were reading at any given time would you still feel the same?
ESV, KJV, MLV
I'll stick with my main NASB95 and my 4 other translations that I use for comparison: KJV, NKJV, ESV & RSV.
I use the NASB1995 as my daily, because I have a physical one.
I have a lot of respect for the Geneva Bible and ASV1901.
I want to have a majority text Bible, like the World English Bible or the Majority Standard Bible by the Berean group.
I started NIV84 and Living Bible when i was young .. but I love NKJV, NASB95, Enjoying now NASB2020 and CSB.. not much with ESV...
The Passuon "Translation" is NEITHER a translation nor a paraphrase. When you paraphrase something, you are not supposed to add in your own ideas, and that is what the Passion Translation does
Should just call this "3 Timothy."
Nrsv, Nasb, nkjv and the nlt are my favorites

Boo on both the Passion and the Message! 😝
Exodus 21:7-11

Go to a site like biblegateway and open up some passages in multiple bible versions. See which one you consistently prefer reading.
LSB!
What kind of NKJV is that that Tim Nickels is holding?
It’s a Large Print Thinline from Thomas Nelson Premier Collection rebound by ICA Bibles.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Thanks Tim!
KJV
Common English Bible is great!!!
new world is my favorite
CSB, NASB95 and NKJV
And when people use the Amplified as their main Bible and try to preach from it...
NKJV and NASB95
The Passion Translation is a joke, but let's be for real, the ESV is a pretty damn bad translation as well. The KJV also fails to translate decently, but it does read pretty epic so that makes it up for the poor quality.
I really like Tim and Tim, but Tim...not so much... 😉
It is NOT a translation (passion) the man adds & takes away God Word…he is false -
