I'm in the same boat as far as loving the pocket size! Can't keep my hands off my Moleskine Daily! It's so comforting to listen to someone with the same obsession
I love your pocket notebook. I started carrying just a passport travelers notebook with me everywhere. I wear a uniform with a cargo pocket so I have it with me all the time. I really enjoy seeing other people using pocket notebooks. I know its helped me with reading notes and work notes. Great video! I really hope you do a video on your reading notes. I'd definitely like to see what kind of set up you have.
Thank you so much! They are truly so useful. I love to see how different people use them too, I get so many great ideas from others. And I love that you get to keep yours close at hand! It is a requirement for my bags to fit my pocket notebook 😂 And I actually just filmed the reading notes video, so I should hopefully have that up in the next week or so!
Congrats on getting over, working thru the fear of using the Field Notes. I struggle with that. But we must allow ourselves to enjoy this beautiful stationery! Thats why we buy it!!😊
They have signature stamps at the redwood parks????Cool beans! I am going at the end of the month and will have to get my travelers notebook stamped!! Thanks for sharing!
Yes! I think all visitor centers in National Parks have passport stamps! I always make it my mission to collect stamps when I visit any national parks or state monuments 😂
This was awesome! I often find it frustrating when there are so many cute notebooks that just aren’t good with fountain pens. Using a Hobonichi Weeks this year as my main planner, but it is a weird size. I love that pocket size. I recently bought a Muji A6 planner for next year and I love the layout, so I’ll see how that goes with fountain pens before I decide whether or not to get another Hobonichi.
Thank you! And yes I totally agree, it can be so hard to find notebooks/planners that work with fountain pens. The weeks is definitely an aquired taste in terms of size 😂 I hope the Muji one works for you!
I am back in process of finding a new perfect for my journaling, tracking, bullet journal routine after what I had been doing stopped really working for me. I've been thinking I'm gonna try a Cousin next year so I can refocus on just doing the journaling I miss and not think about seeing up spreads at all. But I also like these common place log books as well. I like your layout style and let system - very neat and easy to follow as you flip through things later. Gotta check out that app too. Could make life a lot easier maybe.
I definitely get the feeling of things not working anymore! I really love dated planners because I also don’t like having to set up all the spreads. I do have to be okay with blank pages when I miss days though. But using the Daylio app has made me feel totally okay about missing days in my planner/journal because I know I recorded my day digitally. Thanks for your comment! 🫶
Really enjoyed watching this video and wouldn't mind at all, if you end up doing a mid year techo kaigi. I can completely understand your hesitation to using a fancy notebook. I have the same issue if the notebook is too expensive, which is why even though I like moleskin, spending 25€ and up on a notebook and then having the stress about "messing it up" was one reason I didn't use them very often. Then I found the same sales you mentioned on their website and I've been buying their outdated daily calenders as notebooks. My current journal/bujo is their large 18 month daily calender that has over 500 pages and cost me only 10€. And because it was so cheap, there is no stress of having to have perfect spreads. And when the notebook is full I can toss it to the recyckle bin without feeling like I just through away money.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’m thinking I’ll do my updated techo kaigi in August, in preparation for hobonichi releases in September ☺️ And yes, using outdated planners honestly works so well! It’s so easy to ignore, change, or cover up the old dates. Sounds like you got an absolute steal of a deal!
Hi Dez! I’ve been confused about commonplace books, but seeing your little books made me so happy. They’re so cute! I tried doing a commonplace book in an A5 dotted MD notebook, but I think the size is too big for me. 😅 I liked your tip for putting down colors for the key and leaving room for new topics to appear and for less interesting topics to get let go of. I have a handful of pocket notebooks and I’m always trying to think of a way to try using them. I like your daily log too! The moleskine planner looks so classy. 🙂 I am curious about a daily log because I feel like the hours of the day and the days themselves just pass and I have no recollection of what I did.. 😅 I love mid-year techo kaigi videos so I’d be happy to see yours if you’re up to sharing. ^^ Also if you have any strategies of saving crochet patterns you’re interested in potentially doing in the future or any ways specific to crochet that you’ve found to be helpful in your journals I’d be curious to know! Same with gaming, I casually play Stardew Valley and ACNH and I’ve been looking for some inspiration other than literally copying the wiki whenever I have a question.. which is what I currently do hahahaha. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you so much!! 🥰 I also tried using an A5 notebook (Hobonichi day-free) for commonplacing and it didn’t work for me. It’s just too big for me to use consistently! So a pocket notebook might work for you too ☺️ The moleskine does look so classy! And that’s exactly how I feel, if I don’t record my day I’ll have no idea what happened 😅 The combo of the pocket log and the Daylio app has been such a game changer for me. I think I will do a mid-year techo kaigi ☺️ it might take me a sec since those videos tend to be long, but they’re so fun 😂 As far as keeping inspo, I tend to do that in Notion or Pinterest. I might make some lists in my pocket notebook though of patterns I’d like to do! When I start a pattern I usually write some notes in my pocket notebook so I can reference them easily ☺️ For games I also keep a Pinterest board for inspiration. And then I like to write down what I was doing / what my future plans are in my pocket notebook, because I definitely forget between play sessions 🙈😂 Thank you so much for your kind comment! It’s so fun to connect over these things 🥰
Hey, how do you make the circles for your keys? are they stickers or like a marker ? I just got a couple of Field Notes, and figuring out how to do this stuff.
They're stickers! I use the Stalogy washi dot stickers, specifically the 5mm size. Markers totally work too, I've used Tombow brush pens and Zig dot markers before. I prefer the stickers though, since its easier than carrying around a bunch of markers all the time.
@@dezs-diary oh thank you for the name... now I need to figure out how to buy them. You think Michael's will have them? or maybe those japanese like stores like misoo ?
@@guyhelps I think Japanese stationery stores would be your best bet! I usually get mine online from JetPens or Yoseka Stationery. I have seen them on Amazon before too, but the colors tend to be more limited

I completely agree! It’s so easy to forget that it’s meant to be used, and we can still keep it after we use it ☺️
Field notes are in my EDC too! love the size, and with a zipper insert I can keep my cards & cash on me too!
Field notes are such great little notebooks! That sounds so convenient!

I love using pocket notebooks. I'm currently using a few of them. Nice video!

Going to give Daylio a try!

i am also in stem and a pocket book enthusiast :) loved this video!
Ooh how cool! Thank you so much 🥰
Where do you get the tiny colored dots?
They’re called Stalogy washi dots in the 5mm size, and I get them either from JetPens or Yoseka Stationery!
