I followed your advice on your previous commonplace book video and now I’m so much more consistent with writing and it even extended to my other hobbies as well. There’s nothing better than getting over perfectionism.
i feel like you're among the small amt of youtubers who uses this technique "correctly". ive been watching a lot of videos about commonplace and a lot of other channels use it like a journal (too concerned with aesthetics whereas yours is just chaos). i love it!
im honestly living for these types of videos, it genuinely is so important to me to have a journal like this and while i have a very unique style and i dont see my type of journaling online, these videos feel like home
Omg this is literally an answer to the comment I've written under your video about commonplace books where I told you I couldn't "ruin" it. This is absolutely genius, I'll do it ! Thank you Crystal.
I love that the art in your journal looks almost exactly like the ones I’ve drawn in mine. Crazy how alike we all are and how no experience is original.
I wish i had that problem. For me ugly notebooks are a perfect representation of the person owning it. I consider it just so aestheticly pleasing to look at. But i feel like i just cant do it like that. My thoughts already for like i would write them down…i think i do that to understand myself better from the start. But that is also the reason my notebook consists only of prose… i think i have one drawing and one poem in my entire journal :-(
Canceled my order for a pricy fancy notebook and took your advice! It's not super ugly but it's plain and one that I have to make mine. I couldn't go fully into ugly because I'm so particular about the paper I write on but this seems like a good compromise! So I've saved myself some money on your advice :)
Love all the ideas you give and options, it just gets the creativity flowing. And you giving the tips on getting cheap paper and ugly notebooks is really smart. I started off drawing on a4 printing paper, later i got some cheap sketchbook which i really liked the paper from. But i got really lucky in the last 3 years in highschool cuz i had art as a subject and we just had piles and piles of good a4 paper to grab and use, so i just grabbed little stacks od them to work at home but also just for my own art. It was really nice drawing on nice paper without the pressure lmao
I tend to do a lot of stupid mistakes in details so I like the idea try to exaggerate it and go more wilder to free myself from fear of making mistake. I have this deep fear from childhood because of reaction my parents and teachers at school.
6:50 YESS THIS I started writing in two columns. Like, I draw a line and write on either side. What it does is it looks crammed without you struggling to reread what you wrote, because it takes those white spaces you have at the end of your paragraphs and makes them tiny. I don't think it saves space ultimately but the line also takes space etc Anyway writing small and cramped helped me a bunch
Another great idea is getting a travelers notebook with inserts. The inserts are pretty cheap and you can just take them out or cut them up, yet you still have a nice cover. Also you get up to four inserts in one notebook, for if you want to separate things.
5:43 if you ever had a doubt on her this is the moment you know that she knows what she is talking about ✨... Because of you I have a common place book in my hand and I am starting it at this moment I am actually ruining the cover by writing my name on it really really badly
Okay, so what should I do with the aesthetic books I have 😭 because I feel overwhelmed using the pretty notebooks and don’t want to write in them (yes, I’ve seen your common place notebook video), please do a video on what to do with pretty notebooks.
"Your notebooks are made to reveal yourself" is just so strong of a statement.
I followed your advice on your previous commonplace book video and now I’m so much more consistent with writing and it even extended to my other hobbies as well. There’s nothing better than getting over perfectionism.
I completely relate to this💜
i needed this, I am so afraid to be "wasting" my notebook and papers, but I need to see that I am just 🌟using🌟it despite the result
Every video feels like a conversation with a friend, and I live for that so much

Ya I love the messiness but the aesthetics also can make it personal ❤️
Agreed after watching other cmplc book videos
i used to bounce around randomly in my commonplace notebook😂when it got fuller, i had to search for empty pages
me too loll
im honestly living for these types of videos, it genuinely is so important to me to have a journal like this and while i have a very unique style and i dont see my type of journaling online, these videos feel like home
Maybe instead of stealing fruit stickers just collect the stickers off the fruit you eat over time lol
yeahh i used to work in a supermarket and the stickers had the barcode on them so they were useful
love the idea of covering up an ugly cover with tape
That ending is genius!

I NEEDED THIS VIDEO. I finally decided use a simple, not-pretty book but I HATED the cover. This video has given me a new perspective.
Your videos about commonplace books are so inspiring and you’re the first one who’s able to make me want to write more!
This makes me miss those textbook covers we used in grade school in the 80s.

Do you write down your thoughts in your journal?
You can easily trace to nice paper if u make something amazing.
Either a light box or carbon paper (even comes in chill colors nowadays)
Great video!!
you are so real

DAY 2 of asking a tour of yours commonplace books or notebooks
i love your videos, is so cool🐛💐💐
I love how all your video's are so interesting. I also find your art to be so cool. Your content rocks.
I like the lines showing through the drawings. It gives depth or texture or something.
Getting an ugly book for your journal and customizing it to break it in is such a good idea ❤
crystal, thank you soo much for making videos on journaling ❤️🩹 your videos inspire me greatly
i wrote ms frizzle's catchphrase on my first page to remind myself of this!!

i used to think i was journaling wrong because it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing :( i was a bit discouraged

I literally only discovered u like 2 days ago but you’re my biggest inspiration rn i love u

journaling queen
You're really really helping me
Your art is amazing

I am actually ruining the cover by writing my name on it really really badly
what type of pen do you use to write/draw?? I really like it and I've been searching for something similar for a while now
Thanks a lot for your videos!

Scribble all over the first inside page with a color you hate and then it seems less beautiful and you’re more likely to use it!
I have some really nice journals I want to use but I don’t want to wreck it
I'll pick a trash notebook the next time I'm in town (and I actually remember to do that, lol) this seems... fun. Worth a shot, right?
my notebook is a mix of messy and organized
When you draw on your notebook do you like use a pencil first or use a ball pen, I’m to lazy to use a pencil is that fine
idk why but at 6:12 it made me laugh
As someone who works in a grocery store, please don’t mess with the fruit stickers.
Get a grip lol
@@kathyhackney7950 Get an attitude adjustment, lol
@@emtrovert 👍
oh why?
@@cringeflex According to the comments, some supermarkets have the barcodes in them. Which seems like a... half truth at best. But wouldn't know.
Good fuckin advice.
Please do more of this 😅
Whats your favorite colers and favorite record?
you're so cool
👍
❤
Hey are your books A5? please reply, i have noticed you don't reply

You're weird - I like weird. 😂
