    You can learn a lot from watching a commercial fisherman getting bait, thanks for making the video and we are always learning new ways of getting bait as it’s what we do for a living here

    Great video Chris, like your passion for kids fishing, me and my son hit the banks of the Ohio river as much as possible for flatheads, he’s 14 and we’re building memories, we always thank the Lord for the time we get together!!!

    Another great video as always, Chris I really need to learn a lot about gizzard shad. My home lake doesn’t have skipjacks but it does have white perch and gizzards and treadfin shad. Late fall and winter I like using shad. Treadfin isn’t too hard to find but the gizzards are tough. I’ll catch some with the treadfin but not a lot. Do you have any suggestions that might help. Thanks. Oh PS I’m trying to get all Catfishers to Fly Ol Glory on their boats in support of our Veterans. If you don’t have one, would you please put one on your boat. God Bless America 🇺🇸

    • @slungercatoutdoors
      @slungercatoutdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Patriot Catfishers of AMERICA and check out a video I done called All about Gizzard shad there is a lot of info on that video. Gizzards can be tough at times but a lot of it is matching your net size to what you are capable of using and also legally aloud to use. But check that video out and if you still have questions just let me know. Thanks for watching as well.

    Chris, what do you suggest for taking care of skipjack for vacuum sealing for the freezer, if you caught them 6 hours away , I want to keep them as fresh as possible, what do you suggest? A brine mix with rock salt or what? Thanks in advance.

    • @slungercatoutdoors
      @slungercatoutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Randy I would absolutely use a brine mix and then just pack them in ice real good until you got home. They will stay good and fresh. As soon as the it warms up enough I’m planning on doing a test video to show what the brine mix does. Thanks for watching hope this helped

    Hey Chris, you may have answered this in another video, but how are you keeping up in that current? Are you anchored or using Spot lock on the troller? I would have to guess that you are anchored. I don't think my 36V Ulterra could hold my ProCat 240 in the fast of a current. If you are anchoring, what kind of setup are you using? Thanks for your videos. I'm trying to learn all that I can!!!

    • @slungercatoutdoors
      @slungercatoutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reel Therapy I’m actually using the trolling motor on spot lock. Now it will work the guts out of it and drain the batteries fast but it holds good in my ProCat 200. 36 volt terrova 112

      @reeltherapy4877 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@slungercatoutdoors Do you use the alternator charger in your boat to charge your troller batteries on the fly? Just curious how well they work for you. I just put one in my Ark

    • @slungercatoutdoors
      @slungercatoutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No normally most places I fish the batteries will last me all day unless I’m on the Mississippi then I carry a small 2000 watt generator with me to run the second half of the day to keep them up.

    Hello, nice video. Me and my son are new to catfishing and want to catch so.e skipjack. We live on i75 20 min. South of lexington. Can be in Cincinnati or Louisville in 1.5 hours. Us there a chance of catching skip right now in July. Thanks for any help

      Thanks for watching and reaching out to me. The Ohio river is full of skipjack in your area but can be hit or miss this time of year. Meldahl Dam, Markland Dam, McAlpine Dam and Cannelton Dam are all good dams to catch skipjack this time of year. Good luck!

    When does the skipjack start running?

    • @slungercatoutdoors
      @slungercatoutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cwick Still it really all depends on where you are located. For me around the Ohio River its the end of April beginning of May. But for example down south on Pickwick Lake and Wilson Lake they have been catching a few all winter. Thanks for watching

      Skips never stop! What stops is the know how to get them, I commercial fish and always find new way to get them even all winter while most of your fisherman stay home during winter time 😂
