Such a bitch ass injury. My navicular bone started sticking out after an ankle sprain on skateboard, and it's been 5 months now. I can walk again and skateboard, but I am always feeling that annoying pain all of sudden. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.

Excellent video. I have suspected navicular stress fractures in both feet from running too much. I'm awaiting MRI scans for confirmation but in the meantime I have Aircast boots. I wore the boots the whole time for the first couple of days but my skin became very itchy and I'm convinced the boots will cause major skin problems if I wear them all day for 2 months. Can I take the boots off in bed or when I'm at my desk, if I avoid putting any weight on the feet? Obviously it's impossible to eliminate all movement between the feet and lower legs if I do that.

Was it navicular stress fracture and did it go away?

@@sajeedkhan2168 No! Despite matching the causes/symptoms of navicular stress fractures (increase in running volume, pain on the 'N' spot etc.), the MRIs didn't show any fractures and my problems were diagnosed as issues with the soft tissues (neuritis/neuropathy/tendinopathy). Still hasn't fully gone away. From what I understand, navicular stress fractures wouldn't just go away; they really need immobilizing with no weight-bearing for a few weeks.

Hi doc, for how long should we do a conservative treatment after 6 weeks of NWB in a cast?

With my patients I try 6 months of conservative care unless they have symptoms with a progression of activities

do you have a navicular injury? I’m a pole vaulter and I had my surgery last July. It took almost a full year of recovery pretty much, but I am getting back to it now.
