My Fieldpiece SMAN 360 reads vacuum in microns. Also, how I do miss living near the coast. I’m “stuck” in the high desert for now, though we do have some pretty epic sunrises and sunsets. No ocean waves though, just waves of dust when the wind picks up as it often does. 😀
Don’t know if anyone has caught this yet but If you notice on those gauges it was reading -14.5 PSI not inches of mercury. Not different transducer just that they don’t switch units. -14.7psi is a perfect vacuum at sea level. For reference -14.5psi = -29.5 inhg. Very odd choice for a refrigeration gauge set.
Goowd Stuff Brother Dave. Stay safe and be well. Awesome view for 1st thing. I lived on the Eastern shore beach for 14yrs.. never a dull sun rise or sunset.
Amazon has some bad a** carts that fold up flat and they fit behind a seat or pretty much anywhere. 300lb rating. I have 2 on my truck and they have been a life saver. I really like my new Testo scale with the solenoid valve. You can input how much refrigerant if doing by weight and it'll stop right on the money...or you can charge by SC,SH or target SH
for sure! my buddy got hot solder splattered in his eye before, one drop came off an elbow and hit top of "wet" new water heater, it turned into random micro beads that flew everywhere, including directly into his eye, in which he got lucky and was wearing disposable contact lenses! it fused onto the lens and destroyed it, still made his eye sore. that was around 1996.
Just curious, I just picked up a oxi-acetylene setup from Harris, I have a #3 #1 tip trying to get dial in before I burn up a customers system. I only have experience with a turbo torch
gather scrap pieces of various size and practice! much better to waste some rods and tubing than wasting expensive equipment and parts. probably wise to test on used/scrap filter-drier and valves also.
@@NorCal-refrigeration 20 years in hvac, I'm 6 months in refrigeration and I've learned that anytime you replace a leaky evaporator, might as well replace capillary tube if factory charge gives you a low suction psi.
@@NorCal-refrigeration hey dave , we met once in person at a Starbucks, you were riding out to a motorcycle event in morgan hill. Quick question, when you come across a compressor with bad valves or a locked rotor and you back blow the capillary tube, do you have a method where you add a certain amount of psi and time it to see if it leaks to high side?
the gen 1 testo 550 will show up to 29.83 on a vacuum....the gen 2 version i bought only shows -14...very strange...the gen 2 supposed to be newer technology and costs alot more and i have nothing but problems with it...i went back to the gen 1 and they work just fine. Im going to send the new ones in for warranty service.

Still the most. Entertaining hvac guy on TH-cam! My man !!
Thank you Mike.
Beautiful sunrise!!! Makes me want to start drink early...
Your city has some epic scenery , I understand why you would get up so early to witness that 👍
I'll take a good ol' fashion compressor change out over a cap tube any day!
Thanks for the pics
Awesome views of the sunrise and the Ocean

It’s in the comments and the testo converts for you is what I could not explain 🤣🥹

Get one of those folding metal wire carts. Like 200$. Takes little space and can hold 200lbs. Replaceable casters too
Beautiful place
Thats a nice catch on the product review... something just looking at it without using would have missed
Beautiful sunrise! Do you check charge on something like this? Resi guy.. La buena vita!

Yes sir

Do you reply the captube dry in does?

I got the same gauge i. the lowest it will go 14.5 , But they’re pretty good gauges
So far so good.
Thanks for the video. Hopefully you and yours had a good one. Do you ever have a need for hard copper? Just wondering.
I use it on installs
Cool

Hi bro from west Alabama
When changing out a compressor do you also change capillary tube to avoid any restrictions in cap tube?
I’ll back blow them. If it’s good I’ll roll the dice. If not it’s change out time.

Do you add refrigerant in the low side while it’s off if the high side doesn’t take anymore?

I’ve heard nothing but negative about gen 2. Testo.
it seems like they don't much care to convert from psi to inches of mercury, because you should be using a micron vacuum gauge anyway ;)
