    I'm trying to decimate from 54 million polys and it's not working. I have an Intel 9700K with an RTX 2080, it just says "computing" for the longest time but i can't actually seem to decimate the mesh

      You can try doing a geometry > mesh integrity > fix mesh before running, but writing out the data for that number of polygons even if the mesh is "good" is going to take a long, long while. Any chance you can break it up into smaller, more manageable sections and decimate individually?

    Question, Michael. If I were to use the new tessimation after sculpting with the new Sculptris Pro and then turning off SP(should I even tessimate?), do I need to run decimation? I'm a bit confused on the uses for the final pieces. Is that determined by what the end piece needs(animation, game-mesh, just for high res rendering concept, etc.?_

      In a production sense (not 3D printing) dynamesh and dynamic tessellation are quick ways to block in and ideate. Unless I'm doing something very specific where the UVs and vert order can't change (facial blend shapes for example), I use whatever tools are available to get my idea out quickly, refine, then worry about if I need to retopologize, and what the UVs should be once everything is figured out. Decimation with sculptris pro can be used for performance purposes though: th-cam.com/video/2bDYwpcmLKo/w-d-xo.html

      Yeah, I figured as much. I've seen how I'm able to not worry so much about topology, per se, when I'm doing 3D Printing, in that, animation flow isn't important as I'm not deforming in any way, just printing. Obviously that doesn't mean I can't clean it up for overall look for me ;) and of course running something like dynamesh master to insure a watertight mesh ready for tessimating for .stl printing I guess that's where I was getting a wee bit confused when preparing for 3d printing, if I should need tessimation, decimation, etc.?
      I know I can project the high level detail sculptris pro that's either been tessimated or not, just like I would dynameshed detail, to a low level retopologized mesh, or at least I think I know :).

      I'd LOVE if you did a series on preparing a character from concept to animation or game ready mesh. That'd be awesome. Unfortunately, there are those of us that are hungry to learn but can't afford the great tutorials out there :(.

    How to keep the polypaint when decimate? My problem if i decimate. That will be delete my poly paint how to fix this :'

      Turn on the "Use and Keep Polypaint" in the Decimation Master menu?

    Hi Michael when m using decimate master of dynamesh model it says interface item doesn't have special modifiers. Please tell me what is the meaning of this. I am stuck here.

    Question : Hi Michael, i want to know if the triangle of decimation are usefull/optimum for animation (look smooth) or how to animate a model from decimation, also can you make a video about it please thx

    does not work for models with right angles or straight edges, for example a hexagon.
