Idk why this version isn’t promoted more. It seems to work well like this.
Exactly. It fits the orchestra very well
Captures the essence of human futility in a haunting timeless melody. Pure genius
Ravel would have been honored to hear this rendition of Gaspard! Many, many praises! Magnificent!
I'm afraid he would have completely disliked it...
@@adriandurand4531 yeah, he wanted everything exactly as written. This is like twice as fast as it should be
His tempos weren't always faithful to the original piano works when he transcribed for orchestra. He knew well the difference in sonority and attention. Still, I would like to hear this at a more ponderous pace. Some of the tragedy is lost
Absolutely perfectly done. Remember, these are musical horror pieces
I'm very glad to have another version. I like it. It sounds like Berlioz.
Le Gibet is perhaps one of the darkest pieces of music I've ever heard. It's gloomy and brimming with despair. Really demonstrates the evil of this world.
I absolutely love this.
I get it that the piano’s texture is thinner and more mysterious. However, Ravel himself orchestrated Une Barque… so, it is ok and this was done well.
Hearing the music itself gave me nightmares last night 🙀🙏
HOW. IS THIS NOT. VIRAL YET? PIANO getting ALL the clout at this point
Brilliant!! As Ravel would do it himself.
I don’t have an orchestra at my disposal, some players, but I can certainly produce stuff like this..
Le Gibet is one of my favourite pieces period.
I’m going to make a good orchestral addition when I get a new computer..
Hermoso
gorgeous but too fast and loud. Le gibet is supposed to be more chillingly somber
I agree
Set playback speed to 75
Alto ? Eu não consegui ouvir quase NADA.....
magnificent. Ondine is a bit too heavy for me after the orchestration but this is just perfect.
I have an idea: change the playback speed to 25.
timthedramatic2011 75 is good as well
who did it? brilliant!
I can't believe Constant took the challenge of orch. all three parts.Transparent &light still but in orchestral terms. Ondine shold have been impossible and Scarbo -forbidding!
Too lush and sonorous for me. Ravel made this piece very _skeletal_ and the piano gives it the stark bare bones sound and feel that is perfect for the haunting quiet intensity of the piece.
It needs more xylophone. :-D
I would say it is not so the idea of "evil" that is being portrayed here as it is a portrayal of the "dread" that so often accompanies it. The piece portrays a hanged man swinging at the end of a rope (thus that relentless rhythm).

Orchestrating it is a cool concept, but the original piano version is much slower, and I think that works better. Ravel literally forces you to play it painfully slow, by instructing you to keep the pedal held down for the entire length of the piece! You have to wait for the noise to clear from every measure.
all I hear is stravinsky :))))))
Very sad and very evil
The original piano version is definitely better. And it is played too fast !
Sounds better fast. Slower lacks drama
@@GarredHATES Lacks drama ? I am not sure that drama is the point. This piece must be hypnotic and distressing. And Ravel indicated as tempo: "très lent" (very slow).
