Orchestrating it is a cool concept, but the original piano version is much slower, and I think that works better. Ravel literally forces you to play it painfully slow, by instructing you to keep the pedal held down for the entire length of the piece! You have to wait for the noise to clear from every measure.

I don’t have an orchestra at my disposal, some players, but I can certainly produce stuff like this.. Le Gibet is one of my favourite pieces period. I’m going to make a good orchestral addition when I get a new computer..

This orchestral rendition is a bit different from my expectations, but it really does justice to the great Ravel’s original piano piece. Thank you for sharing.

Why the tempo change after the bassoon intro? Most pianists do the same. But it's wrong. Ravel would be scratching his head.

top orchestration

I really like this orchestration. Reminds me a bit of the music in old cartoons.

There are many more notes which he played (demisemiquavers) while the right hand is written as quavers. It is a good outline for someone (perhaps you) to make a more accurate realisation of the performance by Volodos.

This is surprisingly late Liszt or Scriabin-like, not a musical mess like I would expect classical at his time to be.

I listened to this with headphones in my bed, alone in my room, in the night. The experience was surreal. at 6:23, my heart was beating twice as faster, and I almost felt scared. And people say classical music is boring.

I have a very interesting idea about Bach’s fugue that has brain advancement/therapy impacts, and thus, has multidisciplinary implications that no one seems to be able to perceive. And it order to explain it, I need to have a guide for the complexity of all elements in polyphonic structure. I would really appreciate your help with this highly beneficial educational project.
