how are you supposed to "speed run" when the whole point is being patience. I don't think this game is suited for Twitch. oh well ig you get different ending
@@Yuan0287W There are earlier endings you can find. Also ways to make the time pass by faster for the normal ending like feeding the fire at your "home" with coal or more special items.
I initially made a snarky comment about how this game reminded me of the Stanley Parable achievement that makes you not open the game for five years or some such nonsense. But the more I heard you talk about it, and after looking it up on Steam, I think I'm going to buy it because it seems like something I'd really love. So thank you, Joseph the Gaming Lad.
Stanley Parable has two of those, there is the achievement Go Outside, where you can't open the game for five years, then in the Ultra Deluxe edition that launched in 2022 there is the Super Go Outside achievement in which you can't open the game for 10 years.
3:35 as a noita player i can understand. noita world extremely big and there is enormous amounts of secrets. My run starst from at least 1 and half hour to get down 1 floor but i can add like another 45 minutes for getting money(10 of them is just absorbing a gold powder from about 180 m² room)
Not only does it reward and teach patience, it provides a perspective of how fast paced our society has become. We’ve become so accustomed to receiving and wanting everything right here and right now at the snap of a finger, which really makes us feel like life is slipping by so fast and provides only a quick and shallow serotonin shot. Incredible game, absolutely fascinating
It's been a long time since I checked it out, but if it hasn't changed too much and you like the slower types of games, I'd recommend Haven & Hearth. It's another survival game but the times to do things feel more "realistic" for what you're doing (don't quote me on that since I've never made leather with a tanning rack and all that, but obviously it's not like Minecraft where you can smack a cow and get leather). On another note, I'm hoping that at some point I'll see either a Fear & Hunger video or an Ultrakill video to see Joey play a game with every neuron firing every cylinder imaginable in different ways.
Joey please please PLEASE check out the game Spiritfarer: The Farewell Edition, it is such a beautiful game nobody's heard about. You play as Stella, who helps spirits to get ready to move on to the next world while you travel the world with them and discover all kinds of things. It is such an emotional game about coming to terms with saying goodbye and moving on. The graphics are really beautiful too, seriously it makes me super sad nodoby is talking about this game.
I loved this game I played it in full 400 days and I streamed most of the time I spent in it. This was a game that touched a very special place in my soul and is well worth the play.
actually a very interesting concept! reminds me of the big MMO grinds that leave you with yourself and whatever task you're doing, while contemplating life and existence for days, sometimes months... not for everyone for sure, but still pretty cool!
One of the games that taught me about patience and really enjoying the journey was Okami HD. Sometimes, you get to run through all the cities and it also lets you come back to previous cities you were in case you want to check out if you missed something
I did not expect to see you talk about this game. I sadly can't recommend this game to anyone I know, because of its premise. 😅 Hope you have fun trying out more indie gems and cover maybe one or two of them in a video! I highly recommend Outer Wilds, Disco Elysium and Norco. All of them take an interesting spin on their respective genres and have amazing writing!
If you haven't played it before, I'd highly recommend Rain World. A couple years back I went in expecting a silly metroidvania, and while it's definitely not a metroidvania, it ended up becoming one of my favorite games. It's very difficult and not for everyone, but the base game alone had such a profound, almost spiritual impact on me for whatever reason. That and the Saint campaign in the DLC is genuinely my favorite experience from any game I've ever played, though you HAVE to save it for last. Again, not for everyone, but if you want to play the most accurate simulator of being at the bottom of the food chain while discovering some of the most insane and well thought out lore I've ever seen, I couldn't recommend it enough
i played this game a while back. it was actually really interesting! i really enjoyed building out my little home, and at the end when you get one of the good endings i didnt want to leave!
I really recommend you to check out Void Stranger. It's one of my favourite games to come out this year and it really deserves more people's attention. Also the soundtrack is a banger so please go play it
I may or may not have jumped doen the big cliff - if you know you know And yes, I still haven't gotten "back" afterwards, despite "preperations" and all "xD
This game strangely reminds me of the first couple chapters in Death Stranding. Definitely a game worth playing if you like “weird” games. I have a 100 hours in that game and loved every minute...
I might try it actually, it's nice to see game actually forcing you to slow down and just take things at it is. very interesting. One of the indie game i liked a lot is Gris, the music and gameplay compliments the story, it's i think the game is massively slept on.
As for interesting and weird video games, have you ever played monument valley? It's an absolute classic imo. Highly recommended. A puzzle game based on optical illusions, originally made to be a movile game I believe, but it is also available on steam.
If you are looking for some unique games the one I would recommend first and foremost is Lisa: The Painful RPG, it is beautiful and terrible and my heart strings have still not recovered years later. Other really good options are Milk Inside a Bag of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk (and it's sequel Milk Outside a Bag of Milk Outside a Bag of Milk), FAITH: The Unholy Trinity and of course the classic Yume Nikki (which I feel like you have probably played already). Each of these is their own unique type of game that I would recommend to anyone who likes more unusual yet meaningful experiences, and are all ones that I think about even long after I've played them.
This games is just so profound, like it's beautiful, uncanny, creepy, LORE, and it's so healing in it's cute creepy 2000's media way. It's worth it to me.
One game I've ran into recently that was genre breaking for me was the outer wilds. It destroyed my expectations and I hope you try it to! It's a puzzle game :')
Ngl, this game is something I'd definitely avoid. Mostly because I'd probably just forget about it or delete for space. I'm in love with the concept though, this is probably the wildest idea for a game in a really long time
Wow this game has such a crazy concept. Props to Joey for investing the time! I don’t think I’d have the patience for a game like this. But I have to praise the game dev and Joey both for such a cool idea! Also Joey as a game suggestion you should check out Hi-Fi Rush it would be right up your alley
so another weird, interactive art sort of piece/game is Linger In Shadows. it was released only the PS3, there's no words, and you just kind of have to figure out how to interact with the scene/chapter in order for it to continue. It's very very short, maybe an hour at most, but it's one of the most unique experiences in gaming for sure.
Also I want to add Journey to this list, it's slightly longer but insanely moving. a game where you're wandering about a wreck of a civilization, discovering its history as you venture towards a mountaintop. it also pretty much doesn't use words, yet tells an amazing story. this one is also on the PS3, but was later ported PS4, windows, and iOS as well, unlike Linger In Shadows.
I played this last year! Got the happy ending! But i love existential games like this. Or Depressing Tomogachi. Plus it had a great dungeon synth ost. Highly recommend The Friends Of Ringo Ishikawa.
i watch most of joeys films 2 times speed, and this one was no exception. At first I forgot its 2 times speed and said to myself "it walks slow but its not that bad"...

CrossCode is a nice indie game I think you would enjoy.
I haven’t played The Longing but, Joey, I feel like you’d like something like Outer Wilds, it’s a fairly slow and beautiful game about exploring space. (Not to be confused with The Outer Worlds, the sci-fi RPG by the devs of Fallout: New Vegas)
I played this when it came out. It was an interesting experience. Btw if you cheat, the game will know and will put you in a cheaters room. To restart the game you have to delete the steam cloud file, and then the file on your computer.
The longing was such a pleasant surprise. The genuine excitement at the simplest progress was.. weird? But weirdly not bad? This game was such a contradiction.
Got all the 25 achievements in 51.6 hours. (The Longing) There are things to do to speed-up the time. That was a very zen and very enjoyable game IMHO. I got the "good ending".
If I had to suggest anything to play that's a bit different, though it's not really redefining I find puzzle games can be some of the most beautiful games I would suggest if you're interested gorogoa, Machinarium and my childhood classic game the Tiny bang story.
I'm not an impatient person, but I don't feel like wasting up to 400 days on an art project when a bog standard anime like Frieren an get me attached to 5+ characters in 1 episode. I can write a super accurate autobiography that details every agonizing second of my life... but it takes true skill to condense that into a leaflet at leave a profound impact.
You mentioned a 6th, "truest" ending- do you have a source for that at all? Like a reddit post or some other obscure website thread? Just bought the game and i wanna figure this out lol
I am hoping you can help me out.I see pop ups for the mattocks but where are they? How do you hang pictures. How do you build a bed.How do you get color? Can you leave a “marker” to designate where you have been before?I have been wandering around for weeks doing nothing. Are there any tips or tricks that would help me play the game?I have asked so many people,no one seems to know.Everyone says they are just waiting for the king to wake up.They are not really playing the game.I want to play the game. Please help.
I want to see Connor try to speed run this just to see him suffer
Wait faster!
how are you supposed to "speed run" when the whole point is being patience. I don't think this game is suited for Twitch. oh well ig you get different ending
@@Yuan0287W the fastest run is currently at 2 hours 22 minutes. The ingame time speeds up by doing certain things
@@Yuan0287W There are earlier endings you can find. Also ways to make the time pass by faster for the normal ending like feeding the fire at your "home" with coal or more special items.
I could never play this game, not only because I lack patience but also because I lack this kind of commitment
Im the same way
I love the idea and what the game is trying to say
But my add would make playing this impossible
I have this 13 minute video on 2x speed 😂 Yeah I acutally could never

This game is not worth the torture, but I would love to watch Conner play this game. XD
Oh? You sure?
I love it! 100% worth my time and my money.

Honestly considering how much time the shade has to wait, i can't fault them to walk slow cause, what's the rush?
To get the hell out of there.

This game is a V I B E. Took me 120h to 100% it. Loved it all the way through.
I've been wanting to play the longing for a while but I'm just scared to start because of how long it is. Good on you for finishing Joey

I was kind of disappointed in this game when I found out the devs backpedaled on the main premise and let you speed up time.
same
kinda agree, but fyi there is a method in which you can turn off the acceleration of time, so you have to wait the 400 days proper
Ya it should be impossible tho right @@lessie3315

Hylics, both 1 and 2 are some of the most surreal rpg's ive ever seen, super cool. and i think the dialogue is randomly generated too in some way
I love The Longing! I’m glad it hasn’t been forgotten. I still think about it all the time, and I played it years ago.

You should try "My Summer Car" it's a game that goes at its own pace as well but so worth finishing the car.
