    This is one of the best DIY videos I've seen. Very clear and well explained without extraneous information. Thanks very much!

    Thank you SO MUCH!! Believe it or not I watched like 4 videos all showing the WRONG way to wind up that stupid spring if it uncoils. The drill trick does NOT work, or does the plyers trick. Installing that hook in first and getting the first 3 coils in is the ONLY way. Again ... been fussing with this thing for 2 days. You are a lifesaver! BTW did everyone know that POULAN will NOT offer phone support anymore on chainsaws? Also you can't email them for help, they say click on the 'experts' tab in the right corner - well there is NO experts tab. The only thing you can do for help is take it in to an 'authorized service center' and hope they don't want to charge you $$. Thankfully videos LIKE THIS ONE, allow you to fix it yourself!

    I tried to wrap it like you showed several times and had no luck. I wrapped it inside the retaining ring and that worked much easier then was more careful installing it the second time and good to go.

    very helpful! Thanks so much. My (reused) spring looked like your bad example and after a bit my saw was running again.

    Thank you for this perfect video! Worked exactly as shown with great explanations. Cord now recoils properly and chainsaw fired-up on first pull. You might add text or explanation about how much to tighten/torque screw in center of pulley. I think mine had been over tightened at factory which caused hard pulls and caused the spring to break prematurely. It also caused a bend in the assist spring.

    This video was very helpful for me. Especially when you don't have the patience to wait on a man to fix things. 🙄 Thanks for making it simple to follow!

    l have a Giantz 75cc 22'' chainsaw. This chainsaw has 2 springs, one ( assuming) sucks the rope in which is 6mm, other is 12mm starts the engine. After l changed the snapped spring (12mm) Everything was ok till l tried starting it. There was only one revolution which wasnt enough to start it. l fooled around with for a while but, l coudnt work it out. Where did l go wrong? Thank you for sharing such a helpful video :)

    Good video. No way you can ever rewind coil by that method. Tried many times, is impossible. :) Also, best to put duct tape while placing as taking band off.

    I have a craftsman blower I've tighten the coil and put it back the together but when pull the rope the coils will not wind back, could it be something to do with the engine or the pulley itself?

    It would be nice if the recoil spring I ordered would have still been retained in the red retainer instead of becoming unsprung in the packaging upon delivery.

    To bad don't sell pre round covers since they crack by time spring breakers.

    Try doing a MS 180C Stihl chainsaw spring

      We have only very few aftermarket parts for the Stihl products. I haven't taken the opportunity to open one of these up.

    Where did you buy that recoil spring

  • @100949football
    @100949football 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why, after following your instructions to the absolute letter and prior to finally tightening the screw holding the mechanism down the starter recoils as it should. When tightening the screw the whole mechanism firms up and does not recoil?????

      You may need to pull it apart again. Something is out of place or in the wrong order.

      Try backing out the screw, that holds the hub in, just a half turn or so.

    • @edchaos2679
      @edchaos2679 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomlampros7122 yeah. I tried that too. It seems the spring wont stay engaged in the recoil spool. So I guess it's time for a new one. Glad I know where to buy it.
