Great series of vids. Thanks for producing them! I own a 2004 FXT in the same colour & I’ll be tackling the timing belt + valve cover gaskets very soon. Will also be respraying the bumpers & garnish pieces. Big thumbs up from NSW, Oz.
Thank you for checking out the series. It’s always great to hear that the vids help out. Restoring the trim adds a ton to the vehicle’s overall look. Best of luck with the upcoming work!
Hi Chadwick - your timing is perfect as here in South Australia I’m going to buy another Subaru XT - I’ve owned nine Subarus over thirty years including WRX GC98, XT Turbo 2010 Forester and Leone Wagon - I am selling my Hilux 4WD as running costs here are double compared to running my Subarus - you’ve done well with the condition of your XT - I’m looking at XT Turbo Foresters between 2003-07 as the forums indicate they use a semi-closed aluminium block design and multi steel head gaskets where the non-turbo use open block and the problematic steel/granite gaskets - what are your thoughts? - I look forward to watching your work on the.XT.
Thank you very much. I’ve always been a massive fan of turbo Subaru’s of this vintage. I find them to be quite stout and reliable but maintenance is everything. Regular oil changes, timing belt services, and spark plugs go a long way towards them living long lives. Difficult to find stock, the Forester XT is one of my favorites.
Great series of vids.
