Same, clean tombstone. Taker's almost half a foot taller than Hulk. I like the Hogan character, but there's a reason Taker is the only person allowed to pile-drive someone.
I’ve waited years to hear The Undertaker break character and speak openly about the business. This last couple of weeks has been fantastic hearing Mark share some of the endless great stories that he must have stored away.
I was just thinking, everyone knew it was staged and even the wrestlers admitted it around 2000-2005. This man stayed in character all the way upto his retirement. Man is the epitome of Traditional/Old School.
@@fakename503 Amongst the MANY gimmicked wrestlers over the decades, I believe the argument can be made that The Undertaker may very well be the most kayfabe wrestler the business has seen. That is certainly the case in his era to be sure. ‘Taker protected the business in very profound ways…from his actions as the Montreal screw job was playing out (wrapping the hands and ready to put it down) to his spending years acting as the judge in the (in)famous “wrestlers court”, it certainly can’t be said that he didn’t “live the gimmick” and protect the business above all else. Just listen to how others in the business speak of him. He is spoken of with a level of respect and reverence usually reserved for the most elite of the all-time greats in the business. The way that he carried and conducted himself in, and especially out, of the ring had an incredibly large part in that, by nearly all accounts. Thanks for the comment, I couldn’t agree more and it made me look at his career from an entirely new perspective…I appreciate that. Be well, my friend.
I would actually kill someone just to have a BBQ with him, like joking but not joking I would pay all the money in the world just to be able to talk to Taker
Everyone yes Good ol Texas BBQ with The deadman !!! His interviews have be so REAL and ya I’m loving the fact that he is on his last I don’t care everyone is gonna see the real me part of his life
If I ever became terminally ill and Make-a-wish came to me saying I could have one request. No matter how big. I’d ask for a table, two chairs, a bottle of JD Whiskey, Mark Callaway, myself and three hours. That’s all I’d need.
I was 11 years old when I watched it. As I loved HH, I was shaken. However, when the slow mos ran, even I, as a naive/dumb kid wondered that his head never hit the ground or anything.
*To play devil's advocate here:* Hogan never said "Undertaker hurt me with the tombstone piledriver". Hogan said: "The tombstone messed up my neck." As in, the mere ACT of taking the bump from that move injured him. Hogan was 40 years old when he fought Undertaker, and hadn't taken any REAL bumps like that in the ring for quite some time. He was getting fragile. Also of note: *Your neck can be damaged in one of TWO ways from a tombstone piledriver:* 1.) From impact with your head hitting the canvas (didn't happen in Hogan's case). 2.) From neck EXTENSION. Sort of like a hangman's noose. Your shoulders stop but your head and neck keep DROPPING.
Just because Hogan's version of events changes to make him look better - every time he tells a story - does not mean he's a liar! He just has a creative memory!
I remember this match and being like that tombstone looked so fake! Haha like there was no way he did any damage to hogan. I’m a full blown hulkamanic but this was bullcrap

I took the tombstone probably a hundred times in my career at least. I never got hurt once, and we were independent guys. The only move that ever injured me was an F5 that I botched the landing on. A 13 year career and no tombstones injured me. Hogan was always a politician in the business.
He was my 2nd favorite after 'Taker. Im amazed that, after all he has been through, that Mick Foley even has the ability to walk on his own accord today. I (and probably many others) would say that whereas Hogan has wrestlings biggest ego, Mick is the polar opposite. Indeed, he often made the interests of others (especially the fans; my pre teen to teenage self included) TOO much of a priority!

I met him years ago. He couldn't been more nicer and humble. He gave me and my wife tickets to the show. I met him at my local gym, and he was with Ultimate Warrior, who was the exact opposite. That would've been 1991 or 1992.
I love seeing Mark Calloway be able to shoot. He has spent so many years in character in public appearances, it’s good to see the guy unwind and just tell his stories. He was a legit boss in the locker room.
That Tombstone was the second one in the match. Earlier in the match, Hogan completely no-sold the Tombstone. No cover. No 2 count. Hogan just jumped up to his feet.
Paul bearer said in a shoot with jim cornette in 2004 that before they lost the match in San Antonio to hogan that davey had to fight mark before for a couple of nights and one time during those nights that davey drag raced mark and they'll meet at a strip joint ( a mens club for those that dont know) but marks car stoped and paul bearer said, here we are the both of us dark and in the middle of nowhere no pay phone around, and waiting asking for a ride with the wwf title in the back seat. Didn't say how they got there but said that his story of what happened days after the ppv. I know this story to be true cause its on a colseuim video with the date that matches pauls story.
I recall watching the match and remember thinking how staged it had looked with hogan hitting undertakers knees and missing the chair completely which blew my mind as kid. A complete testament to how professional Mark was.
Mark Calaway is the man. Everyone speaks highly of him and apparently his backroom presence is unprecedented. Too bad we never got that Sting/Taker match when they were in their prime...not back in the days where they were just starting
I really hope Mark Calloway (Undertaker) writes a book on his career. I would love to hear his thoughts on working with characters ranging from the late Kamala, Yokozuna in the casket matches, his thoughts on the Stephanie McMahon abduction angle, winning the 7 world titles, thoughts on the Paul Bearer betrayal/reconciliation angles among other many things. He doesn't want to mention SOME of the BTS stuff cause he enjoys being married and his mother is still alive but he needs to talk about some of the wrestling stories behind the angles even if the party stuff is left out lol.
Nice to see undertaker out of his element, talk in his normal voice, in the comfort in his his home, just cutting loose and doing an interview. Refreshing.
I think this marvelous man is finally going to hang up his boots this year, and we’ll deserved! Such a true gentleman and person to admire.
seeing taker with wide eyes as shown here with reactions is just so funny for some reason but hearing him telling any story from the past era or so it's just so enjoyable
I have to say that The Undertaker was always about respect and knowing how in the business on how to pass the torch and about getting it. He learned from the best from how I hear it from past interviews. He’s one of the many few traditional wrestlers who live by the code. I enjoy watching every interview that he’s in. And I remember him best as Mean Mark in the late 80’s.. My eyes were on him when he visited my hometown in Philadelphia at the Civic Center.. He’s the man.
He is retired now, and the WWE posted a documentary that he worked on with them. He is finally allowed to break Kayfabe. I feel like since Roman Reigns and especially CM Punk broke Kayfabe in the middle of the ring with the Leukemia/Pipebomb events, the WWE is allowing more Superstars off the leash.

Shane was like helping his father in the WWF business in those days. He was backstage, doing things.
Hogan is a compulsive liar
How did he know that?
*To play devil's advocate here:* Hogan never said "Undertaker hurt me with the tombstone piledriver". Hogan said: "The tombstone messed up my neck." As in, the mere ACT of taking the bump from that move injured him. Hogan was 40 years old when he fought Undertaker, and hadn't taken any REAL bumps like that in the ring for quite some time. He was getting fragile.
Also of note: *Your neck can be damaged in one of TWO ways from a tombstone piledriver:*
1.) From impact with your head hitting the canvas (didn't happen in Hogan's case).
2.) From neck EXTENSION. Sort of like a hangman's noose. Your shoulders stop but your head and neck keep DROPPING.
Just because Hogan's version of events changes to make him look better - every time he tells a story - does not mean he's a liar! He just has a creative memory!
