Jonathan Syah: Wookiepedia states the following: Despite the captain's lack of faith in him, Ren commanded a shuttle to bring him to the jaws of the Zillo Beast, diving head-first into its mouth. Convinced that Ren was dead, Ruthford was in the middle of recommending the option of retreat to a nearby admiral when the Zillo Beast suddenly collapsed and died. Ren had killed the creature from within, where it was vulnerable, and managed to cut his way out, emerging from its corpse covered in the blood of the Benathy's deity. So Zillobeasts do seem to be vulnerable to attack from withing itself.

On another note I'm happy they brought back the Zillo beast. It's a nice touch. The story was short but I enjoyed the glimpse into Ben's state of mind through this world and the eyes of an old stormtrooper.
I love this comic, kylo is one of the best characters in the canon. Thanks for the comic!!

Kylo Ren is fucking great.
Even Vader chose not to try his luck against a Zillo Beast, even after fighting monsters of equal size and strength, and then Kylo Ren killed it from the inside. I don't know as to whether Kylo Ren was being foolish or confident, but it shows just how powerful he actually is, which is something we don't see in its entirety in the films.

They seem prepared with a gunship for that option. But the ship wasn't enough, so Ren full Iron Man the beast. It was predictable, but fun.

@@gavinmyatt5589 Well I disagree on a fundamental level. He's a horribly written character in Episodes 7 and 8 objectively.
This was an awesome comic aside from the fact he cut his way out through one of the armoured plates. It's true material properties can be different depending on angle/direction (Diamonds are tough no matter what, but the crystalline structure makes them weaker along a certain axis), but in this case is doesn't make sense for that to be applicable because of the material it is and the direction he attacked it from.
Excellent soundtrack arrangement for this chapter.
The story seems to portray KYLO as a very different character than what is depicted in TFA and TLJ. The story's inconsistencies also include this ZILLO BEAST having a susceptibility to LIGHTSABERS that wasn't a weakness in STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS from the true STAR WARS UNIVERSE. But this is the Marvel approach and KYLO channeling DRAX from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is to be expected.👀
It's still invulnerable to lightsabers, just not from inside.

Anakin knew what could kill a Zillo. So why didn't Vader come back and do just that ?
I smell a Vader story of this battle yet to be published, and I remember Anakin mourned the Zillo's passing. So perhaps KR does not understand that Vader chose not to have it killed.
He had already stopped the army from expanding, so getting a rare poisonous fuel and bringing it back just to kill a still insanely powerful creature must have not been worth it.
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 Perhaps. But I'm thinking about how Padme wanted the Zillo to be protected as it was the last of it's kind. We also not that long ago had Vader go up against The Deified "Ender" Monster without giving up. I can't help but think that if I was to write a follow up to this with a Vader perspective that I would have what happened on Coruscant to come back to his mind because of Anakin's and Padme's part in that story.
See, I can't help but think that what they're writing KR's character as is - as someone who does not understand what is the entirety of his Grandfather.
Like the Commander said - its not a competition. But KR is written to think it's about going one further than Vader.
Anakin/Vader was quite a complex character. More complex than KR understands it seems

BrolyBoi Lover i believe the zillo beast in this comic is most DEFINETLY a different zillo beast than the one that appeared in the clone wars. So either there are others of its kind living dormant on any number of worlds or perhaps palpatines cloning project bared some unexpected results.

Perhaps because he remembered how he mourned its passing as the last of its kind... Just like Vader is the last of his kind. Vader might just have had some empathy for a misunderstood Monster.

This is ridiculous, Vader didn’t beat a Zillo Beast even though it was his second time battling one of those and he already knew its weakness. Also how did Kylo cut his way out of the beast if its skin is inmune to lasers? Yeah sure you might be able to cut inner tissue from the inside out, but that doesn’t mean you won’t encounter said skin at some point in your way out.

So, Kylo is succeeds by simply going batshit medieval on these aliens and a Zillo Beast. How convenient. And boring. Some "CoMpLeX ChArAcTeR" he is.....
They didn't bow to Vader because he could not kill their God. Kylo Ren, on the other hand, succeeded where Vader failed.
That "going medieval" on them you're crying about worked because that is what the Benathy respected. That kind of strength.
If this were Vader, you'd likely be saying the opposite.

Second, Vader had direct experience with the Zillo Beast from the Clone Wars. Third, you're forgetting a tiny detail : he's a goddamn cyborg, his connection to the Force is reduced, as powerful and skilled as he was.
I'm not "crying", unlike you, simply pointing out how Kylo's feats are inconsistent. He can kill a Zillo Beast from the inside or freeze blaster bolts for a minute, but loses to some random scavenger and has trouble with the non-Force sensitive Praetorian Guards. That's why him going apeshit here and succeeding feels convenient.
Vader, because of his limitations, had a more clever approach to some things. Kylo doesn't, and it bit him in the ass on the long run. Of course I would act differently if this was Vader, because Vader would use the more thought-out approach, which would stay consistent with his feats.

One - this is a disney comic since they want Vader to be weaker than Kylo in regards to new canon, but lack the character attitude/ backstory needed to be a convincing bad ass, it's like they are just giving him the win just to make him look better, like another character of their (Raysue) sorry I have a cold.
And two - Vader/Anakin would have done that in the clone wars when he had legs, I wonder why he wouldn't do it, oh I remember because the ZILLO BEAST was / is fuking intellegent to know not to eat him, they can feel the force and knows not to allow force sensitive beings like Kylo inside his guts, if that was the case then Vader wouldn't have a problem fighting another one an being the fact he's suicidal anyway he would have dove right in head first and killed the thing.

It's what Disney does with these comics. They realize how awful the characters are in the movies so they over compensate for them in the comics so that people are like "Well actuallllllyyyy he/she did this cool thing in issue #2 blah blah"

Not exactly. To me it's just highlighting that when compared to Vader Kylo doesn't always fall short.

I'd say it's more highlighting that Kylo is more daring than Vader. Vader is a more sensible warrior who wouldn't risk his life that recklessly to prove himself.
My first feeling was exactly that. But when we consider the differences between KR and his gramp's, and with the upcoming 9, I reckon Their building him up for the great fall that will be all his in TROS.
The last time WE saw the Zillo was with Anakin mourning its demise. We know nothing of Vader and the Zillo. Perhaps the writers intent is to give us a Vader version of the Battle at some point. Perhaps the writers will have Vader remembered that earlier time with the Zillo and have him decide against killing it (Because they did kill it in the CW with gas). So in Vader's battle with this mob, they could have taken their God Zillo down - all though by technical means. (We have also seen Vader take down the God monster The Ender in single combat)
What is clear though is that KR clearly thinks he can go further than Gramp's , and "finish what he started", but it seems to me he does not fully understand his Gramp's. This, I believe, is his error.
