  • Part 4! I’ve worked on countless TV shows over the years and one thing I’ve learned, behind the scenes of TV is NOTHING like people think! This is part 4 of my experiences working in TV, these are my personal opinions and may or may not accurately represent several unnamed major networks ;)

Chris’s version of Hell is having to explain to the public that reality tv isn’t real while also explaining that alligators don’t love him.

Thank you for all the insight into “reality” tv! I enjoy hearing all the stories and anecdotes you give and watching how you and Casper interact! You give so much insight into how he thinks as a gator, and proper respect for animals!

My dad used to call the tv the "idiot box" and there were certain shows he wouldn't let us watch, but we watched ALL the nature shows, like Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, Jacques Cousteau, and National Geographic before they had to abbreviate their name to dumb it down for the audiences tv was creating. I cannot watch most nature shows now, because I see what they're doing and I yell at the tv!! (Science teacher here) What the MORONS don't realize is that the REAL work that you do with the crocodilians is far more interesting and mesmerizing than their garbage! So glad to have the pure, unfiltered Chris Gillette to watch as much as i want!

Wow....I admire your ability to not choke someone! The fact that those jerks get to just walk away after they did that to you makes me angry. The fact that the poorly built structure ended up being someone's favorite show...well that's just something wrong with them. Always love ur videos. Thank you for making videos.
PS: I can't wait until episode 5, I have seen them all, and yes I always watch until the end.

Omg I am livid myself I can’t imagine how you have to keep dealing with it. I fell for it for a bit on tv but stopped and for that I am actually grateful it was unintentional. The first video I saw of you and the alligators (maybe Casper maybe a few like longjaws). Honestly that first video helped something I wanted to know and felt with one experience when I made it to the south (Louisiana) I want to ask how you and gabby feel about something but don’t want my comment to be a novel. Thank you for the series and info I appreciate it and all the work you and your circle of trusted people do! I am from NY so we have some interesting wildlife life but I’ve always been more like your gf and yourself with interest in reptiles and animals in other countries etc. happy new year to your circle!

Everything that's worth it in this life comes with a struggle. If you can do what you love, on your terms, you've already won. Maintaining integrity matters more than notariety. Famous people aren't known for their happiness, but people with purpose inspire quietly, and for far longer than 15 minutes of fame. Purpose driven conservationists leave behind legacies that inspire for generations. Being known for the right things takes longer than being known for the sake of vanity.

Lov this, i have used some of your ideas to train two water dragons, they have now been visiting me for 8 years. They are Super chilled now, at the start of summer after their hibernation they come knocking on the window to call me. For food obviously. Reptiles appear seriously smart. Note, water dragons are small and harmless.

I've watched all the parts to your tv experiences and I just KNEW that at some point the bad enclosure story was gonna come up. I remember watching that scene from that show when it aired and thinking "There's no way this is real." because it was very obvious you were far more capable than they were making you seem, and I could even tell you seemed a little baffled and confused about what was going on. And then watching you get scolded for it irritated the heck out of me. I hated the way they portrayed you on that show.
I was so happy when I eventually came across your content on social media and saw that you were doing what you love and making fun educational content out of it. You're definitely one of the most genuine animal educators I know of (and I know of a lot). You clearly care more about the animals and their wellbeing and spreading factual information than you do about trying to "go viral", and would never do anything that goes against those things in order to do so, which I unfortunately can't say for a lot of the animal educators I see online these days.
Thank you for all that you (and Gabby too!) do! ❤

I loved Steve Irwin. But hearing this stuff, and from your other vids on this, does make me wonder about what he was really like behind the camera. He was probably a dream simp to the TV producers back in the day (before he got big). Today, his legacy isn't just his personal one and passion for nature... it's also a big commercial enterprise (which was part of his and families motivation all along $).

    • @coloraturaElise
      @coloraturaElise หลายเดือนก่อน

If Steve's legacy had remained a personal one, he would not have had the power to educate as many people as he and his family did and continue to do. They had to go big to reach the masses; can you understand that concept?

I think if you wanna be in another TV show that you need to have an agent or an attorney, go over the contract or stipulate in a contract that you have final say over editing rights so they can’t misrepresent you or you have legal grounds to sue for damage of reputation. Just as I typed this up addressed it….🤣🤣

Was in a rush the other day so I rewatched. I totally enjoyed the videos and don't think they were too long at all. I know it's only a possibility as of right now but hoping this new prospect goes through for you and that you have creative control. Seems like all reality shows are either extremely fake and scripted or they are edited to the point of fakeness. Either way , people are silly if they believe all the reality shows are 100 real. It ain't fun to be accused of something you didn't do let alone it being aired on national television. ❤️🐊

Hey Chris. This is somewhat unrelated, but I have this one very small Shih Tzu dog who is incredibly aggressive and desobidient, and always goes to bite anyone whether it is go pet him, or to pug drops on his eyes, or to put on the leash to go outside. No matter what, you get close to him, he will bite 😅 I have to get on top of him and hold the back of hist neck so he can bite, when I am putting drops in his eyes, or putting the leash. You are a very good animal trainer, so if you could give any tips about it, or make a video about it, that would be much appreciated! Keep up the great work

chris, since the day steve irwin died, jeff corwin and brady barr left the big networks, theres almost no good tv nature show out there. i got the opportunity to work with a famous british naturalist and tv presenter and he was great. but again the networks are very very bad for the image of their hosts in many cases. and i am a firm believer if you have a interesting host who understands animals, one who loves them and is still able to sell the thing right to the average joe and just is exciting and entertaining by handling the animal in a cool way you dont need no fake drama or situations!

The problem with TV series is that they think they're ordering a Starbucks, for them waiting 6 hours is like waiting a decade, the only ones that have an authentic approach for me are animal documentaries, those that live on a daily basis with them. They are 2 different worlds, and I easily understand your annoyance

It's incredibly dumb and irresponsible to say something like "Alligators come to you because they love you" on any media platform with a wide range and large audience. Portraying Alligator-training like this can literally get people killed.
