Because the vlogs take so much longer to edit/upload, there’s a few days of lag time between when they’re filmed and posted. So if you’ve been following my shorts or IG/FB you’ll have seen Big Mac already recovered sight in one eye, but this vlog was several days ago when he had just started to be able to see shadows.

I'm so glad Big Mac is gradually gaining his sight back Chris. He's always nice & relaxed with you which is great. Akila takes her food so gently & she's also nice & relaxed with you. I love seeing all the other animals in your sanctuary..🐊🐊

wow Akila responds to her name Amazingly well. That didn't take long. So amazing. I love the new boy emu Pebbles, he is adorable. Lola the Coati petting the baby Emu through the cage was the CUTEST EVER!

When you get close to Big Mac, talk low to him in a calm way, while feeding him, I bet he really likes that... he can hear and feel your energy. And it's clear to see how positive that energy is, because your smile is so happy! This is why I watch EVERY DAY!

That is so great for Big Mac! What an amazing capability of recovery these animals have! Akila is getting a little more spicy. Glad to see her and Big Mac eating. I sure hope Dino and Bella start eating. I don't understand why there are so many doubting Thomas's. Chris has been working with these animals a LONG time. Until these videos, I had NO IDEA, they weren't just mindless eating machines. They are still very dangerous, but capable of training! You can actually see their personalities. Chris, we need to find you a bowl with a wide brim you can hide your fingers under for Jelly Bean! Thank you for another wonderful tag along.🙂

Chris... I'm watching you standing there with Big Mac and everything is so serene. Look at how relaxed he is🥰 And I'm hearing how pleased you are with his healing. You are so deeply in tune with Big Mac and EVERY OTHER resident at Bellowing Acres. Noticing his pupils constricting is just beyond... beyond. He is so relaxed in his pool. I’m so happy to hear about Big Mac’s eyesight. My prayers are being answered. Akila’s training is going great. She is so beautiful. Glad you’re making progress with the foxes. They’ve had a rough start in life, but they’re safe now and I’m sure they’ll get more and more relaxed around you. You and Gabby are such decent, kind-hearted people, and the world would be a better place with more folks like you. I pray for animals, pets, wildlife etc. God made us their guardians. It's not just about a soul.
It's ABOUT caring and human decency.

Also had a laugh that we're probably all just as riveted to watching y'all cut logs, because we're excited for the transformation of the various enclosures, lol. I mean, it doesn't even occur to me, 'They're just cutting logs right now; I can get up and get another drink,' or anything. No, I'm sitting here watching to see what you're going to do with those logs! 😆(and I don't have idle days; it's just the sanctuary vlogs are my dinner break)

Big Mac is doing great!! Awesome news. I bet his eyesight returns in full with time. As you know these guys have a excellent healing ability. Its sad to see Pebbles still looking for her former human but like you said, she will come around and she has 2 sisters to keep her company along with Clover and all the other animals at the sanctuary.

We usually hear the stories of all the animals and where they came from and what they are… maybe I’ve missed the stories but I somehow have missed the pigs and goat’s backstory. I could watch these babies all day!!!
from the website: Julie the pig came to us after her family sold their 2 acre farm and had to move into a smaller home where they could not bring her. After the only homes being offered to her were to eventually eat her, her desperate mom reached out to us and Julie joined our other two pigs, Daisy and Petunia. Julie is a fan favorite with her loud happy squeals and her floppy ears!
Kit-Kat came to us from Wildwood Animal Rescue after being attacked by a dog. Kit-Kat's front leg was so severely broken after the attack that the only options were to amputate her leg or to euthanize her. After Wildwood A.R. got her the surgery she needed, we took on full financial responsibility for her, covering the cost of the amputation and taking her on as a permanent resident.

the other two goats were abandoned, they showed up with infected ear tags that needed special equipment to remove.

So so happy that some sight is coming back to Big Mac 🎉 I am patiently waiting for Bella to become more involved with her surroundings. You should solder a small pole under the the metal bowl of Mr. Stabby Toucan lol. That way you can tilt it a bit and provide a shield by holding the small pole under the bowl. As long as he can stab your hand and gets a reaction he will continue to do it.
I think Hazel bit you because she was looking at your face or body instead of your hand. And if I were you, I'd add a pop-it to the bottom of Jelly Bean's bowl to hold onto.😂

With as smart as these gators are, do they know after a time that you are friend rather than foe? Big Mac is either very calm or still feeling poorly, because he isnt acting aggressive or leaving in fear. I've been learning so much.👍🐊

But he's still food to the gator if given a chance
His poor vision is probably why. When they can't see they aren't as afraid, it's why they cover the eyes whenever catching them up.
Chris talked about the bonding thing before in one of his videos with Casper. They can be super well-trained, but any mistake or weakness and they'll take advantage. He knew of two gators, male and female, housed together for years, might have been around a decade. The female had a seizure one day and the male attacked her, I think he killed her. Been awhile since I heard the story, details are fuzzy, but it was the example he gave of how gators don't bond or love the way people seem to think they do. It's just good training and his own experience.
You should make notecards with cute pictures of the animals on them to sell.

I’ve been through a very difficult time, as hubby, who cares for me due to my disabilities, suffered a rapid decline in mobility, loss of muscle mass and slurred speech due to old spinal injuries. He’s a big guy and I just realized I linked Big Mac’s recovery with my hubby’s recovery. Both are doing not only well, but a great deal better than expected. If I could I’d dance for joy for both of them. As you know, I am psyched about all the crocodilians, but Big Mac will always be sprecial. Julie’s noise sounds so plaintive…”I’m starving here, in the name of all that’s holy feed me.” Look at Hazel! I think you could train ants to perform ballet!

Just adding word of caution…a friend’s son lost vision in one eye….no eye protection and a fresh splinter flew up and into his eye when using a chain saw. 😱
It's so interesting learning about the animals and why you do what you do with them where it's relevant to share. Akita really does seem to understand the name Akita and that it is supposed to react to it! If an emu moved to a new home and escaped, would it possibly be able to get back to where it was used to living? I suppose the distance from the original home would make a difference in the matter?
