I found myself very lucky to see these guys playing in a small bar in the end of the eighties for two hundred people. What a evening that was!!! I can remember that Bertrami allready had serious health problems in those days. RIP Jose Roberto Bertrami.
I saw Azymuth live in April 1987 at the old "Concerts By The Sea" club at King Harbor in Redondo Beach, CA. Their LP "Tightrope Walker" had just come out. Amazing show. It was a late Wednesday night and maybe 80 people were there. The Brazilian singer Kenia showed up and sang a song with them toward the end of the show. They played in L.A. quite a bit at that time. Please come back!

Thank you for the sweet syncopated Brazilian Jazz Funk Beats Master Mamão! Your presence will be greatly missed. Quando se fala em Azymuth me lembro logo da maravilhosa "Linha do Horizonte". É jazz brasileiríssimo de alto nível que, mesmo assim, poucos conhecem no Brasil ou não lhe dão o devido valor cultural.
Azymuth didn't survive the first loss of Bertrami very well-- after the Milestone years. Then they reunited and came back super strong on the Far Out label and created some of their best work (and sound). I didn't think they could sound as good after Bertrami was gone again (RIP Bertrami), but Kiko Continentino is a *very* refreshing addition to the lineup. One of their stronger shows, I think.

Azymuth é uma das maiores bandas do mundo no jazz/instrumental. Sem dúvidas...são maravilhosos....já não tínhamos o Bertrami, muito bem substiiuido pelo Kiko. Mamão também nos deixou....mas ficou seu samba/pop/jazz/elétrico com suas viradas que são só dele....Malheiros continua segurando a tocha....mas sua música nunca vai morrer enquanto existirem bons ouvidos para apreciar...

Quando um amigo me compartilhou esse link em outro Estado do Brasil de primeira eu já sabia q era vcs, só q assim q observei estar em inglês achei q fosse uma outra Azimuth, e depois q pesquisei detalhes tive a certeza da lendária banda dos anos 70.
