kamaal is reinventing so many subgenres of jazz. i love jazz in every fucking way. but whatever kamaal is doing has never been done in this way. kamaal knows exactly what hes doing - every second of every song. absolutely amazibg.
Simply fantastic and touching and captivating on every level! I have been following "jazz" music for almost 50 years now... And after a long time, you have really got me going again!!! Perhaps you are open and interested in learning about your "predecessors" or collaborating? I can name a few like Erik Satie, James Blood Ulmer, Rip Rig and Panic, Meshell Ndegeocello etc. If it comes to that, I would be ready to leave this world after listening to it - I would know it was all worth it... Listen to DJs that play modern jazz-funk and deep house, you'll get constant new discoveries. DJs like Rixon D, Last Nubian, Steven Julien/Apron Records, Spinorita, Osagie, Marco Weibel, and myself if you've exhausted all the other options haha
I just gotta say the US has been playing this type of jazz fusion for 30 to 40 years. This is nothing new and yet its still my favorite genre no matter where it comes from!
This sort of thing been around for a long time in the uk too - kinda a resurgence but it also definitely has it's own modern flavour that's not quite like what's been done before
