That old edition of the Silmarillion is absolutely gorgeous, great find! 📖 My top 5 favourite authors of all time would definitely include Charles Bukowski, H. P. Lovecraft and Chuck Palahniuk, but then again, it's so hard to choose.
Nick thank you so much for your videos from Russia! 🙂I enjoy them so much! And happy birthday!!!!!! You definitely chose the Best way to celebrate it! 👍🎁🎉
Happy belated birthday! From Buffalo here - thanks for the Hamilton bookstore names! When in Buffalo be sure to visit “Savers” - there’s 2 - one in the town of Amherst and one in Orchard Park! Enjoy! 💥
Several years ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Octavia Butler and Samuel Delany together at an authors event. Parable of the Sowers has a very timely passage. Hope you see it.
Hi Nick been watching your excellent channel for a bout a month. You have great taste in literature. Just purchased The Terror because of your recommendation. Thanks.
There’s a setting on your Kindle to show the cover of whatever you’re reading when it’s off instead of whatever random picture it shows. I like it way more that way, and then you could show it in your videos!
omg if you've never heard of the Sackler family you are in for a wild ride my friend. also, i am about to finish Intermezzo and it's fantastic. I can see an argument for it being Rooney's best, although normal people is still my favorite. hope you enjoy and excited to hear your thoughts!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. Those might be fungus flies/gnats, they are related to fruit flies. Fungus flies happen when your house plants have soggy soil because summer time is gone and the soil is no longer drying out as fast. So basically, stick your finger in the soil to feel that it is dried out before you water again to prevent fungus flies. I have too many houseplants (50+), so fungus flies are my enemy. I've been focused on reading Just Kids by Patti Smith and A Game of Thrones (first time reading) and they are fantastic books so far.
Today is Columbus Day in the US and some people have off. Luckily I am one of these people. I started this video but I’m gonna save it for when I get to my Office tomorrow, side note, I almost bought that jacket last year, love it!
Glad the fans chose Under The Dome to move on, at least for now. Been slowly making my way through it. Read about half as of now. Has some sloooow moments, but that's to be expected. At the moment, I would probably say it's my third favorite King novel, behind Joyland and Revival.
The Terror by Dan Simmons is great! I watched the Show without knowing what it was (expecting some Horror Series but not knowing about the historical Context). Then i read the Book by Simmons and also some Non-Fiction about the Historic Backgrounds. Its just such a captivating Theme with the Cold and the Life threatening Nature of the whole Expedition.
Watching this early morning with a coffee whilst getting ready for the day = perfect. Also, I think you should absolutely start with Intermezzo because a. it's brilliant and b. I think you will enjoy it since it's a bit more "grown up" compared to her earlier works (which are also amazing obviously).
I’ve read so many of Dan Simmons’ work; I’m begging you to read his SUMMER OF NIGHT! One of my favorite horror classics! His HYPERION series is excellent too for SCI-FI.
Billy Summers is such an underrated book. It always goes under peoples radar but it’s my personal favourite King book and one of my favourite books in general
Random recommendation cause I just read it and adored it: Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon Two down on their luck Syracusans during the Peloponnesian War decide to start a production of Euripedes plays using the Athenian POW’s left to starve in a rock quarry as their performers. The catch of the book, is that the characters speak in a modern Irish dialect. I blew through it. Really economical storytelling. Very enjoyable.
Belated happy birthday and happy Thanksgiving! (Yes, US Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday in Nov.) That Carrie cover looks familiar - I think it might have been the edition I read back in the '70s or early '80s. 😄I think you'll like Parable of the Sower - I thought it was pretty terrifying and depressing in a way, but very interesting and well-written. Thanks for mentioning the Kavelier & Clay book - I hadn't heard of it but now it's added to my TBR.
I have Kavalier and Clay! Haven't started it yet but I almost never hear anyone talk about it Also currently reading Salem's Lot for the first time. Want to read before watching the new movie
The Sackler family is a huge pharmacy company that was responsible for the opioid crisis, making it very easy to get them from doctors who get paid enormous bonuses to hawk them. Kavalier is about comic books, I believe.😊 The Terror is also a tv miniseries with Ciaran Hinds.
Nick i am easily scared when it comes to horror,a real softy... What would you suggest if one would start reading stephen king, where should i start? Love your videos,my happy place!!!
Am currently reading The Empusium by Olga Tokarczuk Very good She has won the Nobel prize for literature and the International Booker Prize for Drive Your Plow Over The Bones Of The Dead Try her, you’ll like her Read a great book called The House In The Cerulean Sea by T J Klune
I recommend you give the Holy Bible a read, even if you don’t believe it’s the truth, it is the best story ever told. I love your videos! God bless you 😊 Also Happy Birthday Brother!
Hey Nick! Did you get a chance to look into The Vermin Sleep? If you’re looking for an easily digestible horror novella on a day you might be in a slump, The Vermin Sleep will remedy that slump! 🐀🔨🩸💀 4.18 🌟 | 51 Ratings on GoodReads!
No, there truly isn't any better day than drinking coffee and buying books 😄

I know you don’t read a lot of sci-fi but Hyperion by Dan Simmons is one of my all time favorites.
Currently reading Fairy Tale by Stephen King, my first Stephen King book and I’m loving it!!
The Terror is glorious. Some people find it a bit slow, but it's worth the effort.
Just purchased The Terror this past weekend on a recommendation by the barnes and noble worker. Cant wait to get into it.
Several years ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Octavia Butler and Samuel Delany together at an authors event.
Parable of the Sowers has a very timely passage. Hope you see it.

I’m reading The Terror too. It’s so good!
In the U.S., we also have this Monday off for Indigenous Peoples’ Day/Columbus Day.
Actually, it's kind of mixed. It's an optional holiday, so a lot of people don't have the day off.
Happy thanksgiving and happy birthday!!
hey happy birthday.
i really love the art on the intermezzo book. i dont know much about it but hopefully it might be something im into
Today is Columbus Day in the US and some people have off. Luckily I am one of these people. I started this video but I’m gonna save it for when I get to my Office tomorrow, side note, I almost bought that jacket last year, love it!
Any book by PRK is a gem. Empire of Pain is a beast. I would start with Say Nothing. Currently reading Snakehead by him.
Glad the fans chose Under The Dome to move on, at least for now. Been slowly making my way through it. Read about half as of now. Has some sloooow moments, but that's to be expected. At the moment, I would probably say it's my third favorite King novel, behind Joyland and Revival.
this format really suits me

The Terror is an excellent read. So is his Carrion Comfort, but for me Terror tops it. Enjoy!

Hi Nick. Just downloaded The Terror on your recommendation.
Billy Summers is such an underrated book. It always goes under peoples radar but it’s my personal favourite King book and one of my favourite books in general
If you’re enjoying the Terror, you should read In the Kingdom of Ice by Hampton Sides. One of my favorite books.
Currently reading Sun House by David James Duncan and A Coney Island of the Mind by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Enjoying them both thoroughly!
Random recommendation cause I just read it and adored it:
Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon

I blew through it. Really economical storytelling. Very enjoyable.
I just finished Desperation and I actually really liked it. Now I’m reading the Lisa Marie Presley memoir
I'm currently reading Stephen Kings It as well as The eyes are the best part by Monika Kim for a book club pick!

I have Kavalier and Clay! Haven't started it yet but I almost never hear anyone talk about it
Also currently reading Salem's Lot for the first time. Want to read before watching the new movie
I think that it’s not talked about now because it’s an old book.
@@thomasceneri867 i guess that's valid. I'm just late to the party

its hard to put into words, but the book Magnetic Aura from Talesio completely changed my life. i recommend everyone reading this to read it
Have you read or plan on reading any Percival Everett? Heard awesome things I am looking forward to diving into “James” soon
