I am the same way! Coffee is a big trigger for panic attacks or at least putting me on edge for a while which can be exhausting! I've just switched to decaf, which is frustratingly limiting, but still allows for that supplemental cozy/tangible thing you alluded to. I am so thankful you’ve opened yourself to be a resource to help others. I remember when I first started having panic issues, the helpless feeling, and the ‘my wife and child would be better off without having to deal with this’, just the lowest and hopeless lowest of lows. I’ve navigated it a lot and am in a much better place, but simply offering an ear and advice is incredible.
Loved just the itty bitty chat chat anxiety. I think a lot of us here can say that we also have anxiety and it’s just nice for the topic to be openly discussed and that tips to help can be suggested :)

I read Jurassic Park when it was first published and I remember thinking: Wow! This should be a movie. So good. I also really loved The Goldfinch. Lots of people hate it but I couldn’t get enough. I read The Secret History back when it was new and I know I really liked it but it was so long ago I barely remember what happened. I’m enjoying your stuff so much. Love the enthusiasm.
What a good haul! I love that edition of the Picture of Dorian Gray, and it is a fantastic classic read. Oscar Wilde has such a sad story, but his writing was a gift to the world. Happy to have found you on YT! ♡
Coffee, teas with caffeine, and choclate effect me the same way. Doing something physical always helps my attacks. Bike riding, walking, hiking, painting help me.
Sorry to hear of your coffee issues. That for me would be tough. I too like books with ribbon bookmarks. After always hunting for something to mark a book I figured out how to make a big bunch of bookmarks that are always on hand. It is a do -it -yourself project I did at a copy shop. Take several colored 8.5” x !1” paper sheets, laminate them and then take them to their slicing paper cutter. Slice laminated paper width-wise into about 1.25 “ strips. You get a fat stack of book marks, which also are nice because they fold over the bend of a page, making it easy to underline with a pencil. Great presentation of your new books. Enjoy The Goldfinch!
I stopped drinking coffee a couple of years ago for the same reason, I ordered decaf recently in a cafe once which definitely wasn't decaf and had the worst panic attack I'd had in ages from it! Totally understand how awful dealing with anxiety is but you're doing great on this channel! Watching your videos helps me to relax so thank you :)

Great channel! In the past I was a “nonfiction or classics only” book snob. Then a friend strongly recommended I read Goldfinch. When I closed the book I finally understood that great modern fiction writers do indeed exist. Btw…..Dorian Gray and Jane Eyre are wonderful✨

i do think the goldfinch is a great starting book for donna tartt but the secret history is by far her best. just a stunning novel, i especially recommend it to new adults

I read Jurassic Park for a sci fi/fantasy class as a junior in high school and remember being enthralled with it which at the time, surprised me. I don’t often reread books but would love to experience this one again. Enjoy!!
Donna Tartt is great. She writes a book about every ten years. Concerning The Goldfinch, the painting of the goldfinch is by Carel Fabritious, and there’s a book about him and the author, Laura Cumming’s, father, who was also an artist. The book is called Thunderclap by Laura Cumming. The Picture of Dorian Gray is about a man whose self portrait gets older and visually horrific the older and more debauched he becomes as time goes on,while staying young. I would suggest reading the unedited version - parts that were cut out because of them being too risqué for the time (gay) and also has a lot of endnotes with interesting history of the time. Another great line from Jane Eyre is, “I married him, dear reader!” 😊

Couldn't put it down. It's quite divisive though and I've heard it panned as being like 'Harry potter for adults' which made me feel super basic. 😂 I recently finished the secret history and loved that too but for me, the goldfinch was the one.

Also, as someone who also suffers from panic attacks I LOVE that you are open about it! I absolutely loved The Picture of Dorian Grey, I tried to read Jane Eyre 10 years ago when I was in high school but had to stop as I started to get depressed in my day to day life as a result of it. Probably more of a reflection of my mental health at the time instead of the book! Do you mind if I recommend a few books? Some of my favorite books I read last year were Animal Farm by George Orwell, such a quick read and super impactful. A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles, this was a blind read for me and it was honestly so enjoyable! And of course some of my favorite books ever are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Can't wait for more content from you, I really enjoy the podcast-esque style you do with a constant stream instead of cut up! :)

So jealous or the weather out there. Here in Argentina is summer and I love cold weather. I couldn't finish Dorian Gray. The dialogues were kind of long monologues and I got annoyed early on.
Do you have a letterboxd account? it would be cool to see more of your views on movies, especially since you're a photographer it would be awesome to hear what you think about cinematography and visual effects and stuff. I'm also a huge horror movie fan. I also just love movies and books and stories in general lol not just horror even though it's my favorite genre.
I really like the Rise and the Fall of the Third Reich. It did get a little boring in the part about around the beer hall putsch. I loved Jurassic Park. I read it out loud twice to my sons (they even made me read the boring parts about the DNA sequencing)
I have read/listened to Jurassic Park multiple times and find it really enjoyable. I find it strange that the movies reversed the beginnings by using the start of the Lost World as the start of Jurassic Park and vice versa, that being said after getting over the initial confusion, I just let the great story take me away.

Look I am Polish American and I speak for myself and probably 90% of the other Polish peoples out there. You don’t need to cover up the logo of the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. We won’t get butt hurt.
The Goldfinch is hundreds of times better than The secret History and that says a lot!! I read TSH in a month and TG in a week! And im probably going to read it again. So amazing

It's pretty dark in Poland, too in the middle of January. In fact, not so much winter but November is known for depression month.
